    BADMINTON CONFEDERATION AFRICA STRATEGIC PLAN 2016-2020 About this Document The purpose of this document is to outline the strategic direction of the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA) as a Continental Badminton Confederation for Africa. This document begins with a general introduction of the organisation, the planning process and a brief overview of the strategic plan. The second part of this document details the individual goals and objectives of each strategic areas and priorities. Expected outcomes or key performance indicators are also detailed in the second part. For consistency with the Badminton World Federation and in view of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, this plan has a time frame of 4 years starting 2016 to 2020. Even though this reference period mainly covers the next four years the plan also outline measures which may go beyond this period and can only be reached at a later stage. While this strategic plan will eventually be implemented by BCA Operations, it has to be recognised by all stakeholders and partners and their involvement will be vital for the success of the plan. Consequently, this plan also represents a communication tool to create a common vision and clear objectives on the horizon to work towards for all stakeholders and partners. The Badminton Confederation Africa Badminton Confederation is the continental governing body for the sport commonly known as Badminton in the African territory. The head office of the Confederation is in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. Badminton World Federation recognizes BCA as a Continental Confederation alongside the other Continental Confederation – Badminton Asia, Badminton Europe, Badminton Pan Am Confederation and Badminton Oceania.

    BWF Statutes, Section 5.3.3.2: WORLD JUNIOR RANKING SYSTEM In Force: 24/11/2020 1. Definition and structure 1.1 The World Junior Ranking is a list of Players in order of strength. There is one list for each of the five Badminton Events in the World Junior Ranking and in doubles Events each of the Players are ranked individually. The system used to rank Players is explained below: 1.2 Players: 1.2.1 win ranking points by playing in Tournaments that are graded. 1.2.2 in the World Junior Ranking are ranked if they have played one or more graded Tournaments in the last 52 weeks. 1.2.3 win ranking points by playing in and winning matches in Tournaments. 1.2.4 the higher the level of Tournament, the more points are won. 1.2.5 the further reached in a competition, the more points are won. 1.2.6 can be seeded based on their World Junior Ranking. 1.2.7 can qualify for the Youth Olympic Games based on their World Junior Ranking. 1.3 If a Player formally retires, the Player will be removed from the World Junior Ranking. 1.4 If a Player is suspended from participating in BWF Sanctioned Tournaments due to disciplinary sanctions or other reasons for one year or longer, the Player will be removed from the World Junior Ranking. 2. Tournaments included in the Rankings 2.1 The World Junior Rankings are compiled from the results of BWF World Ranking Tournaments (results from a maximum of 3 BWF World Ranking sanctioned Tournaments may be included in a junior Player’s World Junior Ranking) and the junior Tournaments that are sanctioned by the BWF held over the last 52 week period.

    BADMINTON OCEANIA UPDATE Tuesday 22 September 2015 To: All Badminton Oceania Member Associations It is a busy time of the year with 2015 activities in full swing and planning for 2016 well underway Nadia and I are just back from the annual Continental Workshops conducted by the BWF where we were presented with the draft BWF strategic plan 2016-2020 with some very good discussions around these. Schedule A - BWF BWF has distributed this directly to all MA’s. Can you please ensure you complete and return to BWF by due date – 30 September. It would be appreciated if you can please cc myself and Nadia into the email when submitting so we can also collate details and ensure all our members submit. Please be aware that it is very important this is submitted on time, as this ensures that you will receive funding to the BWF AGM. Please be as accurate as possible when submitting the numbers of players (both registered and playing) as this is important information for both BWF and ourselves.     TALES COCTHE NEWSLETTER OF BWF TECHNICAL OFFICIALS JANUARY 2020 • EDITION NO. 26 TOKYO 2020 FROM THE CHAIR BY By Gilles Cavert GILLES Chair – BWF TOC CAVERT Let me first wish all of you a happy and prosperous new year 2020…… 2020 is a special year with two Major Events being organised: the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. With less than 200 days to go, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are approaching at a very high speed, not only for players, coaches, spectators and TV viewers, but also for TOs. Here, TOs will probably have one of the most exciting weeks of their officiating careers. The Olympic Games, for players, is a dream which come true and every match is played as if it was the match of a lifetime. The search for the gold medal is an incredible challenge, which requires decades of preparation and hard training. This should inspire the BWF TOs selected for both the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to continuously increase their level of performance and willingness to improve, in order to be in line with the players’ expectations. Be prepared in the most efficient way; mentally, physically and technically.
