CURRENT AFFAIRS= 19/20-11-2020 India Ranks 111 in Human Freedom Index 2020; New Zealand Tops India has been ranked at the 111th spot out of 162 countries in the Human Freedom Index 2020. In 2019, India was ranked 94 on the index. The overall human freedom score of India in 2020 was 6.43. New Zealand (8.87), Switzerland (8.82) and Hong Kong (8.74) has bagged the first three spots. Syrian Arab Republic is the last ranked country with the human freedom score of 3.97 out of 10. Human Freedom Index 2020 The Human Freedom Index is published by American think tank Cato Institute and Fraser Institute in Canada. The index ranks a country based on the civil, economic and personal freedom, enjoyed by the resident of that country. It has taken into account 76 indicators of personal, civil, and economic freedoms to rank 162 countries. These indicators are grouped in 12 major parameters. The 2020 Index has taken into account the data from 2008 to 2018. The countries get score on a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 represents more freedom. RBI extends restrictions on PMC Bank for 3 months till 31 March 2020 The Reserve Bank of India has further extended the restrictions on crisis-ridden Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank by three months till 31 March, 2021. The bank has also received four Expression of Interest (EoI) for its revival. To examine them, the bank would need some more time. These proposals will be examined by the bank with regard to their viability and feasibility taking into account the best interest of the depositors. -

European sports policies of the past decade are characterised by numerous activities and by on-going differentiation. Against this backdrop, the study presents policy options in four key areas: the first covers the need for stronger coordination; the second aims at the setting of thematic priorities; the third addresses the reinforcement of the role of the EP in sport and the fourth stipulates enhanced monitoring. BADMINTON CONFEDERATION AFRICA STRATEGIC PLAN 2016-2020 About this Document The purpose of this document is to outline the strategic direction of the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA) as a Continental Badminton Confederation for Africa. This document begins with a general introduction of the organisation, the planning process and a brief overview of the strategic plan. The second part of this document details the individual goals and objectives of each strategic areas and priorities. Expected outcomes or key performance indicators are also detailed in the second part. For consistency with the Badminton World Federation and in view of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, this plan has a time frame of 4 years starting 2016 to 2020. Even though this reference period mainly covers the next four years the plan also outline measures which may go beyond this period and can only be reached at a later stage. While this strategic plan will eventually be implemented by BCA Operations, it has to be recognised by all stakeholders and partners and their involvement will be vital for the success of the plan. Consequently, this plan also represents a communication tool to create a common vision and clear objectives on the horizon to work towards for all stakeholders and partners. The Badminton Confederation Africa Badminton Confederation is the continental governing body for the sport commonly known as Badminton in the African territory. The head office of the Confederation is in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. Badminton World Federation recognizes BCA as a Continental Confederation alongside the other Continental Confederation – Badminton Asia, Badminton Europe, Badminton Pan Am Confederation and Badminton Oceania. -

Most of the pictures were taken from the internet or from the BWF website or at BWF events. • Finally, it is in the best interest of BWF Continental technical chairs to use this training manual to near standardize the development of umpires all over the world. 4 Preface • The training manual aims to improve the knowledge, the understanding, experience and vision of the umpire so that he/she can make accurate and fair decisions according to international standards. 5 Objectives of the training manual: • 1. The History of Badminton: Badminton House and Estate lies in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside and is the private home of the 12th Duke and Duchess of Beaufort and the Somerset family. The House is not normally open to the general public, it dates from the 17th century and is set in a beautiful deer park which hosts the world-famous Badminton Horse Trials. The Great Hall at Badminton House is famous for an incident on a rainy day in 1863 when the game of badminton was said to have been invented by friends of the 8th Duke of Beaufort. -
