Council GENERAL TRANS/WP.5/2005/16/Add.8 24 October 2005 ENGLISH ONLY ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE INLAND TRANSPORT COMMITTEE Working Party on Transport Trends and Economics (Eighteenth session, 15-16 September 2005, agenda item 3(b)) MONITORING OF DEVELOPMENTS RELEVANT FOR THE PAN-EUROPEAN TRANSPORT CORRIDORS AND AREAS Infrastructure bottlenecks and missing links Transmitted by the Government of Hungary According to the report on “Infrastructure Bottlenecks and Missing Links in the European Transport Network” bottlenecks can be caused by: (1) insufficient infrastructure capacity; (2) low quality of transport infrastructure. In the same manner, the phenomenon of a “missing link” may be considered as a situation in which the quality of service has extremely low values due to the fact that no direct link exists between two points. As described in the above-mentioned document, as a simplified method, for individual road categories, one may take the following capacities in terms of number of vehicles as the average daily traffic: − 4-lane motorway: 40,000 – 60,000 PCU/24 hrs − roads of 2 lanes: 8,000 – 12,000 PCU/24 hrs As in the case of roads, there are a great number of factors determining the bottlenecks on a railway line. It is practically impossible to concentrate all elements in a single bottleneck measure. In order to reach practical measures it appeared appropriate to take the following capacity limits: TRANS/WP.5/2005/16/Add.8 page 2 − Single track main lines: 1 x 60 – 80 trains/day − Double track main lines: 2 x 100 – 200 trains/day According to that definition, the bottlenecks regarding the Hungarian TEN road network are described below. -

HUNGARY GENERAL REPORT 2015 ASECAP STUDY AND INFORMATION DAYS MADRID, 23 - 25 MAY 2016 Network length Length of the motorway network in Hungary as of 31 December 2015: 1.180 km. The length of the motorway, expressway and trunk road sections operated by the Hungarian Public Road Nonprofit Pte Ltd Co. (MK NZrt.) as of 31 December 2015 are: 1071 km. The Hungarian Public Road Company is responsible for the operation and maintenance of M1, M3, M30, M31, M35, M43, M7, M8 Motorways; M5 Motorway between km sections 13 - 17.4, M6 Motorway between km sections 14 - 22,3 and several expressways (M0, M2,…). 2 AKA Zrt. (AKA Alföld Concession Motorway Co. Ltd.) is a Concession Company responsible for the operation and maintenance of M5 Motorway between km section 17+400 and 173+895, total length of 156,5 km. Overall length of the bridges on the M5 motorway are 3,7 km. No more sections are foreseen at the moment to be included in this Concession. M6 Duna Autópálya Koncessziós Zrt. (M6 Danube Concession Motorway Co. Ltd.) is a Concession Company responsible for the operation and maintenance of M6 between km sections 22+150 and 76+200 and M8 between km sections 5+750 and 10+300 which sections were opened to traffic on 11 June 2006. The bridges on the above motorways are 2,81 km long (including all types of bridges). No more sections are foreseen at the moment to be included in this Concession. M6 Tolna Autópálya Koncessziós Zrt. (M6 Tolna Motorway Concession Ltd.) is a Concession Company responsible for the design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance of M6 motorway between km sections 76+200 and 141+300. -

Executive Summary Of Detailed Environmental Impact Study (DEIS) M6 MOTORWAY SECTION BETWEEN ÉRDI TETÔ – DUNAÚJVÁROS 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Hungary’s existing Road No. 6 has developed into a very busy transit road. The existing road is unable to cope with the heavy traffic flow and especially with international transit traffic. It was obvious already in the early 1990’s that the heavy traffic flow of Trunk Road No. 6 led to unacceptable environmental conditions (noise, air pollution, waste and other problems) in the accessed communities. Road No. 6 includes urban sections (Ercsi, Adony), suburban sections (Érd, Százhalombatta, Sinatelep, Kulcs, Rácalmás, Dunaújváros), and several sections built on the flood dike of River Danube. Due to its alignment and construction standards this road is unable to meet the requirements of traffic safety. Road No. 6 has a record of exceptionally high number of serious and fatal traffic accidents. A bypass section of Road No. 6 was opened in 1990 in an effort to relieve the urban area of Érd City and the environment. By this bypass section Érd bound and through traffic streams have been effectively separated. However, this has not been followed by other relief or bypass sections. These conditions ask for a brand new road section to support economic growth in the region while bypassing all settlements. The proposed Motorway M6 will bypass the communities as it will run mostly in cultivated agricultural areas. 1.2 Objectives of the Project With completion of the M6 motorway a fast and a good quality link will be provided at the level of state roads. -

Transnational Strategy for the Sustainable Territorial Development of the Danube Area with special regard to Tourism DATOURWAY Abstract TOURISM SURVEY Hungary February 2010, Budapest Introduction Tourism has gradually grown into the most important sector in terms of job-creation, as well as a leading economic sector with a growth rate exceeding that of the global economy. Tourism can provide a future for economic development for a country, a region, a town or a village. The World Tourism Organisation (WTO) forecasts that the contribution of tourism revenues to the GDP will rise from 10% today to 13% in 2020 (with tourist arrivals rising threefold). At the same time, it must be born in mind that the number and length of stay of tourists in Hungary saw a continuous decline in the past 20 years, and the recent economic recession domestic tourism has also come to a halt. Tourism accounts for 8.76% of domestic GDP1 and provides 328 thousand jobs, plays an extremely significant role in improving the balance of foreign trade, facilitates the exhaustion of local potential and restoring regional imbalances, while having a positive impact on the quality of life. Despite its favourable potentials, the Hungarian tourism sector faces many a problem, such as the amount of per capita spending, a medium-scale figure by European standards, the strong seasonality factor, as well as the high level of geographical concentration. These can be explained by several factors, such as the insufficient quality and quantity of tourism supply, the inappropriate conditions of tourist welcome services, outdated training skills and the underdeveloped operational structure of the tourism sector (a well-coordinated organisational system with appropriate financing, responsible for the development of tourism destination areas and management, with clearly designated competencies and professional skills). -
