A YEAR TO REMEMBER

Another year has gone by and once again it gives me great pleasure to thank and congratulate every member of our great team for all your commitment and hard work, which has led to us exceed the results of previous years.

There have been some very significant events in 2014 which I would like to highlight here. 9,653 employees Territory Europe - South America Last March we took a huge step forward in the diversification policy of our sources of finance, issuing a bond with great success.

The Vice Chairman of Grupo Antolin, Ernesto Antolín, accompanied by the Moroccan Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, officially opened the company’s second factory in Tangier on 29 October 2014. This center, which will specialize in stitching seat covers, joins the existing plant that produces overheads and sun visors for some of the world’s leading car manufacturers.

Ernesto Antolín expressed his pride at the opening of the new plant and noted that it represents “a logical evolution. When very few people would have put money on the development of an in Morocco, we believed it was a region that offered many possibilities and we decided to open our first plant here. We have always been welcomed with open arms and the people here have been extremely generous to us. This fact, along with our clients’ faith in us and the development of the sector, has led to the opening of this second plant.”

At the seminar on 29 October, the date of the inauguration of the new plant, Mª Helena Antolín, the Corporate Director of Marketing, Communication and Public Affairs at Grupo Antolin, took part in the AMT Forum (Automotive Meetings Tangier-Med) organized by the Moroccan Association for Automotive Industry and Trade (AMICA).

Mª Helena noted that “Our commitment to Tangier was not as a result of our cli- ents establishing themselves here, which is usually the case, but came about a few years earlier as part of our policy to develop competitive markets. Looking back, and analyzing the decade that has passed since we first started out here, we can say that the Moroccan market, the Renault project and the commitment of local institutions to the business sector and the automotive industry have more than fulfilled Grupo Antolin’s expecta- tions.”

At the seminar, which brought together the leading automotive manufacturers and suppliers, an analysis was made of the key factors necessary to guarantee the competitiveness of this industry in Morocco. The event was attended by Moulay Hafid Elalamy, the Moroccan Minister of Industry, Trade, Investments and Digital Economy; Mohamed Bous- said, the Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance, and Jacques Prost, the CEO of Renault Morocco.

Mª Helena Antolín was a member of the panel on “Success Stories of Parts Manu- facturers”, sharing the stage with Jeroen Deen, General Manager of Yazaki Paris, and Daniel Anghelone, President of the Bontaz Group.

grupoantolin 14 INFORMA SELFportrait Mini años 70. Why did you decide to work in the automotive industry? I think in one way or another we were all attracted by the automotive world when we were young. When I completed my degree I had various options to choose from and my inclination was this industry.

Your dream car An autonomous car. Getting in, naming a destination and a suggested average speed and letting yourself be taken there. It may seem a long way off but just a few years ago we could barely imagine Automatic Speed Controllers, GPS, etc.

Your favorite car color I tend to go for discreet metallic effects (blue or silver).

Someone you admire in the automotive world This is probably rather unimaginative, but I would say Henry Ford, who popularized the automobile by making it accessible to all.

What automobile invention impresses you the most? Anything related to safety. I think I would highlight the airbag.

What would you have liked to invent? Like my earlier answer, an essential function for me is the Automatic Speed Controller (with proximity radar).

What’s your driving byword… Many years ago, my family and I had a serious traffic accident which had some significant after- effects. In this respect, I’m particularly sensitive about careful driving. I value my family very highly and I don’t think it’s ever worth putting anyone’s life in danger just to get somewhere five or ten minutes earlier.

What was your first car? A second-hand Mini that had belonged to my mother, which I shared with my two elder brothers. We’re talking about a 1970s Mini… Even after many years of use by me and my brothers, my older brother was brave enough to give it to a friend who, incomprehensibly, still has it today!

What will we be driving in 20 years? I think we’ll continue witnessing little technological leaps (which put into the perspective of two decades, will seem more important) that will lean towards respecting the environment, more autonomous driving, increased safety and the generalized use of information technologies. These advances will take shape in the form of smart motorways and roads, the generalized use of internet systems in vehicles and communication systems between vehicles.

The Passive House standard. The building will combine VERY HIGH INTERIOR AIR QUALITY and OUTSTANDING INTERIOR COMFORT in both winter and summer with VERY LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION.

Grupo Antolin’s new plant is now a reality and represents another step forward in the group’s strategy. On the one hand, it is the first plant in which doors will be injected for Ford. On the other, it represents anoth- er step forward in the company’s sustain- ability policy and will become its most sus- tainable building through the inclusion of Passive House technology. Early estimates point to potential savings of 90% of the building’s total energy demand.

grupoantolin 16 INFORMA PASSIVE HOUSE (Passivhaus in German) The Passive House standard was developed officially in 1988 by professors Bo Adamson, from Lund University in Sweden, and Wolfgang Feist, from the German Institute for Building and the Environment.

The commitment to this technology – which represents another step forward in the sustainability of buildings – is based on the fact that the cost of a building is not just about its actual construction cost but also its energy and maintenance re- quirements, which add to its overall cost over its useful life. Unresolved environ- mental crises and the exhaustion of fossil fuels mean that we are now questioning the validity of many of the processes we have used thus far, even though they have worked for decades, and this is inspiring us to adopt precautionary principles that minimize our energy dependence and our impact on the natural environment. The choice of solid materials with high heat inertia such as thermal clay blocks on the façades and concrete in the floors encourages energy regulation in day-night-day cycles. This choice allows heat to build up during the day and dissipate during the night.

