Brookst INTRODUCTION Sarah, a twelve-year-old child, was raped by the boyfriend of her mother, Ms. P.1 Ms. P. denied the rape. After an investigation, the state's department of human services filed a petition in juvenile court alleging that Sarah was dependent and neglected in that her mother failed to protect her from the perpetrator. The judge appointed a lawyer for Ms. P. and a separate Guardian Ad Litem ("GAL") lawyer to represent Sarah's "best interests." Despite Sarah's insistence that she wanted to remain with her mother, the judge ordered that Sarah be removed from Ms. P.'s home and placed in state custody. -

DIVORCE A divorce is when two individuals petition the court to formally end their marriage. Divorce includes the division of marital property. If a couple has children, the court also will determine the custody arrangement for those children. You can learn more about divorce on the Equal Justice Wyoming website here. It is possible to complete the divorce process without an attorney. Completing the process without an attorney is called a “pro se divorce.” Divorces without attorneys are easiest when there are no children and the parties agree about the majority of the property distribution. You can access directions and packets for a pro se divorce here. ANNULMENT An annulment is when the marriage is dissolved as if it never existed. It is very hard to receive an annulment and most marriages will not qualify. Annulments occur in two situations. When the marriage is void and when the marriage is voidable. VOID MARRIAGES: When a marriage is void, it means that the marriage could not have taken place under the law—therefore it does not exist. -

NY 443/Delaware Avenue from Elsmere Avenue to the Normanskill Bridge Summary of Key Findings: Existing Conditions Report – January 2017 NY 443/Delaware Avenue in the Town of Bethlehem is owned and maintained by New York State. In general, it is a four-lane roadway 48 feet wide, with two 11-foot wide travel lanes in each direction, one-foot wide shoulders, and two-foot wide striping in the center. The roadway widens in the central part of the study area near Delaware Plaza and provides a 5-lane cross section (60 feet wide), and transitions on both ends to provide a two-lane cross section entering the Delmar hamlet on the west, and the City of Albany to the east. The roadway right-of-way is typically 66 feet wide; 90 feet wide near the Delaware Plaza, and variable width approaching the Normanskill bridge. As an urban minor arterial in a Commercial Hamlet District, Delaware Avenue serves several different functions. The roadway provides access to adjacent residential neighborhood streets and residences, businesses and a school, as well as serving as a multi-modal commuting route between the Town of Bethlehem and the City of Albany and activities elsewhere in the region. Delaware Avenue from Elsmere Avenue to Delaware Plaza carries about 18,300 vehicles on an average weekday. Daily traffic volumes between Delaware Plaza and the Normanskill Bridge are lower at approximately 15,600 vehicles. The amount of motor vehicle traffic along Delaware Avenue has remained relatively the same over the last 30 years. CDTA’s bus route 18 travels the study area providing service between Slingerlands and downtown Albany with most frequent service provided during the evening commute. -

Atlanta’s Course of Action uses specific required goals and actions, several of which are as follows: Reducing Tax Burdens Atlanta targets private industry and small businesses with development impact fee exemptions, Urban Enterprise Zones, state authorized tax increment financing, retail incentives tax zones, and community improvement districts. Improving Local Services In order to address poverty, the City will continue to develop a citizen driven process to train neighborhood volunteers to assist in family needs assessment, provide a forum for human service agencies to speak with residents one on one and develop and implement a follow-up system. Key services include transportation, day care and other services targeting ethnic groups, youth and elderly. Reducing Crime The Department of Police, Fire, Corrections and Emergency Management will expand Community Policing, develop supportive technological tools and target all crimes for reduction. Programs include Operation Take Back, the new Domestic Violence Program, Weed and Seed and participation in downtown’s Interagency Law Enforcement Group and the Community Court. Reducing Government Requirements The city plans to streamline the construction and development permitting process, improve zoning and land use restrictions and implement incentive zoning. These strategies will address high land costs. A brownfield assessment project is also underway.
