1 13 /14 493 km/h mit einem Smash: Weltrekord! Der Mann mit dem neuen eingetragenen Weltrekord heisst Tan Boon Heong, Weltklassedoppel- spieler mit Kraft ohne Ende. Das neue Racket, das dazu verwendet wurde, heisst Yonex Nanoray Z-Speed. Thomas Münzner Schon der alte Weltrekord wurde gehalten von Tan Boon sogar 493 km/h. Natürlich ist Badminton damit weiterhin die Heong, aufgestellt vor zwei Jahren mit dem damals ganz schnellste Racketsportart der Welt. Fast doppelt so schnell neuen Racket Arc Saber Z-Slash. Damals erreichte der kräf- wie Tennis, wo der Weltrekord bei 263 km/h liegt, gehalten tige Profi 421 km/h, heute sind es dank neuer Technologie vom Australier Sam Groth. Das neue Rekordracket ist ein grifflastiges aus der bekannten Nanoray-Serie, aber mit einigen technischen Neuerungen: Der Rahmen ist der schmalste der Welt. Auch die Rahmenform ist neu, entwickelt im Windkanal. Insbesondere wurden dabei Luftwirbel, die hinter dem Racket entstehen, minimiert. Insgesamt wurde so der Luftwiderstand um ganze 10% reduziert! Andere Bohrung - gute Idee! Dank dem superschmalen Racketschaft mit modernstem Nano- technologie-Carbon (Nanometric) ist der “Kickback“ fast schon unheimlich. Eine Idee, die auch dazu beiträgt, war es, bei diesem Racket die Saitenlöcher horizontal zu bohren, und nicht in Rich- tung Mitte des Racketkopfes: So wird die Saite erst nach Ver- lassen des Rackets nach aussen auf den Rahmen “umgeknickt“. Und damit ist der flexible Teil der Saite auf jeder Racketkopfseite um ca. 6mm länger, macht also ca. 12mm insgesamt. Je länger die Saite, desto flexibler ist sie. Und je flexibler die Saite, desto mehr Power kommt dabei raus. -

20 APR 1998 Sukma-Badminton KUALA LUMPUR MARA KE SEPARUH AKHIR SHAH ALAM, April 20 (Bernama) -- Juara bertahan dalam acara pasukan lelaki, Kuala Lumpur mara ke separuh akhir apabila mereka mengetepikan Negeri Sembilan 3-0 di dewan Persatuan Badminton Selangor (SBA) di Jalan Kampung Attap hari ini. Kuala Lumpur pada tangga teratas Kumpulan A akan bertemu Perak, pemenang pingat perak Sukma di Kuantan tahun 1996, yang menjuarai Kumpulan D. Kuala Lumpur, yang meletakkan harapan ke atas pemain simpanan skuad kebangsaan Ramesh Nathan, dengan muda menewaskan Liew Chee Cheong dari Negeri Sembilan 15-3,15-6. Terdahulu dalam perlawanan perseorangan Yap Yee Jyen mengalahkan Lee Yong Fah meskipun kalah set pertama, 4-15, 15-4, 15-8. Mahathir Mustafa dan Subramaniam terpaksa bekerja keras sebelum memusnahkan Chong Chun Cheong dan Chan Jia Hnoh juga dalam tiga set 15-2, 9-15, 18-13. Selangor yang juga memburu pingat menurunkan Chan Chong Ming, pemain kebangsaan dalam skuad kelayakan Piala Thomas di Manila Mac lepas, mengesahkan tempat di dalam separuh akhir dan menjuarai Kumpulan B setelah menyingkir Perlis 2-1. Chong Ming berpasangan dengan Yap Yee Min menang mudah 15-10, 15-2 di atas Sairul Amar dan A'amar Hashim. Terdahulu Siew Yian Siai menewaskan Sairul Amar dari Perlis 15-7, 15-9 dan Perlis menyamakan kedudukan melalui kemenangan Makhazim Mohamad yang mengalahkan Tan Soo Sen 15-12, 15-2. The Star Online > Central Saturday April 8, 2006 Nurturing new talents By NG WEI LOON Photos by GLENN GUAN [email protected] THE Bakti Siti Hasmah building administration board, led by its chairman Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, has embarked on a sports community project with the launch of Tunas Juara (Budding Champions) Bakti badminton development programme at the Bakti Siti Hasmah building multi-purpose hall last Tuesday . The programme was initiated to provide an avenue for children from lower-income families to undergo weekly training sessions under the guidance of four Kuala Lumpur Schools Sports Council (MSSKL) coaches – Seow Cheng Ping, Wong Kok Wai, Ahmad Nawawi Che Ahmad and Mohd Suhaili Yunus. Dr Siti Hasmah (right) and Faris wait for the shuttle. “Champions are not born but made. Building a solid foundation at the grassroots is the only way to achieve success in the future. “Children need to be nurtured and guided with the right motivation, enthusiasm and discipline in the pursuit of excellence,” said Dr Siti Hasmah, who officiated the launch. Bakti acting president Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Nadzmi Salleh and Federal Territory Education Department director Noor Rezan Bapoo Hashim were also present at the launch. Nadzmi credited Bakti for sharing the same vision with BAM to produce an abundance of talents for the future. “We are pleased that Bakti is assisting us in junior development by creating a broader base at grassroots. -

