Palmos and Jacob Adrian Lorella I have always wanted to know more about Miag-ao Church beyond the often rehashed trivia written in travel blogs and the bland descriptions of the church in Wikipedia and similar type of information sources. I always considered any house of worship like a living being. It has a colorful, complicated past and uncertain future. It has mysteries and legends. Its daily life has a rhythm of its own, a dynamic personality being shaped slowly by the changing times and the people. Miag-ao Church is very much alive. Only if its sandstone walls could talk. What stories we would hear from the many centuries that have passed and the tens thousands who whispered stories within its wall. Of stories and gossips, of intrigues and of pure religious expressions of the faithfuls. The Facebook post by ‘Bobot’ Montealto (Miagao Hits) in December 22, 2014 on the subject of the 55th Sacerdotal Anniversary of Monsignor Claudio S. Sale made me pause. (Frankly, I did not know what sacerdotal meant and had to look it up in the dictionary which is defined as “of or relating to priesthood.” Just in case you didn’t either, now you know!). -

I am deeply honored to be here as Governor David Ige’s nominee for this important position. I feel humbled by this once-in-a- lifetime opportunity. I am also grateful for Ford Fuchigami’s support of my nomination. I realize I have big shoes to fill, but I look forward to continuing the work he has done for DOT. There are family members, friends, mentors, and colleagues who have done so much over the years to make this day possible. I am deeply appreciative for their love and support. I want to especially thank my mom, along with my dad, for their aspirations and sacrifices. My father is no longer with us, but he’s here in spirit for my brother Walden, my sister Melody and me. They instilled values that shaped who we are today and built the bridge to connect us to our tomorrows. I would like to thank the Deputy Directors and the dedicated staff at the department for everything they do. They are the unsung heroes for the work they do every day. It’s a great privilege to work with them. -

International Journal of Social Sciences and Entrepreneurship, 1 (9), 588-610. ABSTRACT This study was conducted in class AAA Philippine resorts based on the premise that customer satisfaction and loyalty has a significant relationship to service quality. A self-structured survey questionnaire was constructed and underwent face validity and pilot testing using Cronbach Alpha. Valid survey questionnaires were retrieved from 300 respondents who visited any of the class AAA resorts between 2012 and 2013. Interview with resort managers was conducted to gain additional information. The demographic profile of respondents was identified and customer satisfaction dimensions physical (α=.89), technological (α=.72), human resource (α=.94) and sales and marketing (α=.91) were examined in terms of its relationship to customer loyalty dimensions positive word-of-mouth (α=.87), first-in-mind (α=.87) and repurchase intention (α=.70). With the use of percentage distribution, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s r and ETA Coefficient, results were obtained. The results showed that majority of the respondents were female young professional with a monthly income of under P40,000.00 whose primary source of satisfaction is the physical dimension of the resort and will spread positive word-of-mouth. -

As of 2004, the total length of the non-toll road network was reported to be 202,860 km, with the following breakdown according to type: • National roads - 15% • Provincial roads - 13% • City and municipal roads - 12% • Barangay (barrio) roads - 60% Road classification is based primarily on administrative responsibilities (with the exception of barangays), i.e., which level of government built and funded the roads. -

Vigía: The Network of Lookout Points in Spanish Guam Carlos Madrid Richard Flores Taitano Micronesian Area Research Center There are indications of the existence of a network of lookout points around Guam during the 18th and 19th centuries. This is suggested by passing references and few explicit allusions in Spanish colonial records such as early 19th Century military reports. In an attempt to identify the sites where those lookout points might have been located, this paper surveys some of those references and matches them with existing toponymy. It is hoped that the results will be of some help to archaeologists, historic preservation staff, or anyone interested in the history of Guam and Micronesia. While the need of using historic records is instrumental for the abovementioned purposes of this paper, focus will be given to the Chamorro place name Bijia. Historical evolution of toponymy, an area of study in need of attention, offers clues about the use or significance that a given location had in the past. The word Vigía today means “sentinel” in Spanish - the person who is responsible for surveying an area and warn of possible dangers. But its first dictionary definition is still "high tower elevated on the horizon, to register and give notice of what is discovered". Vigía also means an "eminence or height from which a significant area of land or sea can be seen".1 Holding on to the latter definition, it is noticeable that in the Hispanic world, in large coastal territories that were subjected to frequent attacks from the sea, the place name Vigía is relatively common. -

But tell me a story, and it will live in my heart forever.” Foreword In 1998 retired U. S. Air Force Colonel Gerald M. Adams published a booklet, “The Bells of Balangiga”. It was printed in Cheyenne, Wyoming and described the history of two bells taken from the ruble of a burned church belfry in the Philippines and brought to Fort D. A. Russell in 1904. Today they reside on F. E. Warren Air Force Base in a brick wall structure on Trophy Park, a grassy triangle near historic officers’ quarters. Gerry Adams enjoyed local history, wrote first about the bells for the Annals of Wyoming in 1987, and authored other historical articles. -
