In front of a crowd of 4,844 fans, Reno beat Rio Grande Valley FC 3-2 thanks to Richards’ thrilling goal in the 77th minute from an assist from defender Luis Felipe Fernandes, who scored 11 minutes earlier. Wednesday’s match against the Toros marked the first meeting between the clubs and after a brief defensive struggle, both clubs turned up their respective offensive attacks. Rio Grande Valley FC came into the match as one of the best defensive clubs in the USL. And it was the Toros who struck first in the 20th minute thanks to a goal by Memo Rodriguez. Two minutes later, one of the most prolific scorers in all of U.S. professional soccer, answered back. Reno forward Dane Kelly notched his 11th USL goal of the season in the 22nd minute after a beautiful assist by Antoine Hoppenot. But Wednesday belonged to Reno defenders like Richards and Fernandes who both helped Reno 1868 FC answer back after RGV midfielder Eric Bird tied the match up in the 74th minute after converting his penalty kick. Midfielder Chris Wehan’s assist to Fernandes’ goal in the 66th minute added to his chances created tally that keeps on growing as the season progresses. With the Union, Brown made eight appearances and scored two goals. In 2013, Brown played for Harbor View FC in Jamaica’s Red Stripe Premier League. With Harbor View, he won the RSPL Golden Boot (most valuable player award) after scoring 18 goals. Last year, Brown played for Charlotte Independence in the United Soccer League where he scored nine goals in 27 appearances. Junior Burgos / 10 / Midfielder On June 21, 2014, he made his international debut in a 2-0 victory against the Dominican Republic. Three months later, Burgos was named to El Salvador’s UNCAF Cup roster. Prior to his international stints, Burgos was selected in the third round of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC. Seth Casiple / 84 / Midfielder Casiple, 23, was selected by the Portland Timbers in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. After being released, Casiple signed on with Portland Timbers 2 of the USL. In his debut with the club, he assisted two goals in a 2-0 victory over Premier Development League club Michigan Bucks in the third round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Brenton Griffiths / 23 / Defender Griffiths, 25, played at the international level for Jamaica’s U-17 and U-20 teams. He was then selected by the Colorado Rapids in the second round of the 2013 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft. Griffiths was later recruited for the USL’s Orange County Blues where he played four seasons.

Kickoff is slated for 7:15 p.m. for World Cup Celebration Night. Reno’s unbeaten streak began with a win over the playoff-contending Portland Timbers 2 back on April 21 in Portland. Reno has not lost a game since and will look to build on its playoff campaign against a squad one spot ahead in the Western Conference standings. Reno sits in seventh place after starting off the year at the bottom of the table going winless through its first four matches. Reno is coming off a 2-0 road win over San Antonio FC. Forward Brian Brown leads the club with five goals while Antoine Hoppenot sits atop the assist rankings with six. Portland has maintained its excellent form despite going 2-3 in their past five matches. Foster Langs- dorf leads the club with six goals this year, just three behind Golden Boot leaders Kharlton Belmar and Thomas Enevoldsen. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite national team jersey to Saturday’s match in honor of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