Strategic Plan 2016-2020
BADMINTON CONFEDERATION AFRICA STRATEGIC PLAN 2016-2020 About this Document The purpose of this document is to outline the strategic direction of the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA) as a Continental Badminton Confederation for Africa. This document begins with a general introduction of the organisation, the planning process and a brief overview of the strategic plan. The second part of this document details the individual goals and objectives of each strategic areas and priorities. Expected outcomes or key performance indicators are also detailed in the second part. For consistency with the Badminton World Federation and in view of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, this plan has a time frame of 4 years starting 2016 to 2020. Even though this reference period mainly covers the next four years the plan also outline measures which may go beyond this period and can only be reached at a later stage. While this strategic plan will eventually be implemented by BCA Operations, it has to be recognised by all stakeholders and partners and their involvement will be vital for the success of the plan. Consequently, this plan also represents a communication tool to create a common vision and clear objectives on the horizon to work towards for all stakeholders and partners. The Badminton Confederation Africa Badminton Confederation is the continental governing body for the sport commonly known as Badminton in the African territory. The head office of the Confederation is in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. Badminton World Federation recognizes BCA as a Continental Confederation alongside the other Continental Confederation – Badminton Asia, Badminton Europe, Badminton Pan Am Confederation and Badminton Oceania. -

VAL NESBITT TROPHY & AUSTRALIAN UNDER 15 INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS BY-LAWS AUSTRALIAN UNDER 15 VAL NESBITT CARNIVAL BY-LAWS 27.1 ELIGIBILITY 27.1.1. Teams shall be restricted to any State or Region within the boundaries and affiliated to either the Australian Badminton Association or the New Zealand Badminton Federation, and additional teams representing nations affiliated to the BWF, subject also to the provisions of 27.3. 27.1.2. Competitors must have bona-fide registration to the national association affiliated to the BWF of the country where they normally reside. 27.1.3. All competitors must be under the age of 15 years on December 31 of the year in which the carnival is held. 27.1.4. The Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory may combine to form a team to be known as “The Territories”. Any team so formed will be an official team in the event and may also include players from the State hosting the event. Such players will be chosen by and at the discretion of the host State. 27.1.5. Players who have made themselves available for selection in their State or Territory team but were not selected ARE eligible to enter the Individual Championships subject to rule 27.3.3. and 27.3.4 27.2 STRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT 27.2.1. A series of Teams Championship ties and Individual Championship events shall be conducted over not fewer than four days commencing in the September school holiday period of the host association each year. 27.2.2. Competition for the Val Nesbitt Trophy will be a Teams Championship series. -

Most of the pictures were taken from the internet or from the BWF website or at BWF events. • Finally, it is in the best interest of BWF Continental technical chairs to use this training manual to near standardize the development of umpires all over the world. 4 Preface • The training manual aims to improve the knowledge, the understanding, experience and vision of the umpire so that he/she can make accurate and fair decisions according to international standards. 5 Objectives of the training manual: • 1. To develop a standardized umpires’ training manual that will serve as a guide or model for all Member Associations. • 2. To provide printed material to be available to all potential umpires attending a course or clinic.
