Steering Group Member Profiles and Community Involvement In November 2016, an open public meeting was held at which a number of members of the community volunteered to sit on a Steering Group (SG) for the NDP. Due to family, work and other commitments not all the original members have continued to sit on the SG, but most have continued to contribute to the NDP in other ways. The profiles below of some of the SG and Focus Group members give a “snapshot” of the broad range of skills and experience which is shared within the group. Many of the members also volunteer for other community groups, which are listed at the end of this document. David Hughes, Chair Professional qualifications in Geography and Geology. Worked for English China Clays for 25 years, including overseas and in management. Previously Vice-Chair of Cornwall Council Central Area Planning Committee and representative on the AONB Panel and the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site Panel. Director Par Track Ltd. Trustee for Par Bay Community Trust Tywardreath and Par Parish Councillor Focus Group Co-ordinator: Housing and Development titles David Quoroll, Vice-Chair Professional qualifications in Ecology, Teaching, Sports Coaching and Business Management. Previously Head of Outdoor Learning at Westminster Council. Set up and ran a Charitable Trust which purchased and managed a Local Nature Reserve. Previously involved with Ewhurst NDP. Led on the Biodiversity and Heritage groups. Focus Group Co-ordinator: Environment and Heritage Alison White, Secretary Professional qualifications and background in Business (including 2 small, family businesses) and Teaching/Training. Worked as a teacher and manager in various schools and colleges. At St Austell College specialised in languages, international students and individual needs including the training of Teaching Assistants. Employed as a freelance dyslexia assessor at Truro College and study support tutor for HE students attending universities in Plymouth and Cornwall. Freelance trainer for a range of organisations, both private and public sector. Works full time locally in a public sector organisation Member of Par St Blazey Flood Group Member Par Bech Management Group Interested in walking paths and the natural and local Historic environment Adrian Wildish Tywardreath and Par Parish Councillor John Page Professional background in Engineering technical administration in aviation, gas & oil and civil sectors including at management level around the UK and latterly qualified to teach. Other experience: employed at the Meteorological Office; Countryside Ranger in West Sussex and as a Tutor & Consultant working with the long term unemployed in Cornwall. Par Carnival Committee PL24 Community Association Remake Cornwall: Food collection from supermarkets for community distribution to reduce food waste and landfill.
