A winning wine This is our best-known wine worldwide. Produced from a selection of the best grapes from each of our vineyards, it combines the richness of a Tempranillo and the elegance of a Cabernet Sauvignon with the strength of a Syrah. Dark red colour with a clean, complex and fresh nose. On the palate, it has an intense fruity touch, mainly of red fruits. Aged 19 months in French and American oak barrels, the wood infuses notes of cedar, pastry and dark roasting. It attacks the palate politely but firmly. In 2005, Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2001 received the award at the International Wine Challenge in London as the world's best red wine. This is a very well-balanced wine, harmonious, with a rich bouquet and incredible expressiveness. Worthy fruit of the vine and of a job well done. 2011 Ageing 19 Months in French and American oak barrels Apellation Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León - Sardón de Duero Grape varieties 75% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah Alcoholic degree 15% Vol. Analytical Data Total acidity: 5,1 g/l pH: 3,7 IPT: 68 Description Good depth and deep red in the glass. Hints of ripe black and red fruit (black and morello cherries and plums) combined with a balsamic, spicy bouquet (licorice) and notes of sweet wood. Big, fruity, creamy and lasting in the mouth. Full of body, fronted with tannins that show great personality and are a delight for the palate, accentuating the long finish and persistence of the wine. A wine full of flavour and a very safe bet. The 2011 Vintage After the hottest month of May in recent years, the vines sprouted very early. There were no frosts in spring, so the plants developed faster than in previous years. June was also hot and the growth-cycle continued apace. But one of the coldest months of July in recent memory slowed down the growth of the vine. August and September were however very hot, which allowed the plants to conclude their cycle with excellent ripening. Yields from “Pago la Raya” are naturally low and without any intervention, which contributed to making the ripening more balanced. The harvest of our white wine varieties began on the 12th of September. After the tasting to catalogue the wine of the 2011 vintage, we can confidently affirm this is one of the best vintages in the history of Abadía Retuerta.! Production 1.250 barrels divided into 350.000 bottles, 8.500 magnum and 700 doubles magnum. Storage Storage temperature should not exceed 15ºC. Life It will develop its potential in the bottle during the next years.
