    Steering Group Member Profiles and Community Involvement In November 2016, an open public meeting was held at which a number of members of the community volunteered to sit on a Steering Group (SG) for the NDP. Due to family, work and other commitments not all the original members have continued to sit on the SG, but most have continued to contribute to the NDP in other ways. The profiles below of some of the SG and Focus Group members give a “snapshot” of the broad range of skills and experience which is shared within the group. Many of the members also volunteer for other community groups, which are listed at the end of this document. David Hughes, Chair Professional qualifications in Geography and Geology. Worked for English China Clays for 25 years, including overseas and in management. Previously Vice-Chair of Cornwall Council Central Area Planning Committee and representative on the AONB Panel and the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site Panel. Trustee for Par Bay Community Trust Tywardreath and Par Parish Councillor Focus Group Co-ordinator: Housing and Development titles David Quoroll, Vice-Chair Professional qualifications in Ecology, Teaching, Sports Coaching and Business Management. The buildings were designed by the Diocese of Truro’s architect J L Pearson and were built in grounds previously owned by the cathedral and funded by a generous benefactor to provide classrooms and boarding house for Truro Cathedral School. Latterly the property was a boarding house for Truro School before conversion to a handful of exclusive houses and apartments about 10 years ago. No. 7 is located on the first floor of the former coach house in a tucked away and quiet position although it still has the use of the immaculately maintained and rather beautiful communal grounds.

I have always felt that to have a Cornwall Council seat that included Fowey w th Tywardreath was illog cal - they are totally separate commun ties. I think 2 new seats could be made as follows: Take the Fowey parish wards out. Make 1 seat from the 3 wards of Tywardreath and Par Parish Council + St Blazey North ward (estimated at 5439 electors in 2023). Make a 2nd seat from St Blazey South ward + both wards of Carlyon parish + Charlestown ward of St Austell Bay parish (estimated at 4650 electors in 2023). Carlyon Bay is hardly separate from St Blazey, it makes no sense having a dividing line down Par Moor Road. Charlestown has links with St Blazey Gate - they now have the same vicar and the buses from St Blazey go through there. Some adjustment would probably have to be made as to where the line is drawn between the St Blazey parish wards - either ABN2 or 3 might have to be moved into St Blazey South to even up the numbers for each Cornwall Council seat.
