Abstract: In this paper we give an overview of the water mites currently known from the Baltic countries. For each species all literature data are given and additionally many new data are provided. This work resulted in up-to-date checklists for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Species numbers reported from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are 161, 162 and 137 respectively. It is expected that this number will rise considerably when more research is conducted.

Key words: Baltic, checklist, Hydrachnidia, water mites.
