5 6 POINT & PENPOLL

THE ROWING & SUP EVENTS PLANNED FOR SUNDAY 30th JUNE HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

The allocation of dates for the village regattas is decided by the ‘Village Committee’ of the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association (PoFSA). For this year we were bottom of the list and thus drew the short straw, being allocated a weekend with a very low tide.

Following consultation with a number of Pilot Gig clubs, and consideration of the access to the pontoon from the quay and the narrow slipway at such a low tide, the Committee has therefore decided to cancel, for this year only, the Rowing and SUP events planned for Sunday 30th June on safety grounds.

We now have agreement through the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association to a change of the criteria for the allocation of dates and this situation should not therefore arise again. We thus apologise for this year’s shortened programme but hope that you will support us on the 6th and 7th of June next year when, with a good tide, we will reinstate the traditional gig, rowing, and SUP events.
