3 LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

The objects of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society are: • To advance, promote and improve agricultural and horticultural industries and associated trades, crafts and professions. • The advancement of environmental protection and improvement through the encouragement of sustainable management of natural resources. As a registered Charity the Society pursues these objects through a wide variety of activities, one of these being the annual Lincolnshire Show. Livestock Notes • Cancellation Statement There may be circumstances where the show has to be postponed, cancelled, abandoned or curtailed as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the Society, for example as a result of a security alert or as a result of inclement weather making it impractical to hold the Show. In such circumstances once any administration fees have been deducted, entry fees will be refunded. The Society will have no liability for loss or damage suffered by exhibitors or others.

• Wednesday Evening Exhibitors’ Entertainment Once again, the Society will provide entertainment on the Wednesday evening in the Stockman’s Marquee. Additionally, there will also be entertainment provided in the Member’s Area on Wednesday evening, after the Main Ring Events have concluded.

• Honarary Show Veterinary Surgeon The LAS would like to thank Orchard House Veterinary Surgery, Metheringham, Lincoln for all their help at the Lincolnshire Show.

4 • The EU Welfare of Animals in Transport Regulation (EC) No 1/2005.

All exhibitors must ensure that they comply fully with the current legislation issued by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs regarding the above Transport Regulation which came into force in January 2007 and are able to provide the appropriate documentation at the Show to the relevant governing authority. For the purposes of this article, mammals shall not be considered fit for transport if they (a) are unfit animals (see DEFRA website Annex 1 Chapter 1 of Council Regulation 1/2005). (b) are pregnant female animals that have reached the latest stage of gestation (within 10% of the estimated time of the gestation before birth) and for a period of one week after giving birth. (c) are very young animals except if the journey is less than 100km, eg calves of less than 10 days of age, pigs less than 3 weeks of age and lambs of less than one week. (d) calves of less than 14 days of age on journeys exceeding 8 hours will not be permitted.

• Stock Attendent Awards The LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY will present an award to the STOCK ATTENDANT responsible for the preparation and exhibition of the animal judged Breed Supreme Champion in the Cattle, Sheep, and Pig sections. These will be presented at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 19th June in the Stockmans Marquee.

Reminder for ALL CATTLE Exhibitors from Trading Standards:- CATTLE must be tagged in accordance with the Cattle Identification Regulations 1998. (Failure to do so may result in the animal being sent home)

RESPONSIBILITY A. Please ensure that you are aware of DEFRA information regarding cattle Movements and Health regulations. It is your responsibility to keep up to date with any change of policies/legislation etc. B. All Livestock Exhibitors should ensure that they have adequate Public Liability Insurance Cover. All exhibitors are responsible for the observance by themselves, their employees, representatives or contractors of all Health & Safety at Work Regulations. C. Smoking is NOT PERMITTED in any of the livestock lines and neighbouring areas. D. Please dispose of any litter in the bins provided. E. Bovine Tuberculosis: Where a herd is subject to 12-monthly TB testing and so must undergo pre-movement TB testing, please bring a copy of the results with you to the Show. Please observe the current DEFRA regulations regarding pre and post-movement TB Testing. For advice on Bovine TB please visit tbhub.co.uk

CATTLE ENTRIES will be accepted on the following basis: • LAS Membership must be held in the name of the Exhibitor (i.e. the Owner) to qualify for Entry Membership Discount • Every animal entered MUST be the property of the Exhibitor and its Passport MUST be in the Name of the Exhibitor. Transfer of Ownership Documentation must be completed before the Show. • Each animal may only be entered for one Cattle Class. However, this animal may then go into the relevant section’s Pairs/Group Class(es). Please ensure that you enter and pay for all Pair/Group classes (marked with the suffix ‘*’) in advance of the Show, no on-the-day bookings will be accepted. All entries are of course, eligible for any Special and Championship Classes which may be offered in each section. • The Closing date for entries is Tuesday 23rd April. Substitute and additional entries WILL NOT be accepted after this date.

1. Entries are required to arrive on the Showground by 6pm. on Tuesday, th 18th June, and must remain until 5pm on Thursday 20 June. (Exception - Commercial Beef entries to arrive before 4pm Tuesday)

9 2. All animals must be accustomed to being tied or haltered and exhibitors will be responsible for presenting them.

3. Where an entry is found to be entered in the wrong class it will be transferred automatically.

4. The Society reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry or class and will automatically cancel any class in which there are insufficient entries. The Society also reserves the right to restrict entries if numbers exceed those which can be adequately dealt with.

5. Exhibitors entering cattle in more than one breed section must indicate the number of stalls required per breed on the Booking Form. All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand in their respective breed lines(with Stewards discretion where needed).

6. All Commercial Cattle must be housed in the Commercial Cattle Lines.

7. Where cows are entered with a calf at foot the exhibitor is required to book two standings and include the Calf’s date of birth and ear tag details on the entry form.