A very high level of heat insulation Even in a temperate climate such as Va- lencia, heat insulation is essential to min- imize losses or gains through transmis- sion; in other words, to prevent heat from escaping in winter and from entering in summer. For the GA-Valplas offices, it was planned to install 100 mm of mineral wool insulation in the façades, 150 mm on the roof and 40 mm under the extruded polystyrene base

Joinery and high- performance windows Each pane was chosen specifically for its orientation, and its heat insulation and solar protection factor were prescribed according to the amount of direct solar radiation received by the window, seek- ing the maximum heat input from the sun in winter and the minimum in summer. The joinery used is the most efficient on the Spanish market as well as being cer- tified by the Passivhaus Institute, and has a thermal transmittance (U-value) of 0.77 W/(m²K). Absence of thermal breaks A thermal break is a weakening in the building’s thermal envelope and is a regu- lar feature of any conventional construc- tion in the joins, corners, etc. This weak- ening is responsible for a large proportion of energy losses from buildings. All ther- mal breaks have been removed from the GA-Valplas building. Thermal insulation is continuous throughout the building’s envelope, even at the base. Before com- pleting the façades with the exterior clad- ding, they were checked exhaustively by Emmepolis Novecento.

During the building work, all joins between materials were executed and treated with sealing tapes and building elements that guaran- tee this airtightness. At the end a pressure test known as the Blower Door test was carried out which entails removing the air from inside the building by fans installed in one of the apertures, whether a win- The seal between where the installation dow or door. ducts pass across the building’s envelope.

grupoantolin INFORMA 19 BENEFITS There are numerous benefits in a building such as the GA-Valplas office:

IT IS HEALTHY: controlled air renewal removes both CO2 and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) as well as formaldehydes and chlorobenzenes which are chemicals found in many construction and furniture materials. These substances are harmful to human health and can cause fatigue, headaches, low concentration, impairments to the senses of smell and taste, etc.

IT IS COMFORTABLE: the thermal envelope guarantees an interior temperature of between 20° and 25°, depending on the time of year, as well as balanced relative humidity and excellent acoustic protection.

All the ventilated air that enters the building does so through filters which prevent dust, pollen, etc. from coming in, guaranteeing excellent air quality inside the building.

IT IS MORE HYGIENIC: the thermal envelope and the ventilation guarantee the non-proliferation of microorganisms, fungi and mould from condensation.

IT IS SUSTAINABLE: the building’s high energy efficiency will reduce CO₂ emissions and help to protect non-renewable energy sources. Moreover, as it uses so little energy it makes it more viable to use renewable energies as a supply source.

SAVING: the Valplas office building will also save 90% of energy across its useful lifetime. The investment in the building is expected to start amortizing after five years.

grupoantolin 20 INFORMA Mechanical ventilation with a heat exchanger Once the building is perfectly insulated and airtight, it needs ventilation. By law, all buildings must have ventilation that guarantees the health and hygiene of the interior atmosphere through air renewal. In our case, we chose double-flow me- chanical ventilation with a heat exchang- er. This means that the heat carried in the interior air, on its journey through the heat exchanger, is transferred to the fresh air being brought in from outside, previ- ously filtered and in a perfect state of hy- giene, recovering up to 85% of its internal energy. In this way, the air that enters the building has already been warmed.

By following these principles, the Valplas office building will have so little need for en- Airtightness test. Source: Emmepolis Novecento The building has also taken into account the limitation on the demand for primary energy. Primary energy is what is found in nature before it is transformed, and this is taken into account when calculating the equivalent CO₂ emissions into the at- mosphere. From production, storage and transport through to consumption, up to two-thirds of energy can be lost, depend- ing on the type. The demand for primary energy in the Valplas building, compris- ing central-heating, air-conditioning, hot water, electricity, lighting, etc. will be lower than 120 kWh/m2 per year, which is equivalent to 40 kWh/m2 at the point of consumption. Conventional office build- ings demand three times this amount.

To achieve this objective, the on-site in- stallation is fundamental. 5th Generation 2005-2014 Some important changes were record- ed in the Mustang’s history with the fifth generation. The American design- ers made a 180º turnaround and gave it a completely retro image based on the 1964 model.

The sixth generation maintains the Mus- tang essence but the interior has been enlarged along with the trunk capacity. The dashboard and the instrument pan- el have been slightly redesigned to make them more attractive and intuitive; the bodywork has been modernized and lengthened, and the ceiling height and back have been lowered.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE LOGO The 1962 concept car was the first to bear the insignia of a galloping horse. It was dreamt up by designer Phil Clark and the emblem was developed even more for the production vehicle which would be launched two years later in 1964.

MUSTANG AND COLOR Throughout the history of the Ford Mus- tang, 21% of the models have been man- ufactured in red. For many years, red was the color of choice for numerous buyers, although this has not always been the case.

The favorite color has changed many times during the model’s 50 year histo- ry. The range of colors offered by Ford for the Mustang bodywork even had to be enlarged when the use of color televi- sions went mainstream. From that time on, people started demanding a bigger range of shades.
