In spite of coming off in conversation and in public as a practical no-nonsense woman, she has a way of burrowing into that hole so many of us carry inside our souls, and emerging with universal truths that show we aren’t alone after all. Her six albums have received countless accolades Mercy Now (2005) earned her the Americana Music Association’s New/Emerging Artist of the year title and The Foundling (2011) was named the No. 3 Record of the Year by the L.A. Times. Gauthier says “I find the stories I want to tell are the stories of characters who may or may not make it. I believe in redemption.”

JIM LAUDERDALE is a Grammy Award winning and one of the most respected artists working in the bluegrass, country and Americana music communities today. This Nashville “A-list” songwriter has had songs recorded by such artists as , The Dixie Chicks, , who has had many hits with Jim’s songs, and the list goes on. Jim is also a critically acclaimed solo artist with dozens of studio releases, including his latest Carolina Moonrise written with lyricist . Along with Keith Bilbrey he co-hosts a radio program, the popular Music City Roots, the Buddy and Jim Show with on SiriusXM, and the Jim Lauderdale show on WSM radio. The album Buddy and Jim was nominated for Best Americana Album for 2013. Since winning Artist of the Year and Song of the year awards earlier, Jim has been hosting the Americana Music Awards Association show each year. SCOTT MILLER is a feisty, funny / -slinger that manages the family cattle farm in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley that has a prestigious but “ultimately useless” degree in Russian and Soviet Studies from William and Mary. (The Soviet Union collapsed when he graduated –for which he takes no credit.) In 1990 he moved to Knoxville, playing at local bars and clubs where he was quickly recognized for his homespun appeal and secured a regular Saturday night spot which continued to build a loyal legion of fans. The now-defunct bar, Hawkeye’s, had a marquee that read “Scott Miller: Every Damn Friday.” He did some regional touring and became a member of the V-Roys, the first band signed to E-Squared Records, co-owned by songwriting great Steve Earl, who championed the band and used them as his backing group on a European tour. The band eventually dissolved and Scott signed with , recording three albums and a live record with The Commonwealth. In 2009 he began releasing records on his own F.A.Y. Recordings. He met and teamed up with renowned old- fiddler Rayna Gellert. They started putting together an EP, Co-Dependents (2012) to sell at shows. Miller has collaborated with for a project that came out this past fall. Musical peers, including Earl, and , have long praised Miller’s work. It has been said that “Scott Miller tells a story better than most novelists.”

DREW RAMSEY is a Knoxville native, a UT Graduate and a direct descendent of the Ramsey Family. After moving to Nashville he has toured with Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and CeCe Winans. As a session guitarist and singer, he has performed on recordings with Michael McDonald, The Neville Brothers, and Keb Mo to name a few. As a songwriter his songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as .38 Special, John Legend, India.Arie, Jonny Lang, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, The Temptations, and Marc Broussard, garnering him 2 Grammy nominations. Drew has received two Grammy Awards as a producer for his work with Johnny Lang and India.Arie, as well as two Emmy Awards for the song Get There with Robert Randolph for Friday Night Knicks on the Madison Square Garden network, and a Dove Award for writing and producing Nicole Mullen. Beginning in 2008, Drew began working with Bel- mont University’s Curb College of Music Business, to help develop and teach in their Songwriting Depart- ment. Many of Drew’s students have gone on to get publishing deals, sign record deals, and two former stu- dents have appeared on .

MATT WERTZ along with friend and producer Ed Cash recorded Twenty Three Places in 2003. This album featured some of the songs that “set the tone for the rest of my career.” Ed and Matt began working on Everything in Between, in 2005. The albums did well and were charting high in iTunes and led to a video filming of the song Carolina, a song that was used on TV’s Brothers and Sisters and in theaters in movies like My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Matt has sold close to 100,000 albums as an independent artist. He recorded Under Summer Sun on the Universal Republic label, released a 2012 Christmas record Snow Globe on Provident Records and in 2013, Heatwave was released on Handwritten Records. This soulful, creative, singer-songwriter from Liberty, Mo., was raised in a way that encouraged him to explore and dive into whatever grabbed his attention with no expectations other than to do his best “and let God do the rest.” His music career started when he was attending the University of Illinois for visual arts. He started by entertaining dorm mates and moved from there to places “outside the walls” of the university. By then music had become his respite from class work. Matt was recording on his roommate’s computer and burning them for those that were interested. A loan from his parents allowed him to record 1,000 copies of his debut record Somedays (2001). Summer “burst at the seams” with bookings at camps and schools and by next spring it was on to colleges. This pattern repeated for the next few years. The rest, as they say, is history.