8. Due to a limited number of stalls available, please only book a maximum of one kit pen per exhibitor.

9. All cattle must be paraded in accordance with the instructions of the Honorary Show Director and Stewards in a safe and responsible manner. Any Exhibitor not parading some of their cattle in the Grand Parade will forfeit any prize money. Bulls must be paraded with two handlers in the Grand Parade. All cattle forward in the Grand Parade on Thursday 20th June will receive a £5 Cash Payment.

10. Nobody under the age of 16 may be in charge of an animal in the Grand Parade.

11. Prizes will be awarded according to the number of entries forward at the time of judging.

The Lincolnshire Show Team Award organised by The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society. This competition which will be judged in the cattle lines, will cover such aspects as presentation and welfare of cattle, cleanliness of lines, marketing and promotion of the herd and the owner’s staff associated with each herd. ALL Pure-Bred Beef, Commercial and Dairy Cattle Exhibitors are eligible. The winners will be announced during the Inter-Breed Competitions on Thursday.

A maximum of 12 entries will be accepted in to this class.

Class to be held immediately after the Lincoln Red Bull Classes on Wednesday. 6. Heifers entered in this Class can not be entered in any other Lincoln Red Breed Class on Wednesday. 7. 30 YOUNG BEEF CATTLE HANDLING COMPETITION Judge: Mr A Hargreaves SPALDING Judging will take place on Thursday 20th June after the Inter Breed Championships Beef

Conditions: 1 Any beef animal from the female Pure Breed or female Commercial Beef Classes are to be used in this class, no bulls are permitted under any circumstances. Please note that the animal should match the size of the Handler. 2 In these classes it is the handler that is judged and not the animal. Normal showing attire must be worn during judging. No rosettes to be displayed in the ring. 3 Owners of the cattle must ensure that the young person is capable of controlling the animal being shown. Children must always be under the supervision of and accompanied by a competent adult. 4 The judge has the authority to ask any exhibitor not having sufficient control of his/her animal to leave the ring. Entry: • No entry fee, entries to be made on Show days. A sign up sheet will be displayed at the Livestock Office in the Livestock Lines.

Qualifiers: a) This show is a qualifier for the East of England Agricultural Society Winter Stock Festival YOUNG STOCK PERSON OF THE YEAR, with the finals taking place at the East of England Showground on Saturday 30th November. Qualifying competitors to be between the ages of 15 years and 21 years on the day of the show and be placed 1st or 2nd in the appropriate classes (classes 335 and 336). A note on Malpractice: Any artificial contrivance or device of any description found onor proved to have been used on an animal at any time whilst that animal is in the Showground, either for preventing the flow of milk or for any other improper purpose, will disqualify that animal from being awarded a prize, and any prize awarded prior to discovery will be forfeited. The Instigator or The Owner of the said animal may be prohibited from again entering Stock for any of the Society’s Shows, for such period as the Committee may see fit. For the purpose of this Regulation, the term ‘improper practice’ shall be held to include setting of teats, and generally any other practice including tampering or of their own or any other animal by the exhibitor or any other person which results in the animals being shown other than in a natural state, and the Society reserves the right to have all animals inspected by the Society’s Veterinary Officers, either prior to, during, or after judging. The Society will not tolerate the administration to show exhibits of tranquillisers or other drugs which may in any way affect the performance of the animal in question to have the effect of making it behave in the show ring in a manner which is not natural. The Society reserves the right to take any necessary samples. Any Person or Exhibitor (or his representative) who is found to have administered or permitted the administration of any such tranquilliser or drugs to any Show exhibit will be reported to the Organising Committee, and dealt with at their discretion. In addition the matter will be referred to the appropriate Breed Society or Organisation. Any Exhibitor wishing to lodge an objection, having reference to Livestock exhibited at this Show. Conditions: 1 Only Heifers (can be maiden or in calf) under 30 months of age to be used in this class. Please note that the animal should match the size of the Handler. 2 In these classes it is the handler that is judged and not the animal. Normal showing attire must be worn during judging. Dairy 3 No rosettes to be displayed in the ring. 4 Owners of the cattle must ensure that the young person is capable of controlling the animal being shown. Children must always be under the supervision of and accompanied by a competent adult. 5 The judge has the authority to ask any exhibitor not having sufficient control of his/her animal to leave the ring. 6 The age boundaries of the classes may be amended by the Stewards to suit the ages of entries forward on the day. SHEEP ENTRIES will be accepted on the following basis: • Entries close on Tuesday 23rd April 2019. Late entries will not be accepted and entries in all sections will be subject to space, accom- modation and availability. • Each animal may only be entered for one Sheep Class, however, this animal may then go into a Group Class and the Wool on the Hoof classes (entries for this must be made in advance of the Show). All entries are of course eligible for Special and Championship Classes which may be offered. • A limited number of MV sheep pens 4’ x 4’ and Non-MV Sheep Pens 4’ x 4’ will be available at the Show and allocated on a first come, first served basis. • Covered accommodation will be provided for all SHEEP. 63 THE LINCOLNSHIRE FLEECE COMPETITION Judge: Mr C Jarvis STAMFORD To be judged on the morning of Wednesday 19th June (THE FLEECE COMPETITION WILL BE STAGED IN THE SHEEP LINES.)

