This switching is normally just used to cut the music and/or transmit bike-to-bike. But that’s about where any similarity to Autocom’s AF-VOX ends. Autocom’s automatic full VOX system uniquely uses a miniature independent noise sensor built into the rider headset to detect ambient noise levels and automatically adjust the VOX threshold point. This means it always remains just above the noise level and so reliably stays switched off when not speaking, but also instantly and effortlessly turns on easily whenever you speak. But how can a noise switch tell the difference between you speaking and helmet noise when you consider that helmet noise is as loud as speech at above 70mph? Simple if you have the incredible signal to noise ratio of an Autocom because Autocom strips away nearly all the undesirable noise and boost the desirable speech from what was about equal levels to an incredible 28dB difference and in reality that’s about 600 times more speech than noise at 100mph (70mph into a strong wind) and that’s more that enough to provide you with a totally reliable ultra high quality and performance VOX switching. The results are truly amazing as you discover that no matter what speed you go the VOX remains flawlessly switched off until you speak. Note; option to switch to manual VOX. Autocoms AF-VOX system reliably 100% cut the microphones off fully when not speaking and this ensures that absolutely no helmet noise whatsoever can be picked up and amplified through the system to your ears. This ensures far less riding fatigue and is also beneficial when listening other audio devises such as phone/music/GPS/bike-to- bike etc. which are much clearer for not having to compete with excessive amplified background noise through the speakers directly over the users ears - a major benefit for users of in-ear speaker plugs (often referred to as monitor type) which are brutishly honest at highlighting anything that is amplified through the system, hence the term monitor. Autocom’s advanced automatic volume control system automatically adjust the stereo input levels to both Aux 2 and 3 (normally used for MP3 phone 2 and music 1 respectively) This fully automatic self-sensing and adjusting stereo volume control works extremely well by sensing the actual noise in the rider’s helmet and uses this information to adjust the volume level to suit the ever changing helmet noise levels for clarity at high speeds yet not to loud at low speeds. To transmit and receive bike-to-bike you must have a radio transceiver. Autocom recommend the transceivers below. Simply choose the one which best suits your needs then identify the lead(s) required to connect to your Autocom.

Some transceivers are much better than others and as a rule you get what you pay for. The Kenwood FreeTalk TK3101 is in our view the best quality and value for money, which is why we highly recommend it. However, we make various interface leads so that you can plug-in a choice of transceivers, including the cheaper Motorola Series. These work reasonably well, although they do not have the same quality, performance and range of the Kenwood transceivers.

When not using your Autocom as a portable we offer you a wide choice of well thought out and convenient bike powering options. You can remote mount and power systems using our unique split power lead enabling you to use the system in a tank bag or with more than one bike.
