2020 Motorcycle Tour Brochure | Beach's Motorrcycle Adventures, Ltd The Classic Alpine Adventure Refined over 47 years, this is the trip that coined the phrase “Classic Tour” he European Alps are, very simply, the most magical place in the world to ride Tmotorcycles. Within their ramparts huddle villages and farms from the middle ages and winter resorts as new as tomorrow. The contrast of old and new is fascinating and amazingly comfortable. This tour focuses on that magic. Motorcycles & Riders Are Warmly Welcomed As the mountains in each of the Alpine countries differ, so do the people. For hundreds of years the inhabitants battled the elements and the land to wrest a living from these mountains. Today, for many of these hardy mountain folk, tourists are their lifeblood and are accommodated with pleasure and perfection! There are mountains, glaciers, gorges, vineyards, waterfalls, hiking trails, picnic spots, gentle curves, switchbacks, tunnels and bridges, fortresses, castles, palaces, lakes, mountain streams, and both breathtaking and restful vistas. Enjoy scenes that could be straight out of Heidi or The Sound of Music. Dream of listening to the sounds of cowbells in mountain pastures; drinking in the landscape of wild flowers and the snow capped mountains; smelling fresh mown hay; tasting mountain grown vegetables and, from the top of a pass, almost touching heaven. So, dream about magnificent mountain riding on the finest roads in the world, awesome scenery, diet-shattering food, unique shopping opportunities and enough cultural overload to last a lifetime. It’s all there, providing a motorcyclist’s paradise. Welcome To Bavaria The excitement of the Alpine Adventure begins on your arrival in Munich as you are whisked down the autobahn to your accommodation. Your first day after arrival is a free day, allowing time to visit Munich city, the Olympic Park, the BMW Museum, lounge in the Englischer Garten or see the Glockenspiel. Or enjoy the free day on the bike. Riders will find pleasant, relaxing rides through the Bavarian countryside. The scenery takes an exciting turn as the Alps come into view, dominating the horizon. The twisty roads in the foothills of the Alps only hint at the adventure to come. The real introduction to mountain riding comes on the ride to Imst, Austria. Choose from the relatively wide, easy Fernpass or the narrow, wild Hahntenjoch. These 2763 West River Road high mountain roads that climb up and over the peaks offer unparalleled views and Grand Island, NY 14072 USA challenges to the rider. Indeed, it is only the second day of the tour and in every direction there are—mountains! These roads pass scenery that is—with no www.bmca.com ©2020 BMCA, LTD The Classic Alpine exaggeration—breathtaking. The Island Interlude Explore Sardinia and Corsica on a grand tour! rench and Italian cultures and Mediterranean sunshine packaged into two glorious Fweeks of riding pleasure! Beginning and ending in the Tuscan hills, the Island Interlude is a unique adventure spanning a variety of cultures, terrain, and history. Following a walking tour of Florence on the arrival day, the tour gets down to the business of riding on Monday. With the destination of the seaside town of Livorno in mind, your routing choices may include a visit to the city of towers, San Gimignano, and a ride through the impressive walls of Monteriggioni Castle. Then it is a simple task to follow the curves (and there are plenty!) to the seaside. Or visit and explore Pisa, with its famous leaning tower before our rendezvous at the dock. Cross The Tyrrhenian Sea Enjoy the comfort of a top-class cabin as the overnight ferry makes its way to Italy’s emerald in the Mediterranean, Sardinia. This beautiful, wild island has been inhabited for 8000 years, and is now criss-crossed with perfect motorcycle roads. After disembarking from the ferry we waste no time getting into the mountains. A perfectly set double-overnight in Oliena means twisty roads in every direction. Corners here aren’t counted by hundreds, but rather thousands! Tight, twisty roads relax and open up approaching Cagliari, the Island’s largest city, and home to almost one-third of the Sardinians. The old section, Castello, is still guarded by 13th century towers overlooking medieval city walls. From the ramparts of the castle enjoy a sweeping view of the city. Or head to the seashore and spend a relaxing afternoon with your toes in the water. Cagliari’s market, one of the largest fish markets in all of Italy, will delight gourmets among us with fresh-off-the-boat fish and other Island specialties. A wonderfully sweeping road with endless views of the sea is our magic carpet for the ride around the southwest coast. Bosa, the day’s destination, is a tiny urban area built in a riot of color. Spectacular sunsets are the norm here and, should we have the luck to enjoy one, the pastels of nature to the west will compliment the pastels of man to the east! Majestic Beaches The pavement tightens up again departing Bosa—this is another of those days that make 2763 West River Road motorcycling such a special activity. Our last stop on Sardinia, on the northern end of Grand Island, NY 14072 USA the island, is framed by mountains and brightened by flowering trees. Minutes from many of the Island’s best beaches, this popular spot offers something for everyone. We utilise the figure of the motorcycle to raise the importance of analyzing alternative mobilities: to consider how they appeal to different travelling dispositions and emotions; how they have been represented; and how they have been produced, marketed and consumed. The paper first reflects upon the experiences and embodiment of the motorcycle- rider; second, evaluates representations of moto-mobility; and finally attends to the materiality of mobility via an examination of the economy of motorcycle qualities. Introduction In recent years social scientists have become increasingly interested in concepts of ‘automobility’ and in so doing have provided new ways of invigorating studies of transport and movement (Thrift 1996; Urry 2000; Sheller and Urry 2000; Beckmann 2001; Theory, Culture and Society Special Issue 2004).

To those of you who came to the rally, it was wonderful seeing you! Each year I look forward to visiting and catching up with everyone. The campfire stories are the best! I heard stories I hadn’t heard before, Hank told one on me, and I think a few might have been made up. Peanuts were passed around, people shared from their coolers, and everyone went to their tents smelling of smoke. The rains earlier in the week had soaked the wood making it hard to start the first fire. Someone creative stacked wood all around the campfire ring so it would dry out before we needed it. The weather was perfect for riding, and a few miles were put on by everyone. I must say the campground continues to improve yearly. New private showers were my favorite upgrade this year. To those of you who could not make the rally we missed you and hope to see you next year. Here are some photos of the camp grounds... Verla’s award for Taj Mahal goes to....
