Harry Christian was born in Pennington on 17 January 1892, the second son of William and Mary Christian. He was baptised at Pennington Church on 28 February 1892. His father’s occupation was shown as miner and they lived at Carkettle. According to the admission register for Church of School, Harry started on 8 Jan 1900 moving there from St Mary’s Infant School. James and Walter were born in the next five years, showing up on the 1911 census when the family was living at Low Mill in Egremont.

Harry was baptised at St Michael’s and All Angels, Pennington when he was about 6 weeks old (BPR 24 Archive Service)

1911 Census National Archives shows the Christian family living at Low Mill, Egremont. Harry has left the Entry in Ulverston Church of England School family home and is in the Army admission register for Harry Christian.
