The Scheme is designed to ensure that concerns of those living and working in an area relating to Crime and Disorder issues are recognised and acted upon by providing dedicated and accountable resources to specific geographical areas. A multi-agency approach is taken to tackle problems and quarterly meetings are held in each of the six Safer Neighbourhoods Areas to which representatives of the statutory agencies and members of the public are invited.     SOUTH DERBYSHIRE OPEN SPACE, SPORT AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES STRATEGY Adopted: April 2016 Enquiries: 07989 351047 www.vagaassociates.com FOREWORD On behalf of South Derbyshire Sport and the District Council, we are delighted to introduce the Open Space, Sport and Community Facilities Strategy for South Derbyshire. This work focusses on three different types of provision that will help to make our District an attractive environment for local residents to be active, healthy and well connected with their local communities. It sets out a long term vision for open space networks; playing pitches; local community halls and sports facilities for our District. It is part of our response to the Government’s ‘Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation’, published in December 2015. The implementation of the Strategy will enable better access to, and improve the quality and quantity of, the different types of sport and physical activity facilities. It also helps us prepare for the future, ensuring we have enough provision for current need, and a plan for future population growth. The Strategy also provides a robust evidence base to help plan for future provision. The document will provide supplementary research to inform the Local Plan, and as a basis for discussions with developers when new residential areas are being planned, to ensure that sports and physical activity facilities are adequately provided for. We are in challenging economic times and now, more than ever, we need a creative and strategic approach to getting the right resources to improve our facilities. Effective partnership working with Parish Councils; Sports Clubs; National Governing Bodies; Schools and community organisations, as well as adjacent authorities, is crucial to successful delivery of this Strategy.

After several years of planning and discussion, our new surgery building was completed in April 2009 in Glamorgan Way, Church Gresley, on the new housing estate which now links Castle Road and Swadlincote Road. The surgery provides much larger premises with more consulting rooms, 2 treatment rooms, a multiple use Health Promotion room and more space for administration staff. 1 We currently have 7 doctors, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Health Care Assistants and a General Practitioner Assistant. We also have 3 District Nurses and 2 Midwives, who work closely with the community team of Health Visitors plus access to Counselling and Smoking Cessation Services. The day to day running of the surgery is co-ordinated and managed by the Practice Manager/ Assistant Practice Managers who are supported by an Administration team and the Receptionists.
