Showtime Renews €˜Shameless’ for 11Th and Final Season Showtime Renews ‘Shameless’ for 11th and Final Season 01.13.2020 Showtime's longest-running series, Shameless, will end after season 11, president of entertainment Gary Levine revealed at TCA winter press tour on Monday. "The characters of Shameless have brought Showtime viewers more laughs and tears and pure enjoyment than any program in our history," Levine said. "While we are sad to bid the Gallaghers farewell, we couldn't be more confident in the ability of showrunner John Wells, his writing team and this great cast to bring our series to its appropriately 'shameless' conclusion." Shameless is part of Showtime's three-and-a-half hours of original scripted programming on Sundays. Season 10, which airs its finale on Sunday, Jan. 26, has averaged 5.7 million weekly viewers across platforms, Showtime revealed. "I'm unbelievably thankful for all of the years of support from Gary Levine and everyone at Showtime that's allowed us to make Shameless," executive producer John Wells said in a statement. "It's been a fantastic experience and all of us in the cast and crew have had a wonderful time following the lives of the Gallagher family and friends." As Shameless come to a close, Showtime is looking toward budding series like The L Word: Generation Q and the Abby McEnany-led Work in Progress, which have been renewed for 10-episode second seasons. Both season one finales are set to air on Jan. 26. "The L Word: Generation Q took our original series that was revered and reinvigorated it for a new generation and a new era," Levine said in a statement. "The result has been a show that appeals to all generations for its relevance, its fearlessness, its emotion and its fun. I can't wait to see what Marja, along with Ilene and this talented ensemble, will deliver for season two." Next month will see the season finale of Showtime's Emmy and Golden Globe winning drama, Homeland, which debuted a new trailer on Monday. The final season will come "full circle" to season one as Carrie, post-captivity in Russia, is now under suspicion, series star Claire Danes revealed during Homeland's final TCA panel. "Her patriotism is questioned. That's the most profound insult she can image," Danes said. RELATED: Carrie Seeks Revenge in Final Season of 'Homeland' Showtime also revealed a slew of premiere dates for new and returning series airing this year. The Penny Dreadful spinoff, City of Angels, will premiere immediately after Homeland's series finale on Sunday, April 26. The original drama finished up its three-season run in the summer of 2016. Season three of The Chi will debut on Sunday, July 5. New episodes will include an onscreen appearance from creator Lena Waithe, who will play a mayoral candidate. Showtime revealed the first trailer for the upcoming season, which includes a glimpse of Waithe in her role. Other premieres include Black Monday, which will air back-to-back episodes on Sunday nights beginning March 15; and season five of Billions, which will reignite the rivalry between Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) on Sunday, May 3. Vice, the weekly newsmagazine series that originally launched on HBO back in 2013, will make its Showtime debut on Sunday, March 29 with more global, on-the-ground journalism every Sunday..

Using tools and mapping methods from Graphika, a social media intelligence firm, we study more than 10 million tweets from 700,000 Twitter accounts that linked to more than 600 fake and conspiracy news outlets. Crucially, we study fake and con- spiracy news both before and after the election, allowing us to measure how the fake news ecosystem has evolved since November 2016. Much fake news and disinformation is still being spread on Twitter. Consistent with other research, we find more than 6.6 million tweets linking to fake and conspiracy news publishers in the month before the 2016 election. Yet disinformation continues to be a substantial problem postelection, with 4.0 million tweets linking to fake and conspiracy news publishers found in a 30-day period from mid-March to mid-April 2017. Contrary to claims that fake news is a game of “whack-a-mole,” more than 80 percent of the disinformation accounts in our election maps are still active as this report goes to press.

The teaser (above) highlights the strong females leads in both shows. SMILF is a semi-autobiographic comedy written exectuive produced, directed by and starring Frankie Shaw (Mr. Robot). Based on her Sundance Film Festival Jury Award-winning short film of the same name, Shaw plays Bridgette Bird, a 20-something single mom and Boston Southie whose desires for relationships, sex and a career collide with the realities of working class single motherhood. The cast includes Rosie O'Donnell as Bridgette's prideful, outspoken South Boston mother, along with Miguel Gomez, Samara Weaving, and Alexandra and Anna Reimer. Guest stars include Connie Britton, Mark Webber and Raven Goodwin. Executive producing alongside Shaw are Michael London, Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky, and Scott King.
