We would like to thank all of our dedicated officials, committee chairs and volunteers who have committed their time to making Skate St. Moritz a success. MORITZ SPECIAL AWARDS JEAN ROBINSON MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented in memory of Jean Robinson, honorary St. Moritz ISC member, past president and ISU World judge. Awarded to the winner of the Senior Ladies' Free Skating event. BONNICKSON/DAVENPORT MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented in memory of Margaret Bonnickson, judge, and Frank Davenport, coach, both longtime and honorary members of the St. Moritz ISC as well as dedicated ice dancers. Awarded to the winners of the Partnered Dance event in the highest-level competition dance event with more than one entrant. MARCELLA WILLIS MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented in memory of Marcella Mae Willis, honorary St. Moritz ISC member, ISU & Olympic judge, and past U.S. Figure Skating dance medalist. Awarded to the winner of the Solo or Pro-Am Dance in the highest-level competition dance event with more than one entrant. If there are Solo or Pro-Am Dances at the same level and these are the highest dance events, the host club will determine which event will be awarded this trophy. IAN KNIGHT MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented in memory of Ian Knight, St. Moritz member and PSA instructor/choreographer. Awarded for excellence in presentation/choreography as demonstrated through the program components in the Junior Men or Ladies Free Skate events, well-balanced free skate (long program) segment. Skaters with the highest combined performance/execution, choreography and interpretation components will be considered with final determination made by the judging panel or a designated special panel. SUSAN WISE MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented in memory of Susan Wise, St. Moritz member and PSA instructor/choreographer. Awarded for excellence in artistry and choreography as demonstrated through the program components in the Pre- Juvenile Boys or Girls Free Skating events. Skaters with the highest combined performance/execution, choreography/interpretation components will be considered with final determination made by the judging panel or a designated special panel.. GEORGE YONEKURA VOLUNTEER AWARD St. Moritz Ice Skating Club member, George Yonekura, was a dedicated volunteer for figure skating who played an active role in the Bay Area as an advocate for skaters of all levels and as a leader in event organization. He spent time on the Club’s board of directors and as its president. George was a judge and referee for our sport. He was a member of many U.S. Figure Skating committees and served as U.S. Figure Skating President from 1983 – 1986. George’s dedication to the sport of figure skating was an inspiration to all who knew and worked with him. To honor his memory, the St. Moritz Ice Skating Club created the George Yonekura Volunteer Award, which is presented annually to a club member who exemplifies his spirit of volunteerism within our sport.     San Diego Figure Skating Club Presents Saturday, June 25, 2016 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sarah Kawahara is a Canadian born director/choreographer well known for her television and touring show productions. She won her first Emmy (television award) for Best Choreography for CBS special “Scott Hamilton: Upside Down”. She also won the American Choreography Award for Outstanding Achievement in Television Variety or Special and won her second Emmy for Best Choreography; both for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. At age 17, she joined Ice Capades as a principal and toured for seven years. She began her choreography career with Peggy Fleming, creating “ICE” for Radio City Music Hall/Shipstad Productions. She continued to choreograph Scott Hamilton’s numbers until he retired. The Ice Dance competition starts with the Compulsory Dance, which all entered couples have to skate, the best 30 placed couples will continue the event with the Original Dance and at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships the best 12 placed couples qualify for the final Free Dance GENERAL RULES ISU Championships are held in accordance with the International Skating Union (ISU) Regulations. The ISU Judging System used at the Figure Skating events is the one adopted by the 2004 ISU Congress. It is constructed as follows: 1. COMPETITIONS OFFICIALS Technical Panel The Technical Panel is composed of the Technical Controller, the Technical Specialist and the Assistant Technical Specialist, each one from different ISU Members (countries).
