Important Note: If you are selected for the internship, please inform Mr. Honor immediately via email at: [email protected] Dear Educator, Junior State of America (JSA) Summer Programs give high achieving students the opportunity to strengthen heir leadership skills, study with university professors and gain familiarity with the college living experience. Studenls from all around the country who share similar interests in urrent events and civic ngagement learn together in these residential, academic programs. JSA Summer Programs help prepare students for future success at all levels - high school. college, and beyond. We would like your help identifying outstanding eighth-graders, freshmen, sophomores and juniors who have a passionate interest in politics and current events. We are seeking the type of students who are engaged in what is happening in the world around them, and look to be the future leaders ot their communities. ThiS year we have three exciting summer programs students can apply to: • JSA Summer Schools are held on the campuses of Georgetown, Princeton and Slanford, and offer college-level classes ranging from AP U.S. Government to International Relations to Speech and Political Communication. A rigorous academic curriculum is taught by university professors, combined with personal support to help students master the study skills needed to succeed in college. • The JSA Diplomat Program lakes 30 highly qualified sludent to Capilal Normal University in Beijing, China for a truly unique experience. Students pend 4 weeks studying Chinese Hlslory & Government, learning beginning conv rsational Chinese and VISiting historical cultural sites, and can also earn college credit for the coursework taken there. • The 2012 JSA Election Symposia at the Republican and Democratic National Conventions give students a behind-the-scenes look at Election 2012 through visits Lo campaign headquarters and press centers, as well as the opporlunlty to meet and question Members of Congress. campaign leaders, convention delEgates, Journalists and political activisls. If you know of students who would be strong candidates for our programs, please give them one of the included nomination cards, which provide information on where they can learn more and how to apply. You can also nominate a student by going to http://summer.·sa.or nominate and completing the brief online form. We understand you may be hesitant to nominate a student who you believe may not have the financial means to aHord he tuition for lhese programs.
