SINGH AND YASIR AYOUB PREFACE Nutrition is the science of foods , the nutrients and other substances therein, their action, interaction and balance in relationship to health and disease ,the processes by which the organism ingests, digests, absorbs, transports and utilize nutrients and disposes of their end products. In addition, it is concerned with social, economic, cultural and psychological implications of food and eating. Nutrition science is the area of knowledge regarding the role of food in the maintenance of health. Nutrients are the constituents in food that must be supplied to the body in suitable amounts. These include carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins and water. Chemical substances obtained from food and used in the body to provide energy, structural materials and regulating agents to support growth, maintenance and repair of the body's tissues, nutrients may also reduce the risks of some degenerative disease. Nutritional status in the condition of health of the individual an inflounced by the utilization of nutrients. It can be determined only by the correlation of information obtained through a careful medical & dietary history, athorough physical examination & appropriate laboratory investigation. India has 2nd largest population in the world after china. So we need largest amount of basic needs to our population. The development of our country is based on the development of ndustrial and agricultural production. The figures in the discipline of nuclear and radiation technology have revolutionized the developments in the field. our unplanned activities for gaining immediate more profit, are creating environmental pollution in different disciplines. All living organisms including man have been exposed to certain types of toxic substances since time immemorial. advances in science & technology have provided mankind with capabilities and know how to produce synthetic chemicals, some of which are highly toxic. Toxic chemicals invariable find their way into the body tissues directly or indirectly through complex food chain & some of these are quite stable or have unusually long half life. further, certain chemicals are neighter fully metabolized nor quickly detoxicated & therefore, create serious problems of residue accumulation increasing use of these chemicals are changing the metabolism activates of human beings. They are creating pollution everywhere in the country. Therefore it is an urgent need to check up the unwanted use of these chemicals and to find out a feasible technology which is environmentally save, socially acceptable, economically viable and poses no risk to agro- ecosystem. Farming system is more or less stable arrangement of farming activities managed by the household. Farming system that are ecologically compatible should not only involve crop production but are also depend upon integration with other enterprises like animal husbandry, horticulture, vegetable production, piggeries, fisheries, apiculture, goatery, poultry, sericulture and agro-forestry. The concept of farming system includes components like soil, water, crops, livestock, labours and other resources available with the farmers' families. The best strategy for economic viability within agriculture system for production of milk and their products, fodders, fuel eggs, fisheries etc. The enterprise flexibilities can be achieved through reduced input cost and increased diversification of activities providing more and more employment opportunities. The development of a country is based on the development of industrial and agricultural production. Few insecticides approved for use in organic production have provided effective management of the beetles. The study reported herein demonstrates the effectiveness of Entrust, a new organic approved formulation of spinosad. Following exposure on eggplant foliage, Entrust was shown to be toxic to adult flea beetles with LC50 and LC95 values of 42.9 and 296.7 ppm, respectively. Although mortality following exposure was sometimes delayed until six days, the effects on flea beetle behavior were observed in as little as six hours following exposure. Feeding was significantly reduced one day after exposure to both the highest recommended field rate and to a 25% concentration of the high rate. Persistence in the field was short. No significant differences in mortality were detected for beetles transferred to treated and water-treated eggplant foliage taken three days after application.

Official measures were taken to eradicate the pest. A. eugenii is present in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, USA and French Polynesia. Imports of fresh Capsicum and Solanum fruit from these regions and countries were identified as the most important pathways for introduction with Capsicum fruit being the most important one. Capsicum fruit has been imported since at least 1988 from countries where the pest is present. The import volume has not increased significantly since about 2000 and the probability of introduction has been assessed as “low” with a high uncertainty.

Some species of Epitrix are major pests of potato, tomato, eggplant, tobacco and other plants in North America and Europe. Therefore, a key for the identification of all Holarctic species is necessary for plant quarantine and protec- tion services. In the field, black nightshade potted plants attracted significantly more Epitrix spp. adults than potato, aubergine, tomato and common lambsquarters. Following this result, headspace samples were collected from non-infested and from E. papa infested plants of potato, aubergine and black nightshade. VOC profiling by GC-MS analysis identified potential attractants which were tested as single compounds or as a mixture in a field experiment (1,3-butanediol, Z3-6:Ac/Linalool (1:1), (E)-β-farnesene and a blank control). Traps baited with Z3-6:Ac/ Linalool (1:1) attracted significantly more E. papa and E. cucumeris adults than the control. To find synergist substances to improve the attractiveness of this mixture, the choice of individual E. papa adults between this mixture alone or combined with several other plant VOCs, was sequentially tested in a Y-tube olfactometer. Adding (E)-β-ocimene to Z3-6:Ac/Linalool (1:3) increased the attractiveness of the mixture.
