Taxonomic Notes: This species was listed under Hipposideros bicolor, but is now considered distinct following Douangboubpha et al. (2010). Assessment Information

Justification: Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large populations, tolerance of a degree of habitat modification, and because it is unlikely to be declining at nearly the rate of required to qualify for listing in a threatened category. Geographic Range

Range Description: The species is known from peninsular Thailand and Malaysia to Sumatra (Indonesia) and Teratau and Tioman Islands (Malaysia) (Douangboubpha et al. 2010).

Habitat and Ecology (see Appendix for additional information) In Thailand, the species was captured either within limestone caves or in their vicinities or in an area that includes limestone outcrops. The surrounding vegetation varied from seasonal hill evergreen, hill evergreen, moist evergreen, lowland rain evergreen, lowland evergreen, lowland tropical rain, mixed deciduous, mangrove to disturbed forests. It is tolerant of highly disturbed habitat, including cultivations (Douangboubpha et al. 2010).
