I began this volume slightly nervous, as the story was progressing as I had expected and nothing new was taking place towards the beginning. For how short these are, for how fast I read them, these initial comments are critical to my enjoyment, but thankfully the story took a slightly different turn from what I expected, and basically blew me away, as usual. Why did I bother doubting? I've rated a small handful of this series 4 stars and all other volumes 5 stars, so I should be used to the gold I began this volume slightly nervous, as the story was progressing as I had expected and nothing new was taking place towards the beginning. I've rated a small handful of this series 4 stars and all other volumes 5 stars, so I should be used to the gold standard but I become nervous at times, thinking something awful wil happen, something which will throw the world of the series off but I'm beginning to worry less. The BIG scene I have been expecting is close this is the historically expected scene so no complaints here to do with knowing what happens next. I am anticipating and dreading all of it. This volume was a perfect balance of sword fighting and contemplation, of outward exertion and inward discovery, and a fine example of why this series is so very special.
