TAIL TRUNK SHOW As we welcome more folks back for season, it is probably a good time to re-visit our golf cart usage policies. Yes, I just heard a few of you groan out loud. As we enter Fall, we begin to experience a decline in plant growth due to cooler temperatures and shorter daylight hours. Add increased cart traffic to 50’S & 60’S NIGHT less rigorous grass growth and you begin to see an impact to course conditions and playability. The rules are fairly simple and when everyone cooperates, everyone wins! First and foremost, keep carts on the path around all tees and greens and the entire length of all 3's. Mondays - check calendar Many people ask MGA members about the “Shootout." It is a good question, and while we assume everyone knows about it, we forget about the basic idea of how this format got started. The “shootout” is a competitive form of play that includes the top ten scoring league members who have accrued the most points from weekly games. Each week during a period of the golf season our MGA members play in HELP US a different game. Points are awarded to the golfers based on the leaderboard of winners for that round. For instance, the first-place winner for the week earns 10 points for the Shootout Leaderboard. FROM THE WGA SUZETTE SWEENY

Welcome to the 2019-2020 season. Whoever was in charge of weather for our opening day (September 17) deserves a raise. We are off to a wonderful start and have an exciting year ahead. And it’s because of you, our hardworking, dedicated members and the Grand Haven team.

We started the season playing a scramble with 48 ladies participating. At the opening lunch we dined on an excellent buffet. The general meeting was held and the board/committee members provided information about Seagals, WPC, our Charity tournament and member/ guest. Stableford team colors were announced and team assignments distributed. We also modified our By-laws to allow higher handicapped individuals to play, but will limit their handicap for the game to a maximum of 36 strokes. Sandy Pearson distributed the membership booklets. If you did not receive your membership booklet, please see Sandy. Our first official day for ringers was September 24.

Be sure and mark your calendars and sign up for upcoming events, Seagals – October 7, Stableford – October 8 and Navy League – October 28.

So, how will you find time to play in the Four Ball tournament? The answer is by scheduling the match on a Tuesday that isn’t dedicated to a Stableford or similar event. And keep checking the website (GHWGA.org) for pictures like the ones included in this newsletter, thanks to Ann Ducasse our Historian.

The WGA this year consists of 87 members, of which 21 are playing the Red tees. For those of you who haven’t yet returned to Grand Haven, safe travels and we’ll see you soon!

The P.G.A. of America partners with various companies that sponsor all kinds of events that the P.G.A. runs. These range from small events to the biggest, the P.G.A. Championship. We as members get benefits from the companies. Last month I got a package from the P.G.A. that had a sample of a CBD “roll on” product for pain. Having dealt with Poly Myalgia since May I am sore in all my joints. I am taking .15 mg of Prednisone each morning but that GREAT takes a couple of hours to “kick in”. The Poly Myalgia started in my shoulders and knees and has GOLF moved into my hips and hands. Every morning my left wrist (I broke it when I was 22) and fingers hurt period. I put the product all over my left wrist and fingers. In 15 minutes the pain was cut by 75 SHOTS percent. I was stunned and it made a believer out of me. I put it on my hands every morning riding to work. I have ordered a small starter package from a company called Boomer Golf that should be in the shop by the second week of October. If you have mild to moderate Arthritic pain try some. Larry Geiser Eagled the 18th For me the roll on worked great and I will be buying more when the sample runs out. hole on September 16th by
