RESUMO 4 Nesta tese, buscou-se elucidar alguns aspectos determinantes do fenômeno contemporâneo do transexualismo de acordo com a abordagem psicanalítica de orientação lacaniana. A lógica do fenômeno foi discernida, por um lado, em torno da abordagem lacaniana da sexuação como “opção de identificação sexuada” (nesses termos designada na lição de 14 de maio de 1974 do seminário 21) e, por outro, considerando a abordagem lacaniana do “sinthoma”. A reflexão procurou sustentar sua demonstração com base na análise de alguns casos de transexualismo. A partir desse material clínico e dos testemunhos, foram investigadas as circunstâncias pelas quais o gozo transexualista, que termina por conduzir à cirurgia de mudança de sexo e aos hormônios, permite alcançar uma sorte de solução que mantém a pessoa ligada à realidade, ao semelhante e ao próprio corpo. Ao final deste estudo, assinalou-se a singularidade desses casos, fazendo ressaltar que as soluções encontradas em cada um deles estiveram subordinadas a uma circunstância contingente, a despeito da lógica fálica. Essas soluções são um tratamento que, na maioria dos casos, alcança resolver o nó da personalidade, nesses casos. ABSTRACT 5 This thesis looked for elucidate some key aspects of the contemporary phenomenon of transsexualism according to lacanian psychoanalytic approach guidance. The logic of the phenomenon has been discerned, the one hand, around the approach of sexuation lacanian considered as an “option of sexual identification” (in these terms designated in Seminar 21, 14 May 1974), and on the other hand, considering the lacanian approach of the “sinthome”. Reflection tried to support its argument based on the analysis of some cases of transsexualism. From this clinical material and testimonies were investigated the circumstances under which the transsexual enjoyment, which ends up leading to sex change surgery and hormones, allows the transsexual to achieve a sort of solution that keeps the person connected to reality, to another, and the body itself. In the end, the study indicated the uniqueness of these cases, noting that the solutions found in each case were subordinated to the occurrence of a contingent event, despite the phallic logic. These solutions are one treatment which reaches resolve the node of personality in those cases. Qualquer amor já é um pouquinho de saúde, um descanso na loucura. João Guimarães Rosa (Grande sertão: veredas) Prólogo Devo confessar que a escrita do que se segue tende mais para um estilo ensaístico do que para os rigores discursivos de uma tese. Em outra ocasião, o tempo de minha dissertação de mestrado sobre o transexualismo, eu fui bem mais disciplinada quanto a metodologia demonstrativa. Assim, não fiz senão denunciar a psicose como estrutura. Naquele tempo, não foi possível fazer diferente, estava muito tomada pela 12 clínica estrutural e pouco habituada com a clínica dos nós, a clínica do sinthoma. Não era possível ousar. Agora ganhei mais estrada, percorri mais intensamente os desfiladeiros do transexualismo. Então, foi preciso adotar esse outro estilo, um pouco mais livre das amarras de um texto demonstrativo. De outra forma, teria sido uma impostura psicanalítica que me faria derrapar no mais original que o fenômeno aporta no mundo contemporâneo. Os fenômenos extremos exigem sutilezas clínicas maiores para que possam ser lidos. O fenômeno do transexualismo (e o sintoma da personalidade que o acompanha) é uma dessas situações extremas com as quais a psicanálise é chamada a lidar no nosso tempo. Durante quatro anos, os parágrafos de Lacan no seminário 23 sobre o nó da personalidade e o sinthoma me espreitavam. Cada palavra, cada movimento das cordas RSIΣ desenhado na citação oscilava diante do meu pensamento enigmaticamente, provocando minha inibição intelectual. Tratar- se-ia de migração de estruturas? Seria possível? Será possível que estruturas migram, como os pássaros? Apenas uma provocação. Nós, os nós RSIΣ, atam e se desatam. Os nós podem se amarrar e desamarrar. Para atar um nó que desatou, é preciso corrigir o lapso do nó, naquele ponto mesmo em que o nó fracassou. Às vezes isso pode levar um pouco de tempo, às vezes, pode acontecer que seja rápida a reparação. Gênio das père-versions. Exatamente no ponto em que a menina, ou o menino, se extraviou e conheceu o abandono de ser a coisa do outro; o drama da existência de sua pessoa foi amarrado em continuidade com essa infelicidade do destino. No destino das coisas, o menino, ou a menina, extraviados de si, acabaram reconhecendo que, por conta dessa sorte, se tornaram pessoas compelidas a dizer que o seu corpo não é seu. Drama que se pode desvendar pela psicanálise de orientação lacaniana, às vezes com um esforço de poesia (não sou poetisa), às vezes com um esforço de matemática (não sou matemática). Essa tese é um esforço para discernir as veredas que conduzem da paixão transexualista à afirmação da “pessoa que se é”: ser que está vivo, que adquiriu personalidade e alcançou realidade. Upon deciding at the age of twenty-three to follow the family tradition of a life in letters, he prepared as his first work for independent publication a short pamphlet on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, which his friend Alastair Graham commissioned for his private press in 1926. Waugh followed up two years later with a book-length biography of Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1928). The choice of subjects was natural, for Waugh’s ambitions had been in the visual arts: a prolific illustrator of undergraduate magazines, he had been famous among his college friends as a talented draftsman rather than a budding poet.[1] His first published work of any kind emerged from an adolescence steeped in visits to galleries and readings on modern artists: a short essay, “In Defence of Cubism,” appeared in the journal Drawing and Design when he was fourteen years old. As the title hints, the essay expresses infatuation with the Formalist school of criticism led by Roger Fry—loyalties that Waugh would abandon by the time he began work on the Pre-Raphaelites. Eventually, Waugh allowed his painterly identity to slip behind the persona of the writer.[2] He continued writing art criticism under other guises. When Waugh revived college memories decades later, his great semi-autobiographical novel Brideshead Revisited (1945) represented a return to his origins in the visual arts. This novel acquired early fame as the portrait of an era, but its period atmosphere relies on detailed evocation of visual culture.

He produced across five decades and four continents. He was a novelist, a poet, an essayist, and a correspondent at home in all media. He never met a “little magazine” or an interviewer he wouldn’t share with. There have been a few attempts at documenting the range of Burroughs’ prodigious output over the years—some better than others.
