The 2011 Egyptian revolution is a set of events (demonstrations, strikes, destruction of buildings and symbols of power and clashes with security forces) ending on resignation of President Hosni Mubarak. They took place in Egypt, mostly in Cairo and in the big cities of the country from 25 January 2011 to February 11; 2011. Like the Tunisian Revolution, the Egyptian Revolution erupted to react to the Egyptian police forces abuses. Unemployment, lack of housing and lack of freedom expression are also important causes of demonstrations. The main objective of demonstrators is to achieve a regime change, which would end with the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak in power since October 14, 1981 and a fairer distribution of wealth. The end of the movement is February 11, 2011 when there was a transfer of power to the military while President Mubarak stayed away in his residence. Tunisia REVOLUTION FOR FREEDOM The Tunisian revolution burst further to the immolation of a young itinerant salesman of fruits and vegetables, Mohamed Bouazizi, on December 17th, 2010 in the region of Sidi Bouzid; this place became the theater of murderous riots between inhabitants and police. These events, which extended then in the other regions of the country, joined a context where the unemployment rate of the young graduates is particularly high. The causes are also political: president Ben Ali and his family, in particular his second wife Leïla, Trabelsi, qualified according to the observers as " quasi-maffioso clan ", are directly questioned in businesses of corruption, diversion or flight, plagues which were particularly growing under his presidency. On January 13th, 2011, Ben Ali announced extraordinary measures during a broadcast intervention: The promise of a full freedom of the media and political expression as well as its refusal to represent itself in the elections planned in 2014. However, this short speech did not contribute to calm the anger of the population, forcing the president to give up finally the power to his Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi the next day and to leave the country in the evening. According to the constitution, the president of Chambers of representatives, Fouad Mebazaa, was finally proclaimed acting president by the Constitutional Council on January 15. This one is in charge of organizing presidential elections in sixty days. January 17th, a “government of national union” of 24 members including opponents of the regime declined is constituted. That very day, the liberation of all the prisoners of conscience, the levying of the ban on activity of the Tunisian League of human rights, " the total freedom of the information " as well as the legalization of all the political parties and the associations which would ask for it, was announced. However, the presence of members of the RCD in key posts provoked again, within 24 hours, the anger of the population and the resignation of several Ministers of opposition, weakening again the government. The departure from the RCD of several eminent personalities had no effect on the suspicion which the public opinion maintained towards the former presidential party and several demonstrators protested for dissolution. However, on January 20th, the Ministers still affiliated to this training announced to have left him too. In front of the pressure of the street requiring their departure, a ministerial reshuffle took place on January 27th, spreading definitively to (except Mohamed Ghannouchi) the former members of the RCD of any governmental responsibilities. On February 6th, home secretary Farhat Rajhi froze the activities of the RCD while waiting for its legal dissolution, whereas the parliament confered on the acting president of the additional powers, as that to dissolve the parliament. Ghannouchi was however forced to resign in his turn February 27th following several days of demonstrations marked by violence; he was replaced that very day in his post by the lawyer Béji Caïd Essebsi. Capital: Cairo Official language : Arabic Population: 84 474 000 Area: 1002450 km² Currency: Egyptian pound (EGP) Egypt is a magnificent country in the North of Africa, there are numerous things to discover, in particular the museum of Cairo, the temple of Luxor, the temple of Abu Simbel, the Valley of the Kings, the sphinx and the pyramids, which are a part of the 7 wonders of the world. There are many other monuments to be seen that we did not talk about here. You also can, if you wish it, make a cruise on the Nile, that is often accompanied with visits. For more adventure, you can leave for a treck in the desert. So do not wait any more and leave for Egypt! •Lang Charlène, Taouli Sarah Let us go to Egypt to discover their culinary specialties. Egyptian meals are composed of a main course and a dessert. There are different dishes very well-known in Egypt, often prepared with a base of meat, seeds of sesame or spices. The national dish is the mouloukheva. It is a soup of herbs accompanied with meat. Here there are some examples of typically Egyptian dishes TAHINA It is a cream with sesame seed. HOMMOS It is a purée of chickpea with sesame seed. BABAGHANOUJ It is a purée of eggplants with sesame seed. Several meats are used in the Egyptian cooking. Mutton and lamb are cooked the most: Chich Kebab, Kofta (minced meat) and Shaw Erma (slice of meat piled in round bread). Then, there are numerous desserts MEHALLABEYYA A cream made of wheat flour, and served with pistachio nuts and rice pudding OUM ALI An oriental pudding dessert composed of sheets of dough tempered with milk and mixed in the coconut and the pistachio nuts. Its warm and dry climate gives Egypt numerous delicious fruits with savor at all times of the year: dates, guava and mango mix on the Egyptian tables. The use of spice in very sweet food is in fact a typical cooking. The young man has enjoyed success after his first album « Mes repères ».Proud of his success he's decided to return with his double album « La Fouine Vs Laouni » in which he does not hesitate to take a turn to pop and reveal another face of his personality. With « La Fouine Vs Laouni », the rapper tried to satisfy every audience by dividing his work in the two facets of his personality: the text is hardcore and vulgar (which represents “La Fouine”, but the softer music is more personal for « Laouni » which is his real name. Half angel half demon, he proves that French rap can escape the pictures of the street and violence without losing is credibility. THE STRONGHOLD Directed by Cédric Jimenez INTERNATIONAL MARKETING INTERNATIONAL PUBLICITY Alba OHRESSER Margaux AUDOUIN [email protected] [email protected] 1 SYNOPSIS Marseille’s north suburbs hold the record of France’s highest crime rate. Greg, Yass and Antoine’s police brigade faces strong pressure from their bosses to improve their arrest and drug seizure stats. In this high-risk environment, where the law of the jungle reigns, it can often be hard to say who’s the hunter and who’s the prey. When assigned a high-profile operation, the team engages in a mission where moral and professional boundaries are pushed to their breaking point. 2 INTERVIEW WITH CEDRIC JIMENEZ What inspired you to make this film? In 2012, the scandal of the BAC [Anti-Crime Brigade] Nord affair broke out all over the press. It was difficult to escape it, especially for me being from Marseille. I Quickly became interested in it, especially since I know the northern neighbourhoods well having grown up there. There was such a media show that I felt the need to know what had happened. How far had these cops taken the law into their own hands? But for that, it was necessary to have access to the police and to the files. That was obviously impossible. When we decided to work together, me and Hugo [Sélignac], my producer, I always had this affair in mind. It was then that he said to me, “Wait, I know someone in Marseille who could introduce us to the real cops involved.” And that’s what happened.
