However, councillors are elected and paid to represent and protect the community. Considering the growing research being carried out in fluoridated countries showing harm to health, and the increased pressures on council finances, we propose that Council take a serious interest in the health of the community and stop fluoridation. We can't afford this increase 2. We understand based on toilet numbers, but a single toilet in a studio is used less than a toilet in a 3 bedroom house. 3. This property is already losing massive money; this will kill the whole investment. No Response 5 Rainer Eschenbruch Topic Issue Sub Issue Our city wastewater wetlands The other option It seems to me of the utmost importance to get the wetland project soon expedited . It is very difficult to believe that we let insufficiently cleaned human waste water run into the sea , a place for recreation and enjoyment. No Response General feedback about out 4 waters general feedback on Wastewater A strict time plan has to be in place to continuously replacing old water and waste pipes . This safes costs . No Response Strategic Planning general feedback on anything bylaws excluding trade waste and summer camping Proper Camping Bylaws are very necessary . It is bewildering to learn , that holiday makers leave their rubbish behind . One wonders how they live in their own homes , what consideration they have for their fellow human beings or their environment . No Response Our township plans Submitter has not indicated any option but has added a comment It is vital to keep rural areas connected to the town . We can't all live in town . It also contributes to community spirit . The incredible increase of logging trucks on our city roads is very disturbing , to say the least . A clearly directed traffic flow should be organised not inside the city ,but rather to places outside the city . This would reduce speed in town . Or introduce traffic free zones , we see very successful in overseas cities and towns . Don't wait for others to show us , be progressive , have foresight ! All this clearly contributes to reducing road fatalities . And the community will breathe a sigh of relief . No Response General feedback about out 4 waters general feedback around our flood control Proper stop banks along our rivers can only be taken as wise protection from unexpected flooding , as we experience in many places around the world . No Response 6 Oliver, Geraldine Dawn Topic Issue Sub Issue Our city wastewater wetlands The other option Bring the wastewater wetland project forward. (Should have happened yesterday) No Response Improving our biodiversity The other option Invest more in biodiversity projects like the Taruheru riverbank - and put the long overdue cycleway/walkway along there while you're at it. No Response Protecting our region from flood submitter prefers something else Borrow more and future proof the stopbanks - NSW clearly demonstrates what's happening with Climate Change. No Response Maintaining our roads Council's preferred option The roads are doing ok. No change there. Why don't you do a few joint ventures with friends like the Womens' Native Tree Project Trust? No Response 7 Scragg, Fiona Louise Topic Issue Sub Issue Other Consultations feedback recieved about the Speed Management early engagement I disagree with changes to speed limits within the district. I am concerned about the varying speed limit changes on the outskirts of the city and in the CBD. Currently I live at Makaraka and endure 4 different speed zones within 1-2km of my home. Often drivers don't see that the zones have changed and drive at the wrong speed anyway. whose going to police all these changes? It will increase driving times for people travelling to and from work especially those travelling out to rural areas. If a person was travelling from Wainui to a rural area in Poverty Bay flats to work they would be navigating at least 8 to 10 different speed zones. The slower speed limits will also cause more delays for those living on side roads and merge into traffic on major roads. Some mornings this already has a 5-10 minute wait at Makaraka. there will be less gaps to safely turn onto the road. The 30km proposed speed limit in CBD is ridiculous. its already down to one narrow lane and having to wait for cars exiting car parks already intentionally slows the traffic and blocks the road. a change will add to frustrations and cause drivers to take risks that they would not have in the past. If traffic is going to just crawl just close off the CBD like Napier would be a better option. Its more rules, more regulations, more fines. why not have a few more traffic lights and concentrate on the intersections that cause people to take risks eg Lytton west /Potae Ave, Stout St/ Wi Pere street, Aberdeen road /Roebuck road.