Conditions 1 A competitor may enter any number of the classes, but can only submit two fleeces per class. 2 For the purpose of the competition the fleeces must be neatly rolled and submitted in bags. 3 The bag must be labelled by the competitor. Each label must show clearly: • Name of Competitor • Address of Competitor • Class entered • Breed or Cross • ONE LABEL should be placed inside the container; THE OTHER secured on the outside. 4 All exhibits must be delivered to the Steward of the section by 5.30pm. on Tuesday 18th June, or they will be too late for th Sheep competition. Exhibits should not arrive before 18 June, and should be removed from the Showground between 4.00pm and 5.00pm on Thursday 20th June. The Society will not be responsible for the safe delivery or keeping of the fleeces. Any fleeces not collected will be disposed of. 5. If there are fewer than 5 entries for any particular class the number of prizes awarded will be at the judge’s discretion. 6 Fleeces that are artificially stained or artificially coloured or fastened with any form of twine will be eliminated. 7 The competition will be judged on a points system and the decision of the Judge is final. 8 It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that fleeces are entered in the correct class. 66 YOUNG SHEEP HANDLER COMPETITION Judge: Miss E Crust BURTON on TRENT Judging: This class will take place on Thursday 20th June, after the Inter-Breed Sheep Classes. Conditions: • It is a condition of entry that children should only handle animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with the said animal. Children must always be under the supervision of and accompanied by a competent adult, and the animal should match the size of the handler. • All Lambs or Sheep must be halter trained and must have been shown in the breed classes at this Show. Handlers must be aged between 5 and 16 years old. • Children under the age of 5 will not be allowed to compete. • Classes will be judged on the Handlers ability. • Handlers to be suitably dressed for the breed that they are leading. • Entries accepted on the day, no entry fee required. • Rosettes to all competitors.

Qualifiers: a) This show is a qualifier for the East of England Agricultural Society Winter Stock Festival YOUNG STOCK PERSON OF THE YEAR, with the finals taking place at the East of England Showground on Saturday 30th November. Qualifying competitors to be between the ages of 15 years and 21 years on the day of the show and be placed 1st or 2nd in the appropriate classes (classes 533 and 534). A qualifying rosette will be provided for each competitor by the Sheep East of England Agricultural Society and a registration card which must be completed and returned by the competitor to the East of England Agricultural Society by the 1st October. You will not be eligible to compete at the Final without returning the registration card. 69 GENERAL CONDITIONS Relating to Prize Offers to Agricultural Show Societies, 2019 The British Pig Association offers prizes to Agricultural Show Societies subject to their accepting the following Conditions:

1 Separate classes (at least three) to be provided for each breed to which the prizes relate. 2 Classes to be open to competitors residing in any part of the United Kingdom. 3 BPA rosettes will be awarded only to members of the British Pig Association. 4 Judges to be selected from British Pig Association official lists and may be accompanied by a BPA appointed apprentice judge. 5 IMPORTANT Identifying information for each exhibit to appear in catalogues in the following order: (Primary ID = HDL/Ear No.) - in brackets; registered name; Herd Book number; date born; names and Herd Book numbers of sire and dam; together with the name of the breeder, if different from that of the exhibitor. Please note that all the above information can be found in the BPA on-line herdbook in the pedigree pigs section of our website at www.britishpigs.orgExhibitors should supply the registration number of each pig on their entry form. This number can then be used to display all the information required for the catalogue. Show societies are requested to use this facility to verify that the information supplied on the entry form is correct before printing the catalogue. 6 The BPA Special Conditions published to Societies, defining breeding requirement etc. for certain ages of pig, to appear in Show Schedules. SPECIAL CONDITIONS for ALL Pig Exhibitors (Modern and Traditional Breeds) 1. Pigs to have been registered in a published volume or accepted for entry in a forthcoming volume of the British Pig Association’s Herd Book. (It is not sufficient for an animal to be “eligible for registration”). Animals registered in a Grading Register of a Herd Book are not eligible for entry in Agricultural Show Classes. The ear number, registered name, Herd Book number and date of birth of each pig must be supplied for printing in the catalogue together with the name of the breeder in cases where the exhibitor is not also the breeder.

At all Shows in 2019, female pigs (all breeds) born before 1st January 2018 shall be eligible to compete only if in the six calendar months prior to the Show they have farrowed, suckled and reared to four weeks of age, a litter of pigs. 3. At All Shows in 2019 female pigs born on or after 1st January and before 1st July in the year before the show must within 18 months of their date of birth have farrowed, suckled and reared to four weeks of age a litter of pigs 4. Boars of two years of age and over (all breeds) are to be certified as having sired at least three live litters within the twelve months preceding the first day of the Show. The pigs comprising such litters are to have been litter notified in the British Pig Association’s Herd Book or proof of their birth must have been given to the Association. 5. Boars aged twelve months or more at the time of exhibition, must have their tusks cut prior to the Show. 6. All boars must be shown by two competent handlers who are equipped with protective boards. 7. The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder on pigs as well as the removal or addition of spots by artificial means is prohibited (white woodflour is permitted).

