Library of Congress Interview with Robert C. Haney The Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training Foreign Affairs Oral History Project ROBERT C. HANEY Interviewed by: Charles Stuart Kennedy Initial interview date: September 21, 2001 Copyright 2004 ADST Q: Today is September 21, 2001. This is an interview with Robert C. Haney. This is being done on behalf of the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training, and I'm Charles Stuart Kennedy. Let's start at the beginning. Tell me when and where you were born and something about your family. HANEY: I was born in 1921 in Independence, Iowa, a town with a population of about 3,500. Both my mother and father had been to college. My father was an instructor in manual training at the local school. My mother was a housewife. She had been a teacher. My father was from Nebraska. He had been drafted into the Army during World War I, but served only in the United States. He was of Irish origin. My paternal grandfather was still alive when I was growing up. He had been a blacksmith. I remember going out with my father to light up the forge in the blacksmith shop behind my grandparents' house. My mother was Norwegian. Unfortunately, I did not learn Norwegian as a child because we were not living in a Norwegian community. She was born in the United States but did not learn English until she was about 14 years old. She lived in a small town in Iowa called Roland, where the schools, churches, shops, everything and everybody was Norwegian. -

Introduction In recent years there have been signs of substantial research interest in marketing practices of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) (Gillmore et. al, 2001; Blankson and Stokes, 2002; Hill, 2001; Siu, 2000; Siu et. al, 2004; Morrison, 2003; Lee et. al, 2001). Most of these studies have indicated the role of marketing to be critical in the sustainability of the small firms. In a recent study (Huang and Brown, 1999), the problems of sales and marketing were reported as important by 40 percent of the firms surveyed while other important factors reported were human resources (15 percent), general management (14 percent) and production / operations (9 percent) \ In India, a survey by the All India Management Association pointed out that among 872 SSI (Small Scale Industry) units in manufacturing, growth fell by 8.1 percent in 1998-2002. One of the main reasons cited by the units for not being able to do well was problems related to marketing (70 percent) (Jain, 2003). -

Examples of Dermatology Media Coverage
kmrpr.com Examples of Dermatology Media Coverage www.examiner.com Protect the Skin You're in May is National Skin Cancer Awareness month, which means time to get in to see your Dermatologist and have a check up. While having a yearly visit is important, self-checks should be conducted every few months, with special attention to in between the toes and scalp areas often missed. This should be done despite having darker skin or no family history of the disease. All you need to know is your alphabet says Dr. Rebecca Baxt NYC/NJ board certified dermatologist who firmly believes that early detection of skin cancer can play a key role in saving people’s lives. Here are some of the things you should look for- A-Asymmetry. One side does not match the other side of the mole if you were to draw a line in the middle of the lesion. B-Border Irregularity. if the perimeter of the mole is jagged and irregular rather than smooth. C-Color Variation. Bad colors are the flag colors-red, white and blue. Also black. Also more than one color in the mole is a warning sign. Light brown or medium brown for the whole mole is usually normal. D-Diameter. Smaller than the size of a pencil eraser is usually a good sign, but not always. If the mole has other warning signs, but is small, still see your doctor. E-Evolving. The mole is changing in any way-itchy, bleeding, growing, irritated, painful, changing color. Patients often find their own skin cancers and save their own lives by bringing evolving moles to their doctors attention. -
