A Neoceratopsian Dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous of Mongolia And
ARTICLE https://doi.org/10.1038/s42003-020-01222-7 OPEN A neoceratopsian dinosaur from the early Cretaceous of Mongolia and the early evolution of ceratopsia ✉ Congyu Yu 1 , Albert Prieto-Marquez2, Tsogtbaatar Chinzorig 3,4, Zorigt Badamkhatan4,5 & Mark Norell1 1234567890():,; Ceratopsia is a diverse dinosaur clade from the Middle Jurassic to Late Cretaceous with early diversification in East Asia. However, the phylogeny of basal ceratopsians remains unclear. Here we report a new basal neoceratopsian dinosaur Beg tse based on a partial skull from Baruunbayan, Ömnögovi aimag, Mongolia. Beg is diagnosed by a unique combination of primitive and derived characters including a primitively deep premaxilla with four pre- maxillary teeth, a trapezoidal antorbital fossa with a poorly delineated anterior margin, very short dentary with an expanded and shallow groove on lateral surface, the derived presence of a robust jugal having a foramen on its anteromedial surface, and five equally spaced tubercles on the lateral ridge of the surangular. This is to our knowledge the earliest known occurrence of basal neoceratopsian in Mongolia, where this group was previously only known from Late Cretaceous strata. WORKING GROUP I CONTRIBUTION TO THE IPCC FIFTH ASSESSMENT REPORT CLIMATE CHANGE 2013: THE PHYSICAL SCIENCE BASIS Final Draft Underlying Scientific-Technical Assessment A report accepted by Working Group I of the IPCC but not approved in detail. Note: The final draft Report, dated 7 June 2013, of the Working Group I contribution to the IPCC 5th Assessment Report "Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis" was accepted but not approved in detail by the 12th Session of Working Group I and the 36th Session of the IPCC on 26 September 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden. It consists of the full scientific and technical assessment undertaken by Working Group I. The Report has to be read in conjunction with the document entitled “Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis. Working Group I Contribution to the IPCC 5th Assessment Report - Changes to the underlying Scientific/Technical Assessment” to ensure consistency with the approved Summary for Policymakers (IPCC-XXVI/Doc.4) and presented to the Panel at its 36th Session. This document lists the changes necessary to ensure consistency between the full Report and the Summary for Policymakers, which was approved line-by-line by Working Group I and accepted by the Panel at the above- mentioned Sessions. Before publication the Report will undergo final copyediting as well as any error correction as necessary, consistent with the IPCC Protocol for Addressing Possible Errors. Publication of the Report is foreseen in January 2014. Knauss, the noted oceanographer whose research and advocacy helped raised alarms about the delicate state of the world’s oceans, died Nov. 19, according to The Associated Press. He was 90. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1946, where he studied as part of the United States Navy’s V-12 program, Knauss earned a master's degree in physics from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. His work quickly become pivotal to the nascent national debate on the environment and water quality, and his pioneering work as a member of the influential Stratton Commission on the report "Our Nation and the Sea: A Plan for National Action" led to the creation of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the formation of the Coastal Zone Management Act. -

As used in this report, the Woods Hole region includes that part of I he New England coast easily accessible in one-day excursions by steamer from the U. S. Fish Commission station at Woods Hole, Mass. The northern point of Cape Cod is the limit in one direction, and New London, Conn., is the opposite extreme. Seaward the region would naturally extend to about the 100- fathom line, but for the purposes of this report the 50-fathom line has been taken as the limit, the reason for this being that as the Gulf Stream is approached we meet with an echinodcrm fauna so totally different from that along shore that the two have little in common. -

Attualmente risiede in Belgio dove svolge attività come specialista nel settore dei Sistemi di Informazione Geografica e analisi di immagini digitali. Curatore scientifico del Museo Back to the Past, ha pubblicato numerosi volumi di paleontologia in lingua italiana e inglese, collaborando inoltre all’elaborazione di testi e pubblicazioni scientifiche a livello nazonale e internazionale. Oltre alla passione per questa classe di artropodi, i suoi interessi sono orientati alle forme di vita vissute nel Precambriano, stromatoliti, e fossilizzazioni tipo konservat-lagerstätte. Carlo Kier nato a Milano nel 1961, Carlo si è laureato in Legge, ed è attualmente presidente della catena di alberghi Azul Hotel. Risiede a Cancun, Messico, dove si dedica ad attività legate all'ambiente marino. All'età di 16 anni, ha iniziato una lunga collaborazione con il Museo di Storia Naturale di Milano, ed è a partire dal 1970 che prese inizio la vera passione per i trilobiti, dando avvio a quella che oggi è diventata una delle collezioni paleontologiche più importanti al mondo.