A condition of entering the competition is that prize winners at preliminary rounds must intend to exhibit at the Final. 3. The award is open to all breeds of pedigree pigs entered in this Show. The object is to determine the best modern and traditional breed pigs as an example of their respective breeds. 4. All animals entered in this Competition must be the property of a member of the British Pig Association or the British Lop Society and must be registered in a Herdbook of the British Pig Association or The British Lop Pig Society. 5. To be eligible for a qualifying round a pig (male or female) must be born on or after 1st July of the year previous to the Show (see 7 below). A pig judged Best Male (Modern or Traditional) or Best Female (Modern or Traditional) in a qualifying round cannot compete in any subsequent round. If a pig having qualified at an earlier show again qualifies at a later show the judge for that breed shall select an alternative pig of the same breed and sex from any class covering the required age group. 6. Where a single breed has more than one class covering the required age group for either sex, so permitting more than one 1st prize animal, the judge must nominate one of these for the qualifying round. 7. Where there are multi-breed classes, i.e. any other modern/any other traditional breed or a similar classification, the judge must nominate the best male and best female of the qualifying age of each breed represented (regardless of class prizes). These pigs will compete in the qualifying round with eligible entries from individual breed classes. 8. At each qualifying round the judge will select the Best Male from a Modern Breed, Best Male from a Traditional Breed, Best Female from a Modern Breed, Best Female from a Traditional Breed, Best Pig and Reserve Best Pig.

9. The Best Males (Modern and Traditional) and Best Females Pigs (Modern and Traditional) from each of the qualifying rounds will qualify for the Final to be held at the Great Yorkshire Show. 10. 82 ALL Exhibitors are asked to read carefully THE LINCOLNSHIRE SHOW REGULATIONS and INFORMATION LIVESTOCK 1 Holding Number This Schedule is issued subject to the orders (if any) of DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and Local Authorities, which may be operative at the time of the Show. For your information the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s County Parish Holding Number is 24/654/8003 2 Application of Entries Before making an entry please ensure that you have read all the information at the beginning of each section, and the specific details of each class. Entrants should be properly registered with any specific Breed Societies appropriate to the class at the point of making the entry. Animals will be catalogued under the name of the registered owner. If you are paying the LAS membership rate of entry fees, the rate will only apply to the animals owned by and entered in that name. The LAS will not accept responsibility for the correctness of any pedigree or other particulars inserted in the Show Catalogue, although every care will be taken to ensure accuracy. Entry fees will not be refunded to exhibitors who enter ineligible entries. 3 Paper Entries Please download both the Booking Forms and the Entry Forms from www.lincolnshireshow.co.uk/competitions/livestock or photocopy originals which can be obtained from the LAS office. If entering the same exhibit in a PAIR or GROUP class, i.e. those classes marked with the suffix ‘*’, use an oblique, for example CLASS 209 / 215*/ 216* and make the appropriate payment. The Society reserves the right to refuse any entry without providing reasons. 6 Cancellation of Entries The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s Show Committee reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry, class or section, and will automatically cancel any section in which there are insufficient entries. All entry fees will be refunded in these circumstances. Information

