Statistics taken 31 July 2019 from the external RN web page show that there were almost 500 visits to the TNE page and people spent over a minute longer on the page than Contributions should be submitted average. This is in addition to all the units and sites that received almost electronically via the form found on 2000 hard copies, those that have requested electronic soft copies, plus The Naval Engineer intranet homepage, around 700 visitors to the internal site. -

Issue 11 Page !1 Brave Report HMS Viknor formerly SS Atrato They captured the major German spy and perished with him In January 1915 the crew of the armed merchant cruiser HMS Viknor made a major contribution to the war by capturing the leading German spy-master after a search and chase operation. Unfortunately they and their captives were lost within hours, sunk in a storm or by a mine or a combination of both. Northern Ireland - Service in the Royal Navy - In Remembrance Issue 11 Page !2 The ship’s Commanding Officer, E O Ballantyne, had been informed by Lord Fisher that he was to search for and apprehend the SS Bergensfjord - a Norwegian owned and neutral ship. Information had been received from British intelligence sources that persons taken aboard the ship in New York under the guise of being neutral citizens were in fact German reservists. This was quite a challenge to present to what in reality was a makeshift warship. Viknor was a civilian ship hastily prepared for war, and manned mainly by members of the Royal Naval Reserve, including twenty-five seamen of the Newfoundland Division of the RNR. In their search and apprehend action the ship’s company proved that they were fit for role. The Viknor which was only able to do seventeen knots had headed out to the North Sea as Admiral Jellico wanted it to strengthen the blockade of Germany by the northern patrol. On Friday 8th December the message was flashed to the fleet that SS Bergensfjord should be captured at all costs. -

Henry married Jane1 about 1671. Jane was born about 1645 and died in 1712 about age 67. They had four children: Henry, Richard, Thomas, and George. 2-Henry Reynolds1 was born in 1673 and died in 1712 at age 39. 2-Richard Reynolds1 was born in 1675 and died in 1745 at age 70. Richard married Anne Adams. They had one daughter: Mariah. 3-Mariah Reynolds1 was born on 29 Mar 1715 and died in 1715. 2-Thomas Reynolds1 was born about 1677 in Southwark, London and died about 1755 in Southwark, London about age 78. Noted events in his life were: • He worked as a Colour maker. Thomas married Susannah Cowley1 on 22 Apr 1710 in FMH Southwark. Susannah was born in 1683 and died in 1743 at age 60. GUERRA DE LAS MALVINAS: OPERACIÓN SUTTON. BATALLA AERONAVAL DE LA BAHÍA DE SAN CARLOS Francisco José SEQUEIRO LEIRA Introducción L 2 de abril de 1982, en la denominada Operación ROSARIO (1), fuerzas argentinas invaden y ocupan el archipiélago de las Falklands o Malvinas (2), y al día siguiente las islas Georgias del Sur y Sándwich del Sur. Una acción encuadrada en la recuperación de estos territorios en manos británicas para poner fin al centenario litigio de soberanía que ambos países mantienen sobre las islas (3) y que ocasiona la ruptura de relaciones diplomáticas por parte de Gran Bretaña, dando origen a un conflicto entre ellas: la Guerra de las Malvinas o Falklands war. Del 2 de abril al 1 de mayo se abre un denso período de gestiones políticas, durante el cual se proponen varios planes de paz para solucionar el conflicto, (1) «La Junta Militar como Órgano Supremo del Estado comunica al pueblo de la Nación Argentina que hoy, la República, por intermedio de sus Fuerzas Armadas, mediante la concre- ción exitosa de una Operación Conjunta, ha recuperado la islas Malvinas para el patrimonio nacional. Se ha asegurado de esta manera el ejercicio de la soberanía argentina sobre todo el territorio de las mencionadas islas y los espacios marítimos y aéreos correspondientes». Scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2023, the 248-person ferries have been designed by Norway-based firm HAV Design and will be able to accommodate 80 cars and six trailers. Both 84-metre-long vessels will have a battery-powered propulsion system, which can be charged via shore power while passengers are disembarking in port. They will also have a diesel-electric backup system to allow them to operate in either fully electric, hybrid or diesel-electric mode. Once in service, the vessels will operate on the routes between Stranda and Liabygda, and Eidsdal and Linge. The vessel, which is nearing completion at the Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) shipyard in Finland, underwent three days of tests to assess operational performance.
