De artistieke erfenis ervan is inmiddels niet meer weg te denken. Kunstenaar Boris Tellegen (1986) ontwierp de beelden, elk ruim 6,5 meter hoog. Ze staan als opvallende totems in het landschap langs deze fietsroute, die beide steden met een rijke creatieve geschiedenis en toekomst verbindt.