83 7 Refunds Refunds on entry fees will only be considered if a vet/medical certificate is supplied to the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society office by 12noon on Friday 21st June, stating that the animal/exhibitor is unfit to show, and provided that the exhibitor pack, containing all wristbands, vehicle passes etc. are returned unused to the Livestock & Equine Secretary by 12 noon on Monday 24th June 2019. Entries not forward for any reason other than injury or illness will forfeit all entry fees. 8 Ownership Every exhibit must be the bona-fide property of the ‘Owner’ at the time of entry. It is the Owners name that will appear in the Catalogue. This does not prevent an animal being sold after entry provided it is exhibited in the name of the person who entered it. 9 Membership Advantage (Lincolnshire Agricultural Society) Owners who are not members of the Society will be required to pay entry fees at non-members rates. Non-members wishing to become members of the Society may do so by paying the current year’s subscription and may then submit entries at Member Rates. No member being in arrears with his/her subscription may make entries at the Show or exhibit as a non-subscriber. Any entry inadvertently accepted from a Member who is in arrears with his/her subscription may be cancelled and the fee paid returned. Membership must be held in the Owner’s Name and at the Owners Address (as per the animal’s passport). Membership Advantage cannot be used in the name of a spouse, relative or other related party. Membership is non-refundable. 10 Tickets and Wristbands All those entering the Showground from any carpark (including the Livestock Car Park) must have a valid admission ticket or wristband or pay the relevant admission fee at the entrance gate. Wristbands are non-transferable and should be worn at all times on the Showground. You will not be able to access the Livestock Lines during judging without a Livestock Wristband. 12 Livestock Vehicle Pass Allocation: Exhibitors will be issued with passes to permit their vehicles conveying livestock to enter the Showground, via the GATE 3 (Blue Gate) on Tuesday 18th June. Each Exhibitor should ensure that he/ she receives sufficient vehicle passes to cover his/her requirements. Such vehicles must be parked in the space provided immediately after delivery of the stock and remain there throughout the Show. Please note that space in the Livestock Vehicle Park is limited, Stockmen’s vehicles entering the showground on Show days will only be able to park in the Livestock Vehicle Park with a Livestock Vehicle Pass and only if there is space available before 7am, after this time or if the area is full vehicles will be instructed topark in White Car Park which is adjacent to the Livestock Vehicle Park. Please use Gate 5 to access the Showground during Show days. After 6pm, may have to gain access via Security on Gate 4 13 Cleanliness of Livestock Vehicles Exhibitor’s vehicles must be externally clean. The Society has the right to refuse entry to any vehicle deemed not to be clean. No Livestock Vehicles will be permitted to remain within the Showground area once stock has been off loaded. Once vehicles have been cleansed and disinfected they will be directed to a special parking area and will be required to remain parked there until5pm on Thursday 20th June. This parking area is situated within easy reach of the Cattle Lines and those stock attendants using wagons for accommodation 14 Arrival & Departure (via Gate 3, BLUE GATE) Livestock is to arrive on the Showground by 6pm on Tuesday 18th June, and must remain until5pm on Thursday 20th June. Admittance of livestock on the Wednesday of Show is strictly prohibited. Exceptions: Commercial Beef and Commercial Lambs are to arrive before 4pm on Tuesday 18th June (Cows and Heifers in milk must be stripped dry on the Showground after 6pm on Tuesday, 18th June.) Animal Reporting and Movement Service Forms (ARAMS-1 for movement of sheep/goats) Forms) are to be handed in on arrival at Gate 3 (Blue Gate). Departure ARAMS Forms are to be collected by the LAS Animal Movements Team on Thursday 20th June (or handed in to the Livestock Registration Office at the end of the Main Cattle lines: OPEN 1pm-3pm)). All cattle to be accompanied to and from Show by their Cattle Passport. (Stewards will collect these on Tuesday and return prior to departure on Thursday). The information will be scanned and sent to B.C.M.S. 15 Straw & Fodder The Society will supply a limited quantity of straw. All fodder must be provided by the Exhibitor. 16 Livestock Accommodation Information Covered accommodation will be provided for all Livestock. Exhibitors

85 must keep the livestock lines clean and tidy (free from faeces) at all times. The erection of sheeting in the Cattle buildings, whether round cattle or spare stalls is strictly prohibited. Please do not leave litter in the straw or smoke in the Livestock areas. 17 Biosecurity Cleansing and disinfecting facilities will be available for the interior, the wheels and exteriors of Livestock Vehicles. Exhibitors must follow instructions given to them by the Show Organisers, Stewards and Show Officials. In particular, before leaving any animal area, exhibitors must cleanse and disinfect their footwear if it is contaminated with animal excreta and dispose of disposable clothing or change any contaminated clothing. Exhibitors are also asked to keep the walkway beside their animals(s) as clear as possible from all bedding, used feed or animal excreta. Livestock are to remain in the accommodation areas except for the purpose of going to be judged, to the Grand Parade in the Main Ring or upon leaving the Showground. Before leaving the Showground, exhibitors should clean and disinfect their footwear, clothing and any equipment. Vehicle wheels should be cleansed of any visible contamination at the exit point of the Livestock Lines. Livestock must be unloaded and re- loaded in the designated areas and not walked through the vehicle park. You are advised to wash your hands after handling livestock. 18 Caravans There will be a special area set aside on the Showground for the accommodation of the caravans belonging to Stock Exhibitors, which will be as close as possible to the Livestock Lines. A CARAVAN pitch or TENT pitch is available for £32 (inc. VAT) for the duration of the Show, with provision for ONE CAR ONLY. (In accordance with Safety, Additional cars to be parked in the White Vehicle Car Park) A CARAVAN with a HOOK-UP is available at a cost of £64 (inc. VAT) for the duration of the Show, with provision for ONE CAR ONLY. (In accordance with Safety, Additional cars to be parked in the White Vehicle Car Park) In 2019, these spaces will be allocated sequentially as you arrive on the Showground. Specific Caravan Pitches cannot be reserved in advance of the Show. Only one habitation (ie. 1 caravan or 1 tent) per caravan pitch. Clear roadways must be left in the Caravan Park for emergency vehicles. As only limited space will be available, bookings will be accepted strictly on a first come first served basis and are only available to exhibitors, due to space restrictions exhibitors are asked to only book a maximum of one Caravan Pitch. Failure to apply for the appropriate pass will result in the caravan being admitted only at the discretion of the Stewards (upon payment of £48.00), for the duration of the Show. It is strongly recommended that caravans are fitted with both fire and carbon monoxide alarms in good working order. GENERATORS - The use of generators to provide power to caravans Information is banned between the hours of 11.00pm and 5.00am in the interests of the comfort and convenience of all exhibitors. 19 Stock Attendant’s Clothing Any person tending animals or handling animal products must wear suitable footwear and protective outer clothing which can be cleansed and disinfected. All attendants should be attired smartly and according to accepted standards. White coats or approved Breed Society uniform must be worn during judging and by all those taking part in the Grand Parade.

