It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 13th International Workshop on Acoustic Signal Enhancement (IWAENC) and to the city of Aachen As a friend of IWAENC you may have recognized that the interpretation of the acronym IWAENC has undergone some changes which reflect the evolution of our technical field from pure echo control in the early days via combined echo and noise control to a wider spectrum of topics, includ- ing beamforming, blind acoustic source separation, speaker localization, speech enhancement, active noise control, dereverberation, echo cancella- tion, and finally various audio signal processing applications in hearing aids, cell phones, and audio conferencing systems This year the workshop comprises 82 papers which are presented in eight poster sessions and a special session with six oral presentations Each poster session starts with a keynote talk by a leading expert In contrast to previ- ous workshops the topics of the poster presentations are distributed over all sessions which gives you the opportunity to meet and discuss the results of your work with colleagues working in the same research area Two separate demo sessions scheduled in parallel to the poster sessions will offer attendees various types of technical experience A student prize is awarded to the best paper whose first author and presenter is a registered student In addition to the technical program, there will be a large variety of social activities – another opportunity to exchange ideas and establish contacts In Aachen, the city of the Emperor Charlemagne, you will experience its international flair, 2000 years of history, a rich cultural heritage, a wonderful surrounding landscape, and people who know how to enjoy life Germany’s most western city, with a population of around 245,000 drawn from 156 na- tions, nestles up against the border with Belgium and the Netherlands Its universities and colleges, research facilities, and high-tech businesses influ- ence, in no small part, the present and the future of our city Herzlich Willkommen! 3 The conference venue for the IWAENC 2012 is the SuperC Student Service Center of the RWTH Aachen University, one of Germany’s Universities of Excellence This building is a visual highlight in the heart of the city as well as the university complex It serves as a lively contact point for all students with administrative and study-related queries and includes several confer- ence rooms that offer spectacular views over the city center During the preparation of this workshop we have been surrounded by the wonderful and supportive team of the Institute of Communication Systems and Data Processing at RWTH Aachen University Our special thanks go to the team manager Christiane Antweiler for taking care of almost everything, to the program and publications coordinator Benedikt Eschbach, and to Christoph Nelke who managed the whole review process As the excellence of the workshop strongly depends on the quality of the submitted papers, we also thank the authors and reviewers for significantly contributing to the success of IWAENC 2012 We also express our gratitude to the organizing and technical committees for their valuable assistance Finally, we are very grateful to the sponsoring companies Advanced Bion- ics, Ericsson, Google, HEAD acoustics, Intel, Microsoft Research, Nuance, Qualcomm, Siemens Audiology Solutions, Skype, and Texas Instruments for improving the working and communication conditions at the workshop We look forward to meeting you in Aachen Peter Vary, RWTH Aachen University Walter Kellermann, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Hans-Wilhelm Gierlich, HEAD acoustics 4 International Workshop on Acoustic Signal Enhancement Committees Organizing Committee Peter Vary (Chair) Christiane Antweiler RWTH Aachen University RWTH Aachen University Walter Kellermann (Co-Chair) Benedikt Eschbach University of Erlangen-Nuremberg RWTH Aachen University Hans-Wilhelm Gierlich (Co-Chair) Christoph Nelke HEAD acoustics, Herzogenrath RWTH Aachen University Technical Committee Jacob Benesty Steven Grant Université du Québec Missouri University of Science and Montreal, Canada Technology Rolla, United States Alberto Carini Yves Grenier Università di Urbino Télécom ParisTech Urbino, Italy Paris, France Tomas Gaensler Yoichi Haneda mh acoustics NTT Cyber Space Laboratories Summit, United States Tokyo, Japan Sharon Gannot Kees Janse Bar-Ilan University Philips Research Ramat Gan, Israel Eindhoven, Netherlands Committees 5 Walter Kellermann Sven Nordholm University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Curtin University of Technology Erlangen, Germany Bentley, Australia Shoji Makino Henning Puder University of Tsukuba Siemens Audiologische Technik Tsukuba, Japan Erlangen, Germany Rainer Martin Piet Sommen Ruhr-Universität Bochum Technische Universiteit Eindhoven Bochum, Germany Eindhoven, Netherlands Marc Moonen Ivan Tashev Katholieke Universiteit Leuven Microsoft Research Leuven, Belgium Redmond,United States Patrick Naylor Peter Vary Imperial College London RWTH Aachen University London, United Kingdom Aachen,Germany 6 International Workshop on Acoustic Signal Enhancement Reviewer Christophe Beaugeant Richard Hendriks Christoph Norrenbrock Jacob Benesty Richard Heusdens Nobutaka Ono Joerg Bitzer Ulrich Heute Matthias Pawig Brian Bloemendal Rüdiger Hoffmann Alexander Petrovsky Herbert Buchner Volker Hohmann Henning Puder Markus Buck Herbert Hudde Augusto Sarti Alberto Carini Kees Janse Magnus Schäfer Israel Cohen Jesper Jensen Gerhard Schmidt Gerhard Doblinger Marco Jeub Jan Skoglund Simon Doclo Hirokazu Kameoka Dirk Slock Ramani Duraiswami Walter Kellermann Piet Sommen Gerald Enzner Frank Kettler Sascha Spors Thomas Esch W Bastiaan Kleijn Sriram Srinivasan Nicholas Evans Dorothea Kolossa Akihiko Sugiyama Tiago Falk Gernot Kubin Nordholm Sven Christof Faller Fabian Kuech Ivan Tashev Janina Fels Chiong Lai Oliver Thiergart Tim Fingscheidt Christina Leitner Mark Thomas Jürgen Freudenberger Ludovick Lepauloux Steven van de Par Tomas Gaensler Heinrich Löllmann Werner Verhelst Sharon Gannot Tapio Lokki Jason Wung Nikolay Gaubitch Nilesh Madhu Christelle Yemdji Bernd Geiser Shoji Makino Timo Gerkmann Rainer Martin Hans Gierlich Bruno Masiero Simon Godsill Alfred Mertins Stefan Goetze Marc Moonen Steven Grant Moctar Mossi Idrissa Yves Grenier Patrick Naylor Emanuel Habets Christoph Nelke Reinhold Haeb-Umbach Elias Nemer Yoichi Haneda Francesco Nesta John Hansen Robert Nickel Keynote Talks 7 Keynote Talks Media Signal Processing in Cell Phones – What is so Smart about it? • Traditionelles Kunsthandwerk in Würselen # Vom Korn Zur Printe In

Guests enjoying a pre-stay in Basel will receive a transfer from the hotel to the ship. Back on board the riverboat, meet your Tauck Directors at a discovery/welcome briefing, and enjoy a casual captain's welcome reception followed by dinner – and one of the best Christmas market tours begins! Meals: Dinner Accommodation: ms Inspire / ms Grace Day 2 A day of Christmas festivity in the Alsace Riquewihr - Aside from the electricity that lights up its intimate Christmas Market every December, this Alsatian village hasn't changed much since its days as a Winzerdorf (wine village) in the 16th century. Fortified by glühwein, you'll stroll among stalls laden with crafts and local delicacies, set among historic half-timbered houses and shops dressed in yuletide finery... it's like a fairy tale come to life! Colmar - A little piece of holiday heaven... that's Colmar at Christmas time! Le Marché de Noël's five main venues spread merriment throughout this beautifully preserved medieval city on the Alsatian Wine Route, its 14th- and 15th-century façades draped in greenery and twinkling lights.
