Although her predecessor as chancellor also had no professional education experience, this has not stopped detractors. In her defense, she will have a number of career educators as deputies, and did spend 16+ years attending school. If you believe good management and a focus on results are important, you might find her to be a strong pick. The city avoided a long search process and lame duck period. The New York Times criticized this book as being “full of platitudes.” Let me know if you find a leadership book that isn’t.