86 20 Dogs Dogs must be kept on non-retractable leads at all times while on the Showground and are not allowed in the livestock lines. 21 Stockmans Restaurant Open for refreshments from 12 noon, Tuesday 18th June: Meals Tuesday 18th June 17.30 - 20.00 hours Wednesday 19th June 06.00 - 19.30 hours Thursday 20th June 06.00 - 15.00 hours Also bar facilities available, and entertainment on the Wednesday evening. 22 PAT Testing & Electrical Items Any electrical items brought onto the Showground and used by exhibitors must be PAT Tested. 23 Conduct of Exhibitors and their Attendants All Exhibitors and persons in charge of stock at the Show shall be subject to the instructions of the Honorary Director and Stewards. Exhibitors or their Servants who fail to observe these instructions or the Society’s Rules and Conditions of Entry or who may be guilty of any misconduct shall render the exhibitor liable to forfeit any prize money awarded and the disqualification of each and every entry. Any act of discourtesy to any Judge, Steward, Show Official or Show Organiser on the part of any exhibitor or their attendants, will at the discretion of the injured party, disqualify that animal from being judged, in which case entry fees, prizes and charges will be forfeited, and may disqualify the exhibitor from competing at future Lincolnshire Shows at the discretion of the Lincolnshire Show Committee. Competitors are reminded to be courteous to each other and Show Officials. Unsportsmanlike or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated at the Lincolnshire Show and should be reported immediately to a steward or the Show Office. Exhibitors are responsible for the behaviour of their employees and attendants, and for any penalties imposed for misconduct. 24 Veterinary Inspection Animals entered for exhibition may be subjected to Veterinary inspection by the Society’s Veterinary Surgeon. The Veterinary Surgeons shall be empowered to expel from the Showground any animal, which in their opinion is suffering from or affected with any contagious or infectious disease likely to prove harmful to other animals, or, any animal which in their opinion is unfit for exhibition. The Veterinary Surgeons shall issue a certificate recording their findings. The Society reserves the right, of its Stewards and appointed Veterinary Surgeon, to take blood samples at random, for subsequent analysis, from any animal exhibited at the Show. Exhibitors shall be liable to pay the Society a sum not exceeding £50 as and for liquidating damages, in respect of each animal expelled under the above clause. 25 Veterinary Emergency Treatment It is a condition of Entry that the Society’s Veterinary officers may on their own authority give to any animal such emergency treatment as they may consider appropriate in the event that the owner or his/her representative cannot immediately be found. 26 Veterinary Charges Should Veterinary treatment be required at Show, a charge may be made by the Society’s Veterinary Officers attending the animal(s). 27 Parades Information It shall be a condition of entry that all prize winning cattle shall be exhibited or paraded in accordance with the instructions of the

87 Honorary Director and Stewards and at the times stated in the official programme. An Exhibitor or his servants failing to comply with this regulation shall forfeit all prize money. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is very proud of the Grand Parade, with all sections parading their 1st and 2nd exhibits. ALL Exhibitors are requested to parade, if not, prize money may be deducted. All Handlers are required to wear smart dress and white smocks for parades, excepting Dairy Exhibitors who must wear white attire. 28 Awards Prize winners will be given a voucher which can be redeemed on the days of Show at the ICE Bank which is located at the end of the Equine Rings, or by post if received before 31st July 2019. Vouchers will also be issued at Show for: · Each Senior Bull forward in the respective Breed Class · Each Dairy animal at Show The judges may withhold any prize or prizes if in their opinion the exhibits in any Class do not possess sufficient merit. Prize money vouchers are to be redeemed on the day of Show. The LAS accepts no liability for lost prize money vouchers.

29 Challenge Trophies All Challenge Trophies and Cups offered shall be held by the Winner for up to one year or until requested to return the trophy to the Society or the Society’s appointed agents. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society reserves the right not to issue a trophy if it is felt that an exhibitor is unlikely to comply with this. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society does not engrave trophies. It is the winner’s responsibility to engrave a trophy should they wish to. Please use a font and size consistent with any precedent set. 30 Malpractice An Exhibitor who shall attempt to obtain a prize by means of a false declaration or by any unlawful prohibited or unfair means shall have all awards made to him/her cancelled, and shall be disqualified from exhibition at future Shows of the Society. 31 Protests Any protest must be lodged in writing within two hours of the completion of judging of the relevant breed, together with a deposit of £50 and handed in to the Show Secretary’s Office. If on investigation the protest is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Honorary Show Director and Stewards of the Section concerned or if the said protest shall prove to be frivolous the person so protesting shall forfeit his/ her deposit. 32 Disclaimer of Liability a) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society’s premises, or while entering and leaving the same, for any damage or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to any such person. b) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any accident, Information damage or loss however caused that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant or to any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought onto the Showground by him. Each exhibitor shall indemnify the Society from and against all actions, suits expenses or claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury however caused. c) The Society will not under any circumstance accept liability for any loss of damage (whether direct or indirect) arising from or caused by the abandonment or cancellation, whether total or partial, or the postponement of any show, display, event, meeting or other happening on the Showground or elsewhere for whatever reason.

