(Tri NZ) and the sport of triathlon generally are in very strong shape. When I wrote last year’s report the Olympic Games were just getting into full swing, and one year later the games seem like an age ago. Our Olympic athletes returned some excellent results, and of course particular congratulations go to Bevan Docherty for picking up a second Olympic medal. Whilst I know some of our Olympians are lamenting a day that didn’t end up quite as perfectly as they had dreamed of, I have no doubt that each one of the Kiwi’s prepared as well as they could and gave everything they had on the day. Congratulations to you all and to Stephen Farrell and the High Performance team for running a particularly successful Olympic campaign. Once again Kiwi triathletes have featured on the encouraging rate. This year more than 2,600 entries international arena in all sorts of exotic (and not so were received for the seven races, and the new event exotic) locations around the world.

26th ITU CongSess Monday, 16 September 2013 London, UK President Marisol Casado IOC Member San Bernardino, 14 28015, Madrid, Spain Madrid, August 16, 2013 Dear ITU Members, dear colleagues, As we approach the end of the first year of my second term as president of ITU, I am very pleased to welcome all of you to the 26th ITU Congress in the Olympic City of London. While we are together in September, we will be able to remember the fantastic moments we had during the great Olympic Games in London 2012. First, I would like to thank our colleagues from the British Federation and our partner Upsolut for all the support they are providing us in the organization of the 26th ITU Congress and Grand Final. Following the Congress in Auckland where I had the privilege to being re‐elected as ITU President, thanks to your support, we had a very important year for the future of our Sport in the Olympic Movement. We were able to keep triathlon as part of the core sports of the Olympic Programme. Although the IOC did not open the possibility of increasing the number of events for the Río 2016 Olympic Games, we will keep working in promoting our Mixed Relay event for future Olympic Games. I am sure we will succeed soon. We have also increased our contribution to Development, by doubling the resources to all Continental Confederations, as part of the promise I made in Auckland. We have consolidated the World Triathlon Series by increasing the television coverage, the quality and security of the events, and the prize money to our athletes.
