Over 4,000 children under the age of 15 are injured yearly from unsecured windows according to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents; which is why it is equally as important to ensure a window cannot be easily opened from the inside as it is the outside. The lockable window restrictor from MAX6MUM SECURITY has a 20cm long cable, which when installed correctly will limit opening to under 100mm. Not only will this prevent the window from opening too far and a child from falling from it, but it will still allow for free flowing air to circulate around a room. The restrictor can withstand forces over 100kg, which is more than enough to take the weight of any child and is twice the industry standard, exceeding strength requirements set out in EN 16281. Window Locks Also known as a sash jammer, window locks are an easy to fit and an affordable window security measure. By levering the door or sash leaf of a window and creating a gap, burglars are able to access a windows lock. But, by installing a window lock, with just a twist of the locks handle you are adding resistance, deterring forced entry. Window locks come with either a white or brown finish and with 1mm and 2mm packers. Each pack can be fitted to either uPVC doors or windows. They are very simple to install, coming with step by step instructions. 0161 796 7268 [email protected] September 2016 UAP Magazine 5 High Security Door Chains We have a selection of MAX6MUM SECURITY Unlike other door chains which can break when exposed door security products available, including to the slightest force, extra strong sliding door chains sliding door chains and Secured by Design from MAX6 are made entirely of steel and each link has approved narrow door chains. been individually welded for additional strength. It’s this innovative design that makes these door chains able to withstand over 100Kg of breaking force. Self Adhesive Front Door Numbers and Letters A good door number is essential to make a home identifiable. MAX6 numbers and letters are 3 inches in height and come in a classic and clear to read, Times Roman font. They are fitted using extra-strong, industrial closed cell foam tape which leaves no marking on the door – often caused by screws. Having a door number is essential to the safety of a home owner and their family as it allows emergency services to find them quickly and efficiently if needed. MAX6 products are value for money and available in silver (mirror polished stainless steel) and polished gold to compliment any door. 6 UAP Magazine September 2016 0161 796 7268 [email protected] Self Adhesive Door Knockers Available in self-adhesive, MAX6 door knockers are easy to fit and look great on any door, removing the unsightly fixings found on the inside of doors with bolt through knockers. Self-adhesive knockers are designed for durability and easy fitting. They feature our patented hidden fix technology, which eliminates the need to drill holes through a door and the use of unsightly bolts. The self-adhesive is ultra-strong, industrial closed cell foam; which once set is nearly impossible to pull off the door. The self-adhesive ‘lollipop’ attaches to the door with 2 small screws to ensure a more secure fit. The knocker then simply fits onto the ‘lollipop’ and after being left for 24 hours to set will be stationary and extremely difficult to remove. Secured by Design Door Viewers Our 38-63mm viewers, designed to be fitted to wooden and composite doors, are Secured by Design approved and help ensure a door is further protected from bogus callers and door step crime. These viewers conform to DHF TS002:2009 standards, which covers; visual clarity, resistance to misting up, ability to clear, length adjustment range and marking. Each viewer comes with a free privacy cover and also a unique fitting tool which makes it very easy to install! The viewers are also designed to be fitted through the MAX6 door knockers. 0161 796 7268 [email protected] September 2016 UAP Magazine 7 High Security Kitemarked Euro Cylinders y Se b an The MAX6 cylinder is perfect for anyone wanting d W to upgrade their home security, easily and e affordably. CONVENIENT FICTIONS: THE SCRIPT OF LESBIAN DESIRE IN THE POST-ELLEN ERA. A NEW ZEALAND PERSPECTIVE By Alison Julie Hopkins A thesis submitted to Victoria University of Wellington in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Victoria University of Wellington 2009 Acknowledgements I would like to acknowledge those people who have supported me in my endeavour to complete this thesis. In particular, I would like to thank Dr Alison Laurie and Dr Lesley Hall, for their guidance and expertise, and Dr Tony Schirato for his insights, all of which were instrumental in the completion of my study. I would also like to express my gratitude to all of those people who participated in the research, in particular Mark Pope, facilitator of the ‘School’s Out’ programme, the staff at LAGANZ, and the staff at the photographic archive of The Alexander Turnbull Library. I would also like to acknowledge the support of The Chief Censor, Bill Hastings, and The Office of Film and Literature Classification, throughout this study. Finally, I would like to thank my most ardent supporters, Virginia, Darcy, and Mo. ii Abstract Little has been published about the ascending trajectory of lesbian characters in prime-time television texts. Rarer still are analyses of lesbian fictions on New Zealand television. This study offers a robust and critical interrogation of Sapphic expression found in the New Zealand television landscape. More specifically, this thesis analyses fictional lesbian representation found in New Zealand’s prime-time, free-to-air television environment. It argues that television’s script of lesbian desire is more about illusion than inclusion, and that lesbian representation is a misnomer, both qualitatively and quantitively.