88 d) The Society reserves the right to postpone, cancel, abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise to be held on the Showground or elsewhere if under the auspices of the Society. Where the decision to postpone, cancel abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise arises from directives, happenings outside the control of the Society, the Society will refund entry fees, once any administration fees have been deducted. The Society will not be under any liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect, consequential or otherwise) arising from or caused by a postponement, cancellation, abandonment, curtailment or otherwise. e) The Exhibitor will have in force, maintain and comply with the terms of its own appropriate insurance (with a minimum limit of £5 million per claim for Public, Products and Pollution Liability) to cover all risks and liabilities which the Exhibitor may incur. f) The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s maximum aggregate liability (for breach of contract or arising in tort or on any other basis whatsoever) shall be limited to the entry fee paid by the Exhibitor. 33 Health & Safety a) It is the responsibility of all exhibitors to comply with any Health and Safety requirements placed on them whilst competing at the Show. b) In the case of led cattle/sheep/pigsit is imperative that exhibitors/ stockpersons are aware of their obligation to the safety of the general public at all times whilst on the Showground and observe orders from Officials or Stewards, in respect of crossing points etc.The Cattle lines will be open to the general public at certain times, these times will be stated at the entrance to the Cattle lines, at the Show. c) Nobody under the age of 16 may be in charge of an animal in the Grand Parade. All those taking part in the Grand Parade must do so in a responsible manner, and take due care and consideration to all parties involved in the Parade. d) Any exhibitor who fails to comply with health and safety or fire safety legislation may be liable to enforcement action by the West Lindsey District Council Environmental Health Officer and/or the Eurofire representative. 89 CATTLE 34 Cattle Health All Cattle exhibited must be from herds which are free of Tuberculosis, Brucellosis and EBL and which are not under movement restrictions imposed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for these or any other notifiable diseases. 35 Abortions and Premature Calvings No animal likely to calve during the period of the Show may be exhibited. Animals which calve, or show evidence of calving, whilst at the showground, must be placed in the approved isolation accommodation pending their possible early removal from the showground. Where an animal calves prematurely, or aborts, the DVM, DEFRA must be informed immediately. The animal must be placed in isolation in the approved accommodation, and the full range of samples (including if at all possible a placental smear) should be taken. The animal will not be allowed to take part further in the show and once it is fit to travel, can be returned home to the registered premises or alternatively retained until the end of the show in isolation and returned with the other competing cattle from the same premises. All other bovine animals from the same registered premises will not be allowed to compete further in the Show until negative results from certain tests carried out by a Veterinary Laboratory Centre have been received. They can be returned with the suspect animal at the completion of the Show. 36 Registration All cattle must be entered or registered for entry in the Herd Book, Appendix to the herd Book, or supplementary Register of their respective breed Society or Association, in accordance with the conditions of entry, for each breed shown beneath the respective Breed headings. 37 Definition of a Heifer For the purpose of this Schedule a heifer is a female, which has not calved or aborted more than once, nor calved and aborted. (Except the class for a team of three in the Inter-Breed beef competition - maiden heifer.) 38 Faking Cattle found to be artificially coloured or in any way faked at any time whilst on the Showground shall be disqualified. 39 Nurse Cows No accommodation will be provided for Nurse Cows which will not be permitted to enter the Showground. 40 Milking Out The Judges may at their discretion order that all or any of the cows or heifers be milked-out in the Judging Ring before awarding prizes. 41 Milk Dairy exhibitors are responsible for keeping the milking area clean. Owing to escalating costs with the disposal of raw milk, there is no Milk Payment. 42 Transfer to appropriate Class. Information Cows and heifers entered as in-calf and having calved or entered as in-milk and not having calved before the Show may be transferred to the appropriate class if provided. 43 Calves Calves older than 9 months of age on the day of Show are not eligible to be shown in Cow or Heifer with calf at foot classes.

90 44 Refund of Entries Stalls booked may be cancelled and half the relevant fees refunded, if WRITTEN notification is received before5pm on FRIDAY 10th May 2019. 45 Prizes Championships and Special Prizes given by the Breed Societies may only be awarded to members of those Societies. 46 Inspections All entries and property of participants are subject to inspection by LAS Officials. Participants shall deliver on request, to an LAS Official, any device, material or substance on the possession or control of the Participant, agent, or persons acting on his or her behalf for the purpose of inspection to laboratory analysis. 47 Administration of Substances Permission must be gained from one of the LAS Appointed Veterinary Surgeons before administering any drug to an Animal. In such cases Participants will be required to notify an LAS Official of the animals identification number, the drugs name, the volume of the drug administered, the batch number and expiry date, the person who administered the drug and the date and time of administration. 48 Penalties for Enforcement If the LAS finds a participant to have violated the above rules or been guilty of Malpractice, the LAS has the power to disqualify participants from the Lincolnshire Show and from future Shows. Prize Money from the Show may also be forfeit. Penalties for violation are at the absolute discretion of the LAS, and the decision of the LAS is final. Information

