TECHNICAL OVERVIEW

The key domestic benchmark indices ended the higher on Monday. The broader NSE index grew 0.59% or 45.85 points to close at 7860.75. On daily charts, Nifty made a bullish candle which carries a long lower shadow, highlighting the emergence of supportive buying near its erstwhile support zone of 7730­7750. Meanwhile, the index is still trading in the trading range of 150 points (7750­7900), decisive breakout on either side will decide the next move of the market. Further, the index is still trading above the bullish breakaway gap of 15 points (7739­7754) opened on 09th May, suggesting that medium term bias is still positive. In the coming session, weakness and close below 7700 level, the index can retest its major support zone of 7500 level. At the same time, if index managed to break and sustain above 8000 level then it will rally up 8250 levels. Suggested trading strategy would be to Sell if market resists at 7890 and Buy if it attains support at 7830.

Consolidated total income from operations stood at Rs.1,001.98 crore for the quarter under review.

Piramal Enterprises Ltd reported a consolidated net profit of Rs.180.24 crore for the March quarter as 500302 1,271.8 against a net profit of Rs.95.40 crore for the January­March period of 2014­15. Company’s consolidated total income from operations rose to Rs.1,733.51 crore as against Rs.1,297.50 crore a year ago.

INDUSTRY NEWS

Opposing the mandatory disclosure of commissions paid by mutual funds (MFs) to distributors, agents selling such financial products have requested regulator SEBI to scrap the directive saying it would be detrimental to the growth of the industry, as per media reports. For greater transparency in dealings of mutual funds, SEBI had asked MF houses to disclose to investors the commissions paid to their distributors from October in the consolidated account statement (CAS) sent to investors.

Bandhan Bank sold Rs.3,200 crore worth of priority sector loans to its private sector rivals to help them meet their lending targets including banks such as HDFC Bank, YES bank and IDBI bank, in the last quarter through an instrument called inter­bank participation certificates.

ECONOMY NEWS

Displaying confidence in GST Bill passages during the upcoming monsoon session, Arun Jaitley said that regional parties, including UPA allies like DMK and NCP, are all in support of the tax legislation. If there is no consensus, the only alternative is a parliamentary vote, he added, as per media reports.
