‘Shameless,’ New Series ‘SMILF’ Get Joint Promo on Showtime 09.29.2017 Showtime debuted a trailer for season eight of Shameless, along with a joint promo for new series SMILF set to air immediately after on Sunday, November 9. The teaser (above) highlights the strong females leads in both shows. SMILF is a semi-autobiographic comedy written exectuive produced, directed by and starring Frankie Shaw (Mr. Robot). Based on her Sundance Film Festival Jury Award-winning short film of the same name, Shaw plays Bridgette Bird, a 20-something single mom and Boston Southie whose desires for relationships, sex and a career collide with the realities of working class single motherhood. The cast includes Rosie O'Donnell as Bridgette's prideful, outspoken South Boston mother, along with Miguel Gomez, Samara Weaving, and Alexandra and Anna Reimer. Guest stars include Connie Britton, Mark Webber and Raven Goodwin. Executive producing alongside Shaw are Michael London, Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky, and Scott King. Series producer Janice Williams also executive produced the pilot. SMILF is produced by ABC Signature Studios as a co-production with Showtime. The network also released poster art for both SMILF and Shameless. Showtime also revealed a trailer for season eight of Shameless, staring Emmy Rossum as Fiona, the eldest of six fierce and independent Gallagher kids who support each other while absentee father, Frank (William H. Macy) spends his time scheming his way around the South Side of Chicago. Season eight finds the Gallagher family on an upswing as Frank comes out of a drug-induced haze and decides it's finally time to be a contributing member of society, while Fiona faces hard decisions when she discovers her success as a landlord may mean someone else's misfortune. Meanwhile, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) struggles with unexpected sacrifices he must make to stay sober, while Ian (Cameron Monaghan) takes up a cause in hopes of getting back with Trevor. Debbie (Emma Kenney) builds her future at welding school while juggling life as a single working mom, as Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) gets creative finding tuition money after he loses his scholarship. Liam (Christian Isaiah) also discovers just how different the Gallaghers are from the families of his rich classmates as Frank schools him on "sticking it to the man." Kev (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton) have to find a way to deal with Svetlana (Isidora Goreshter) after she steals their bar, The Alibi. New guest stars include Jessica Szohr as Fiona's tenant, Nessa, and Farah Tahir as Frank's new boss, Adeeb. Season eight also welcomes back returning recurring guest stars Elliot Fletcher as Trevor, Ruby Modine as Sierra and Scott Michael Campbell as Brad. Created by Paul Abbott, the series is produced by Bonanza Productions in association with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Shameless is executive produced by John Wells, Nancy M. Pimental, Sheila Callaghan and Krista Vernoff. Shameless premieres November 5 at 9 p.m. followed by SMILF at 10 p.m..