91 SHEEP 49 Accommodation Covered accommodation will be provided for all sheep. All animals in the same Breed belonging to one Exhibitor will stand together. Exhibitors or Maedi-Visna Accredited Sheep must indicate their status on the Booking Form, a copy of the appropriate certificate should be sent with entries and an original Green Certificate to be presented upon arrival at the Show. Signs will be erected indicating the unloading points for both Maedi-Visna and Non-scheme sheep. Exhibitors of Maedi-Visna sheep must ensure that their animals are accompanied by the Green S.A.C. Certificate of Status (with valid expiry date). Unloading of Maedi-Visna sheep must not take place until the appropriate certificate is produced for inspection by the responsible Society official. At all times during the Show it is essential that there should be no contact between any sheep in the two categories. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society reserves the right to reduce the number of pens requested by an exhibitor. 50 Transportation of Non-MV and MV Accredited Sheep MV and Non-MV Sheep must not travel to and from the Show in the same trailer or stock vehicle, unless stock vehicles have solid partitions and separate loading/unloading ramps. Trailers and stock vehicles should be used to carry only MV Accredited sheep or only Non-MV Accredited sheep at one time and the trailer must be washed out before any other sheep are loaded. Any breach of this will be reported to SAC and the sheep will not be allowed onto the Showground. 51 Scrapie The Lincolnshire Show is a DEFRA approved Scrapie monitored event. Scrapie monitored stock may be exhibited without loss of Scrapie monitored status. Exhibitors are required to sign a Declaration that female sheep entered and exhibited are non-pregnant and have not lambed or aborted within 30 days of their arrival at the Show and are not subject to procedures which change the seasonal breeding pattern. 52 Flock Book Entry All sheep entered in the Breed classes must be from flocks registered in the Flock Book of their Breed and shall be marked and/or shorn in accordance with the rules of their respective Breed Societies. 53 Faking Any sheep found to have been artificially coloured or faked with a view to deceiving the judges will be disqualified. 54 Ewes Nursing ewes are not eligible for entry. 55 External Parasites The prevention/control of external parasites on sheep being brought to the Showground must be undertaken in accordance with any DEFRA regulations at the time of Show. 56 Short-Tail Docking of Lambs The attention of exhibitors is drawn to the Welfare of livestock (prohibited operations) Regulations 1982 and the requirement that Information tail docked sheep should retain sufficient tail to cover the anus in the case of males and the vulva in the case of females.

92 PIGS 57 Entries Exhibitors’ entries will be accepted on the following basis. Payment will be per pig and per pen (approx. 8’ x 6’ space). A maximum of 2 pigs are allowed per pen. 58 Registration All pigs entered in the Breed classes must be entered or accepted for entry in the herd book (as distinct from grading register) of their respective Breeds, and shall be ear-marked in accordance with the rules of the Breed. 59 Accommodation Covered accommodation will be provided for all pigs. Each pig must be placed in the pen provided and may not be moved without the Steward’s permission. All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand in adjacent pens in their respective Breed Sections. 60 Dentition All Pigs exhibited may be subjected to an examination of their mouths by the Veterinary Inspector of the Society and should the state of dentition upon such examination indicate that the age of any Animal as stated on the Entry Form, does not agree with the accepted rules of Dentition, the Stewards shall have power to disqualify such pigs, and shall report the circumstances to the Council. The following is the state of Dentition of pigs which will be considered as indicating that they exceed the ages specified:- 6 MONTHS - Pigs having their corner permanent incisors cut, will be considered as exceeding this age. 9 MONTHS - Pigs having their permanent tusks more than half up will be considered as exceeding this age. 12 MONTHS - Pigs having their central permanent incisors up and any of the three first permanent molars cut will be considered as exceeding this age. 15 MONTHS - Pigs having their lateral temporary incisors shed and the permanents appearing will be considered as exceeding this age. 18 MONTHS - Pigs having their lateral permanent incisors fully up will be considered as exceeding the age. 61 Faking The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder, the removal of hair, surplus teats or the removal or addition of spots by artificial means, or any other abnormal practice on pigs is prohibited. 62 Boars a) Boars of two years of age and over to be certified to have sired at least three live litters within the twelve months preceding the date on which entries for the Show close, the pigs comprising such litters to have been notified for registration in the Herd Book or proof of their birth to have been given to the B.P.A. b) Boars will not be allowed in the Judging Rings unless the accompanying stockperson carries a protective shield supplied by the exhibitor. c) Boars exceeding 15 months of age must have had their tusks cut in the year of and prior to exhibition at the Show; they must also be accompanied in the Show Ring by TWO competent handlers, each carrying a protective board. Exhibitors failing to comply with these handling requirements may be disqualified by the Chief Steward. 63 Prizes Special and Championship prizes given by the B.P.A. will only be awarded to members of that Association or to Members of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust who record the relevant breeds with the B.P.A.
