PRODUCER’S NOTE: The photographs from June 5, 1952 are not from an Oscar Peterson Trio date but the Norman Granz Jam Session recording that featured , Johnny Hodges and .

All sessions were recorded at Radio Recorders in Los Angeles or Fulton Studios in and were transferred from the original master tapes. However some of the original session reels are no longer in the possession of Universal Music and therefore we have had to use whatever source was made available to us (in some cases second generation tape sources).

78s were used for the following as the tape sources are no longer in the vaults: Booker T. Blues, Pooper and Streets Boogie. A 78 was also used for Rough Ridin’ since the tape source was dubbed from an LP that was off-center and so a 78 copy was used.

These titles, initially recorded onto tape, were also missing in the vaults, and therefore came from LP transfers: A Fine Romance, Alexander’s Ragtime band, Always, Anything Goes, Begin the Beguine, But Not For Me, Cheek to Cheek, Cotton Tail, Easter Parade, How Deep Is The Ocean, I Love You, If I Had You, In The Still Of The Night, Isn’t It Romantic, Isn’t This A Lovely Day, It’s Easy To Remember, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Johnny One Note, Just One Of Those Things, Love For Sale, Lover, More Than You Know, Oh, Lady Be Good, Pick Yourself Up, Prelude To A Kiss, Remember, Say It Isn’t So, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Sometimes I’m Happy, The Song Is Ended, Sophisticated Lady, The Surrey With The Fringe On Top, This Can’t Be Love, Time On My Hands, What Is This Thing Called Love, Without A Song and Yesterdays.

There were also two EP transfers: Long Ago And Far Away and Bill.

Sources used for this discography were Michel Ruppli’s The Clef / Verve Labels (Greenwood Press) and The Jazz Discography by Tom Lord (Cadence Jazz Books).
