Signs of Love By Jusak Yang Bernhard and Jeff Manley, owners of TailsSpin Pet Food & Accessories

Being psychic, we are not. But that does not stop us from wondering what our pets are thinking about. We will forever strive to communicate with them, hoping to determine whether or not they are comfortable, happy, hurt, or sad. As they are members of the family, knowing their behaviors certainly helps shed light upon how they bond with us. Dogs and humans are so deeply intertwined. In many studies, scientists found that dogs have developed ways expressing their love for their two-legged owners. A dog can actually sense whether or not you love him or her.

Pets, we feel, have special powers in subtly giving us signs of their love:

Tail Wagging — How the unconditional love they give us is shown when they see you, shown by tail wagging and/ Leaning — Sometimes a dog will lean on a human because or tail spinning. Their way of greeting you when you come he is anxious, wants you to do something, or take him home certainly will melt your heart and assure you of their somewhere. Leaning is a symbol of affection. If your dog is love…and along with tail wagging, tail spinning, they may leaning on you out of pure nervousness, he is still doing it also slobber you with kisses. because he thinks of you as someone who can protect him and keep him safe. Staring — When a dog looks at you while the two of you are playing with one another or just cuddling, oxytocin is Yawning — A pet would copy your yawning, to show that released. It’s the same hormone that helps new mothers he is in a comfortable state with you. bond with their babies. Watching Calmly — If you notice that a dog is calm when you leave, this is a sign that he knows that you will come back. Sleeping In Your Room — Often, you will find that your pet was sleeping on your bed when you were away. This may be a sign that he wants to be near your scent.

Bringing You Gifts — When a pet brings you his toy or what he has hunted, often this means that he is showing you that he views you as his pack leader, and chooses to share it with you and to please you.

Following & Shadowing You — This is probably a great sign to show you that he is safe when he is near you. Allowing you to lead is his way of showing his devotion.

In what ways does your beloved pup most often show you his or her love? Tell us about the special bonds you have with your pets. Also, send us your pet pictures, so we can post them.

Just A Thought by Tricksie Turner

As October quickly approaches, so does my birthday. I will be 46 years old and lovin’ every minute of it. It never fails that I tend to become nostalgic around this time and reminisce over the past year and sometimes even further. However, I will not bore you with how my past year went again, as I already shared that in last month’s issue. What I will do, is try and challenge you to make the year ahead the best one yet! Now, growing up in a church setting and pastoring for so many years, I would always hear folks say, “The best is yet to come!” I have to say I believe that now more than ever. I find myself in the midst of a wonderful and supporting family who has carried me through some of the toughest parts of life’s journey and friends whom I completely cherish. I wanna stop here and share with you one of my biggest fears. It is FAILURE and that I will disappoint people. I have never really been a follower. I have always been a leader and have chosen to surround myself with people of greatness, so I set self-expectations very high for myself hence I am afraid I will let folks down. But through the years I have come to realize that success only comes through failure. …continued from page 1 Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb overnight — he tried almost 500 times. Legend, Icon, and Friend, Lady Chablis by Tricksie Turner

The world was introduced to her through ’s book, Midnight in the Garden Of Good and Evil, a novel about the infamous Jim Williams murder trial. However, I was honored to become friends with her from the moment I introduced her to “Chablis Sauce.” I was working at the wonderful Bay Café when we decided to name a sandwich after her, “The Lady’s Kickin’ Chicken.” I created a sauce with a little spice and Chablis Sauce was introduced to Savannah and its visitors. Lady Chablis fell in love with it, and every time she was at the club, she would always call me and say, “Tricksie B****, don’t forget my 2 two Sandwiches with that Chablis Sauce and my quesadilla.” I loved how much she enjoyed the food. Through the past few years I really enjoyed just sitting and talking with her. It broke my heart to watch her deal with physical illnesses. I would watch as she came to the basement of Club One and people would flock to her and she would jokingly (however serious) tell them she was trying to enjoy herself. Many times she would make hilarious comments to and about our patrons, and it would absolutely about her, my friend and boss, Travis Coles, had gone to make me laugh and I would say to myself, “Thank God that visit her. I asked if she wanted any visitors and he said the ain’t me she is making fun of.” family was limiting the number of those who visit. My heart I had the privilege of being a part of her show one Saturday sunk when I woke to the news that THE LADY CHABLIS had Night — I did one of my comedic parodies and at the end passed away. I was heartbroken, but my sorrow quickly to of it the audience was laughing so hard and loud that I as turned to gratitude for the chance to know her as a friend I walked off stage, she said, “what kinda’ foolishness were and a sister. you doin’ out there?” I had no idea she was right behind the I am Thankful today for the life she lived and the legacy curtain watching — we both just laughed and she made one she leaves. As she came out the door she dove into my back seat saying “let’s go girl!” I couldn’t stop laughing — it was like a red carpet event and paparazzi A reception will follow at Club One, beginning at all around.
