Diversity of Fish (Class Pisces) Dialogue of Air Hitam River in Sarolangun Regency This thesis discusses the diversity of species of Pisces in the Air Hitam river area Sarolangun Regency. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection is done through observation, specimen collection, and documentation. And diversity index, type and dominant index. The observation found 130 species with 18 species of Pisces species namely Cryptoterus Apogon, Cryptopterus Cryptopterus, Hypophthalmus Ompok, Mystus Singiringan, Cyclocheilichthys Apogon etc. The Pisces diversity index value is fairly low by 2.83. While what dominates somewhat is the lais fish and even then different species but one family. Each observation station is dominated by one species so that the index of species dominance at each observation station is relatively low. At each station the dominance of each species is also relatively low. • Updated Molecular Phylogenetic Data for Opisthorchis Spp
Dao et al. Parasites & Vectors (2017) 10:575 DOI 10.1186/s13071-017-2514-9 RESEARCH Open Access Updated molecular phylogenetic data for Opisthorchis spp. (Trematoda: Opisthorchioidea) from ducks in Vietnam Thanh Thi Ha Dao1,2,3, Thanh Thi Giang Nguyen1,2, Sarah Gabriël4, Khanh Linh Bui5, Pierre Dorny2,3* and Thanh Hoa Le6 Abstract Background: An opisthorchiid liver fluke was recently reported from ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) in Binh Dinh Province of Central Vietnam, and referred to as “Opisthorchis viverrini-like”. This species uses common cyprinoid fishes as second intermediate hosts as does Opisthorchis viverrini, with which it is sympatric in this province. In this study, we refer to the liver fluke from ducks as “Opisthorchis sp. BD2013”, and provide new sequence data from the mitochondrial (mt) genome and the nuclear ribosomal transcription unit. A phylogenetic analysis was conducted to clarify the basal taxonomic position of this species from ducks within the genus Opisthorchis (Digenea: Opisthorchiidae). Methods: Adults and eggs of liver flukes were collected from ducks, metacercariae from fishes (Puntius brevis, Rasbora aurotaenia, Esomus metallicus) and cercariae from snails (Bithynia funiculata) in different localities in Binh Dinh Province. From four developmental life stage samples (adults, eggs, metacercariae and cercariae), the complete cytochrome b (cob), nicotinamide dehydrogenase subunit 1 (nad1) and cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) genes, and near-complete 18S and partial 28S ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences were obtained by PCR-coupled sequencing. The alignments of nucleotide sequences of concatenated cob + nad1+cox1, and of concatenated 18S + 28S were separately subjected to phylogenetic analyses. Homologous sequences from other trematode species were included in each alignment.

Fish were collected with 3 randomized samplings per season at 6 stations using 6 sets of gillnets. A total of 45 fish species were found and most were in the Cyprinidae family. The catch by gillnets was dominated by Parambassis siamensis with an average CPUE for gillnets set at night of 807.77 g/100 m2/night. No differences were detected on CPUE between the seasonal surveys. However, the CPUEs were significantly different (P<0.05) between the stations. The Pak Narmkam station had a higher CPUE compared to the Pak Narmpung station (1,609.25±1,461.26 g/100 m2/night vs. 297.38±343.21 g/100 m2/night). The results of the study showed that the Nong Han Wetlands is a lentic lake and the fish abundance was found to be medium. There were a few small fish species that could adapt to living in the ecosystem. Keywords: fish species, fish composition, abundance, CPUE, Nong Han wetland 1.

Abstract Background: Paedocypris, a highly developmentally truncated fish from peat swamp forests in Southeast Asia, comprises the world's smallest vertebrate. Although clearly a cyprinid fish, a hypothesis about its phylogenetic position among the subfamilies of this largest teleost family, with over 2400 species, does not exist.

First genetic record and the phylogenetic relationship of Osteochilus spilurus (Cyprinidae: Labeoninae) originating from Bangka and Belitung Islands, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 794-802. Osteochilus spilurus is a freshwater fish from Southeast Asia. Species identification for this fish in Indonesia is still solely limited to morphological characteristics. Therefore it is highly important to validate using short DNA sequences that have been proven to be fast, effective, and accurate. Fish specimens were collected from Lenggang river in Belitung island, and Lebak river in Bangka island, Indonesia. Mitochondrial cytochrome b gene (cyt b, 408 bp) was amplified and sequenced. We collected fish specimens from Lenggang River in Belitung Island and Lebak River in Bangka Island, Indonesia.

Metacercariae of H. taichui were collected in 58 (42.3%) out of 137 fish (5 species), and their average density was 42.9 per fish infected. Metacercari- ae of H. pumilio were detected in 96 (49.0%) out of 196 fish (9 species), and their average density was 23.6 per fish in- fected.

The Diversity and Conservation Status of Fishes in the Nature Reserves of Singapore PETER K.L. NG AND KELVIN K.P. LIM Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research Department of Biological Sciences National University of Singapore Kent Ridge, Singapore 119260 Abstract An update on the taxonomy and conservation status of the 61 indigenous species of freshwater fis hes now known from Singapore is provided. Of these, 26 species (43%) are extinct. Of the 35 extant species, 33 are known in the Nature Reserves and 21 appear to be restricted there. Of the 52 introduced species of fish in Singapore, 17 are present in the Nature Reserves. The conservation status of native fishes in the Nature Reserves is assessed and the survival of hi ghly threatened species discussed. The significance of the Nature Reserves for freshwater fi sh conservation is highlighted. Introduction : be ascertained. The freshwater fish fauna of Singapore is among the best studied in the region and has been the subject of many publications (Alfred, 1961, 1966; Johnson, 1973; Munro, 1990; Lim & P.K.L. Ng, 1990; P.K.L. Ng & Lim, 1996). In the first major synopsis of the Singapore ichthyofauna, Alfred (1966) listed a total of 73 native and introduced species from Singapore of which 42 were still extant. Alfred (1968) subsequently listed 35 native species as extant and believed 19 were extinct. It was 22 years before the next appraisal was made by Lim & P.K.L. Ng (1990) in their guide to the freshwater fishes of Singapore.
