The enclosed resources provide developmentally appropriate, standards-based activities for students to work on at home. Your student is not required to complete every activity in the packet. However, these resources do support a learning experience that is tied to the academic standards of your child’s grade level. Additionally, there are informational resources that will provide opportunities and support for you, as you continue to support your child in the learning process. Thank you for your continued partnership. We are eager to welcome our students back to school soon. Regards, The Cobb County School District BOARD OF EDUCATION Brad Wheeler, Chair • David Banks, Vice Chair David Chastain • Charisse Davis • Jaha Howard • David Morgan • Randy Scamihorn SUPERINTENDENT Chris Ragsdale Learning at Home Activities for Grades K-2 Reading/Writing Read Outside Grab a few books and head outside. Read independently or read with a parent, friend, or family member for 20 minutes. ABC Nature Walk Go on a walk around your neighborhood or backyard with a parent, friend, or family member. Look for something to represent each letter of the alphabet. Writing with your Senses Go outside and write what you see, hear, feel, and smell. Then, write a narrative that takes place in the same area you just explored. Incorporate sensory details into your writing. Action Verb Charades All players write down five action verbs (i.e. run, walk, sing, dance) on separate pieces of paper and place them in a bowl. Each player pulls a verb and acts it out. The player that correctly identifies the verb goes next! After the game create a silly story using as many of the verbs as possible. Use Nature to Create Letters or Words Use items found in nature such as rocks, sticks, or flower petals to create letters or words. Math Scavenger Hunt Go for a walk and identify 2 of each of the following shapes: circle, square, rectangle, and triangle. Can you find any three-dimensional shapes (cube, cone, cylinder, etc.)? Math Snacks As you have a snack, think of 3 addition and subtraction problems you can make by grouping some of the snack items together or taking some away. Write down the number sentences (5+3=8) as you munch away. Create a Game Use dice or playing cards to create a math game using addition and/or subtraction. Draw a Robot Draw a robot using shapes. GOBELINS and Netflix strengthen their partnership in favour of the emergence of new talents in animation Paris, November 3rd, 2020 - One year after the establishment of a partnership aimed at identifying and developing new talent in animation, Netflix and GOBELINS announce a new chapter in their collaboration with the creation of scholarships for three Bachelor's students, a new post-baccalaureate course. This new chapter of action complements the initiatives already in place with, in particular, the financing of scholarships for Master students from the African continent and the integration each year of a young graduate from GOBELINS into the Netflix Animation Fellowship programme. A broadening of the partnership set up in 2019 On the occasion of the start of the 2020 academic year, Netflix and GOBELINS are strengthening the partnership set up in 2019 with the creation of scholarships that will give three students each year access to GOBELINS' education as part of the introduction of a Bachelor's degree. This new course aims to master all animation techniques, both traditional and digital (2D and 3D), from pre-production to post-production, using professional methods practised in animation film studios in France and abroad. The first beneficiaries of this character animation apprenticeship scholarship programme will be appointed in June 2021. "We are proud to help foster the emergence of new talent from diverse backgrounds alongside GOBELINS. With this new chapter of our collaboration, we will also be able to support younger profiles with just raw talent and their highschool diploma in their pockets", said Dominique Bazay, Kids & Family Director at Netflix.

  • Report Creative Lab Hawaii Program Fy 2016-2017
REPORT CREATIVE LAB HAWAII PROGRAM FY 2016-2017 In Response to Act 124, SLH2016, Sect.4.1. February 1, 2018 FOREWORD Act 124, SLH 2016, Sect.4.1.directed the Creative Industries Division (CID), Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) to expand the Creative Lab Hawaii Program (CLH) to the neighbor islands and to implement an animation lab program. This report summarizes the activities that were implemented during FY 2016-2017. INTRODUCTION With the democratization of media and distribution channels disrupting traditional platforms of content delivery, there has never been a better time to provide the tools, mentoring, and investment opportunities to arm our creatives with business savvy to navigate this lucrative avenue of global export of intellectual property developed here in the islands. To position Hawaii as a hub of creative development in the Pacific, Creative Lab Hawaii was launched to accelerate professional development and export media, music, and design entrepreneurs. While students in our public schools as well as colleges have proven that media is a skill set they excel in, in order to continue the arc of accomplishment in the business of entertainment, an economic development program which compliments education efforts was necessary to build those skill sets necessary to be a 360-degree entrepreneur in the market today. BACKGROUND The CLH is a State of Hawaii program intended to accelerate global export of Hawaii’s creative content and/or products to strengthen our creative entrepreneurs’ capacity of success and establish Hawaii as a creative hub in the Pacific. The CLH is composed of three separate components: Immersive Programs, Ideation Workshops, and Public Programs.
