Both Noosa Hillclimbs (Summer and Winter) are promoted by a joint venture of the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club (NBCCC) and Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland (HRCC),and have steadily increased in popularity over the last 20 years. The course is claimed to be Australia’s Toughest Hillclimb, combining 14 challenging corners with a steady rise to the top of the range, all centred in the beautiful Tewantin National Park. Of course, Noosa/Tewantin provides plentiful accommodation and entertainment, so a longer stay is popular. Billed as the Classic and Sports Car Challenge, the Summer Hillclimb is open to all types, but, with the glorious Noosa weather, is especially suited to Sportscars and open-wheel Racing Cars, whether road registered or not. For 2018, Historic cars will be included in the appropriate age bracket, rather than run separately. The three age brackets are: Classic (Pre-1980) Early Modern (1981-2000) And Modern (post 2000) includes Classes for Racing Cars, Sports Cars, Sports Sedans and Touring Cars, and a Regularity Hillclimb. It’s with sadness we report the passing of Paul Trevethan at 77 after battles with cancer. Paul was the first HTCAV President in 1980, a driving force behind the establishing of the first regulations for the revived Appendix J category and the first CAMS Eligibility Officer. He was a race winner in the early days behind the wheel of the ex-Moffat Lotus Cortina and built a thunderous ‘crowd favourite’ Galaxie - both these cars eventually went to England. A subsequent Lotus Cortina was built, a tribute car for the Shell Racing Jim McKeown Mk 1 car that has recently been and remains for sale. Paul was also a life member of the MG Car Club and his orange V8 MGB won many races over four decades; he also raced many other MGs, T-series, A and B. Paul also rebuilt and raced the Ansett Elfin F5000 and the ex-John McCormack Leyland-engined F5000 car.

Vehicle Eligibility 3.4 HISTORIC TOURING CARS 3.4.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Groups A, C and U cover cars which have a documented competition history in their given periods and reference should be made to their specific regulations further on in this section for more details. Group N is designed to provide a forum for competitors to race production touring cars which do not necessarily have a racing history, but are presented in a form similar to racing of the period. Limited modifications may be made. These should be of a period nature and not out of character with the vehicle or group period. This section details the requirements common to all the Group N historic production touring cars that do not have a competition history. Additional specific requirements for individual groups are detailed in the individual group sections and all groups are also subject to the 5th Category general requirements set out in article 3.1. Vehicles shall comply with all relevant requirements of Schedules A, B and C (refer “General Requirements for Cars and Drivers” in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport), where not in conflict with the Group N regulations. A high standard of presentation will be insisted upon at all times. Any vehicle considered to be of an inappropriate standard will be rejected. Vehicles decorated in a manner not consistent with the period (such as ‘modern’ graphics) may be considered to be of an inappropriate standard. Modifications may be made in accordance with the freedoms outlined in these and the group-specific regulations.
