ISSN: 2454-132X Impact factor: 4.295 (Volume 4, Issue 1) Available online at www.ijariit.com The Four Asian Dragon's Significance in World Economic Development Nikhil Bhatia Ishan Gupta [email protected] [email protected] Christ University, Bangalore, Karnataka Christ University, Bangalore, Karnataka ABSTRACT This paper analyses the contribution of four Asian Dragons towards International Economic System from 1965-2017 and reveals insight into related trends and patterns. The paper shows how four Asian dragons (Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and Hong Kong) have grown since Independence to Industrialisation. Lastly, reasons for their slowing growth. This study is divided into four parts. Firstly, the growth pattern of GDP and Exports in these countries. Secondly, factors leading to this growth. Thirdly, how Industrialisation of four dragons helped world economy during currency fluctuations and recession. Fourthly, reasons for declining growth of these nations. The study discusses the challenges facing four Dragon’s sharply declining growth rate and proposes policy approaches that might help boost the country’s growth in the future. INTRODUCTION Four Asian Dragons The countries that come under are Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan, they had gone through rapid industrialisation and had high growth rate i.e. more than 7 percent a year between the 1960s and 1990s. By the 21st century, all the countries had developed into an advanced and high-income nation, industrialised and developed countries specialising in the areas of competitive advantage. -

The Ahn Changho Controversy: Rescuing a Patriot from Colonial and Postcolonial Myths The “Ahn Changho Controversy” was sparked by new documentary evidence which challenged the earlier conventional views concerning the preeminent Korean nationalist leader, Ahn Changho (1878-1938). The Controversy arose from the historical mystery and enigma which long surrounded Ahn Changho, who was a leader of the transnational independence movement during the Japanese colonial rule, 1905-45. As one of the most spirited and enduring controversies in Korean Studies over the past decades since the 1990s, the Ahn Changho Controversy revealed theoretical divisions or ideological cleavages in the interpretations and re-interpretations of Korean colonial history: 1) gradualist pacifism vs. radical militarism; 2) a new view of “revolutionary-democracy” vs. the old view of “tripartite division” of Korean nationalist movement; 3) revisionism of “cultural nationalism” vs. neo-revisionism of revolutionary nationalism; 4) patriotism vs. collaborationism in the colonial period and the complicated legacy of the issue thereafter; and 5) the origins of Korean democracy, including the origin and drafter of the Korean republican constitution. In this regard, the Ahn Changho Controversy touched upon the highly complex and potentially explosive issues of patriotism vs. collaboration by probing into the previous revisionist binaries arising from the reductive matrix of the bipolar Cold War alignments. -

By using his smart tactics, Hitler persuaded the people of Germany, when all were lost from the hope of having any success from World War I and the great depression. Hitler created a political party called the Nazi party. This party was originally known as the National German Workers Party (Barrett). He created the design for the flags and banners which had an ancient symbol on it called the swastika. Soon enough he became appointed chancellor and then he became known as Führer, a dictatorial leader after Chancellor Hindenburg died. Hitler gave Germany confidence and lifted their spirits up. He gave jobs to the jobless and built up the economy by introducing the Autobahn, Volkswagen and the People Radio (Bartoletti). Unfortunately, he had an insidious plan. His plan was to practically brainwash the people, racially cleans Germany, and start a war which was later known as World War II. He did this because he was power hungry and wanted to rule over the world. Adolf Hitler was one of the most egregious leaders of the 20th century who is best known for his tragic actions during World War II. He began his leadership triumphantly by helping Germany grow economically (Barrett). He was best known for all of his destructive actions during World War II and for all the deaths that this man caused, and the families destroyed. Adolf Hitler was born on August 20, 1889, in Austria. -

Unit 4 Lesson 4: The Battle of Britain: A Document Analysis The Battle of Britain was a key turning point in the early part of the Second World War. If Britain failed to hold, Nazi Germany would have controlled all of Europe and there would be not have been a safe place for the Allied armies to launch their offensive on Western Europe in 1944. It is because of the importance of this key point in World War II that you will be conducting a document analysis to determine why the British were able to hold back the German aerial attack thus thwarting the planned invasion of Britain. The Question: At the end of the Battle of Britain, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, in one of his famous speeches, declared that, “The gratitude of every home in our island, in our Empire, and indeed throughout the world, except in the abodes of the guilty, goes out to the British airmen who, undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger, are turning the tide of the World War by their prowess and by their devotion. Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” The “few” was the name given to the Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots who fought against the German Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain. Using the background information and the following thirteen documents explain whether you believe Churchill’s statement was an accurate analysis of the defeat of Germany during the Battle of Britain. The Korean Independence Movement A Movement Unfulfilled A IV Dan Thesis by Jonathan Kirk Lusty A Pattern in the Taekwon-Do Patterns “At the age of twelve1, [Choi Hong Hi] was expelled from school for agitating against the Japanese authorities who were in control of Korea. This was the beginning of what would be a long association with the Kwang Ju Students’ Independence Movement . With the outbreak of World War II, [he] was forced to enlist with the Japanese army through no volition of his own. While at his post in Pyongyang, North Korea, [he] was implicated as the planner of the Korean Independence Movement known as the Pyongyang Student Soldiers’ Movement, and interned at a Japanese prison . .”2 These two quotes, though brief, demonstrate the powerful patriotism which motivated General and Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi even through his youth—a dedication to work for his nation’s independence. Despite the threat of state-sanctioned torture, hard labor, and even death, he was a steadfast partisan of the larger Korean Independence Movement. Little wonder then that, of the twenty-five patterns which the Yom-Chi Taekwon-Do Association practices (consisting of the twenty-four traditional Chang-Hon style patterns, in addition to the “revered” pattern Ko-Dang originally taught by General and Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi), four make explicit reference to the Korean Independence Movement in their pattern histories, and three make implicit reference to it. The third Chang-Hon pattern, Do-San, is the first pattern to make this explicit reference. In the Yom-Chi Taekwon-Do Association Gup Handbook (page 29), the history is given thusly: “Do-San is the pseudonym of the patriot Ahn Chang-Ho (1876-1938). -
