We advise you to take a little tour around emperor Diocletian’s old town before the start of your cruising tour as this is something you should not miss while being in Split . After introducing with the crew and the boat, you will sail out to Trogir which will take about 2h of navigation. You will spend the night on anchor and dinner will be served on board. In the evening you can visit the town of Trogir. Trogir is one of the pearls of the Adriatic. This beautiful ancient town under UNECO protection, is situated on a small island. This island is on both sides – land and sea one – connected by bridges. So, besides being connected with the mainland, Trogir is also connected with the small island Čiovo. While entering the old town and walking through the narrow streets of Trogir you will feel history all around you. All the buildings in Trogir’s old center are a mixture of different art styles, mainly Renaissance and Baroque ones. The bell tower of the Cathedral of St. Lawrence built in 13th century offers a stunning view. WHAT TO SEE IN TROGIR: ✓ Cathedral ✓ Chipico palace ✓ Kamerlengo kastil ✓ Benedictine monastery WHERE TO EAT: Vanjaka Don Dino Bocel After breakfast you will sail out to Skradin. This small but romantic town is located on river Krka and at the entrance of Krka National Park. You will be amazed while sailing through the canyon of Krka, as this is for sure a beautiful experience. While arriving to Skradin you will be welcomed by beautiful swans swimming all around your boat. From Skradin you can go visit Krka National Park. This park is known for a large number of lakes and a series of 7 waterfalls. The most interesting ones are Skradinski Buk and Roški slap. During the summer you can swim in crystal clear waters of the Krka river. You can also visit traditional watermills and Franciscan monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, located on the small island Visovac. Or you can just relax and soak up beautiful nature all around you. WHAT TO SEE IN ŠIBENIK: ✓ Cathedral of St. James ✓ St. Michael's Fortress ✓ Four Wells Square ✓ Canal of Saint Anthony In the evening you will go to Šibenik. This beautiful town is known as the oldest native Croatian town and here you can find even two monuments that are on the UNESCO World Heritage list: Cathedral of St. James and St. Nicholas fort. Cathedral is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture and it is famous for its 71 unknown human portrait sculptures that surround outside walls. Šibenik is full of history: you can feel it everywhere around you and there are so many monuments and locations to be seen. After visiting all the cultural sites, if you find enough time we suggest you to go and enjoy a peaceful walk and breath-taking view on the walking trail in St. Anthony’s Channel. WHERE TO EAT: ✓ Pelegrini ✓ Nostalgija ✓ Tinel After breakfast you will sail out to the National Park Kornati (4h navigation). Kornati Islands are known as nautical paradise, as they provide breath-taking experience while sailing through the archipelago of 89 islands, islets and reefs. Dry stone walls and barren vegetation are mute witnesses of time that passed long time ago, when people were still connected with nature and lived from the hard work on land. Stunning combination of grey stone and crystal-clear blue waters is something that best defines this natural wonder. Although, at your first glance it may appear rocky and very desolate, this natural complex is also full of surprises and animal life activities. This all is why, Kornati are for sure an unforgettable experience. If the weather serves you well, you should also visit cliffs on the outer island chain of Kornati archipelago. Night will be spent in the beautiful untouched nature of some hidden bay. After breakfast, you will sail a little bit more to the north and spend lunch in another beautiful bay. After breakfast you will sail out and the captain will find another beautiful bay for you to swim, sunbathe, relax and enjoy the morning. After lunch and two hours of navigation, you will sail to the island Murter. People from Murter are traditionally connected with the Kornati islands as they are in majority owners of land on these islands. Today most of the population of Murter lives from tourism. Beautiful beaches and nature provide a great place to escape from everyday hustle and bustle. But even today, though they don’t spend as much time working on lands as they did in the past, residents of Murter are known to produce excellent olive oil. We suggest you just to relax on Murter and feel this island in its fullness: enjoy long walks in untouched nature and swim and sunbathe on beautiful beaches (Slanica beach, Podvrske beach, Cigrada beach and Kosirina beach). Murter is also known for beautiful coves that are hidden from the eyes of most of the tourists. So, if you are enthusiastic enough you can try to find your own private beautiful beach and enjoy beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Muter also has few old churches that history lovers can visit. You can also visit old Roman archaeological site Colentum. After a usual morning of relaxation in some beautiful bay (and lunch) you will sail out to Rogoznica, a small town famous for its marina. It is known as one of the most protected ports in this part of the Adriatic because it is located in a deep bay sheltered from the winds. Rogoznica is located on a peninsula that was a long time ago a WHERE TO EAT: small island. And this is the thing that makes this town so special – mixture of old and new, beautiful nature and marina infrastructure. Rogoznica is also known for its beautiful beaches. After a long walk by the sea and in the beautiful pine woods we suggest you visit Lake Dragon’s eye, a natural phenomenon located next to Marina Frapa. This lake, filled with salt water, is considered to be a natural bioreactor. Just as it is usual these days, after breakfast you will drive a little bit more and find some beautiful bay on island Šolta where you'll sunbath and relax. Lunch will be served in nature, surrounded by a song of crickets and crystal blue waters and you will feel as if you have your own private peace of heaven on Earth. You will spend your late afternoon and night anchored next to the small village of Nečujam on island Šolta. In the evening you will have free time to visit town and have dinner on land. Nečujam is a nice little town, the youngest one on the island Šolta. The town grew together with the apartment complex that was built there in the 1980s. The location was perfect as here you can find a series of eight most beautiful bays on the island. One of them, Piškera bay, was named after Latin word for fish as this bay was a private fishing pond of Roman emperor ocletian.

VII (2014), pp. 413-433 ORNELLA ALBOLINO THE TOURISM IN CROATIA: POLITICS, PROJECTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY Abstract - The paper aims to consider the development and evolution of the tourism in Croatia and its economic and social impact. Croatia can be considered an interesting case study dealing with the relationship between tourism and sustainable development. In particular a special focus on local specificities seems to be present in policy planning and project implementation. Even if seaside tourism is prevailing, initiatives towards sustainability are concentrated on environmental, rural and cultural tourism. The Country is characterized by wide variety and rich cultural heritage and tourism development is one of the most Croatian important economic activity. Now there are many institutional documents for a sustainable tourism development but those plans are not followed by appropriate implementation instruments. Actually a coordinated and integrated sustainable tourism planning at national scale is absent. At local level, counties and Tourist offices show instead great attention to sustainability, creating projects for the development of rural and insular tourism. A particular example is the County of Istria: it is not characterized by seasonal tourism and it is able to promote an integrated tourism development. Regions and types of tourism - This paper (*) is meant to analyze the development and evolution of the tourist sector in Croatia, also with reference to the latest policy planning concerning environmental sustainability. Croatia can be considered an interesting case study on the relationship between tourism and sustainable development.

Swim, snorkel, sunbathe, and explore the underworld of the Adriatic Sea during the day -- later in the afternoon and evening, discover the richly diverse historical and geographical landmarks. We depart from Split harbor and have lunch en route followed by an afternoon swim in a quiet bay. Overnight in Rogoznica or Primošten, small towns with restaurants offering good food, wine too. SUNDAY: Rogoznica/Primosten ► Šibenik ► Krka Waterfalls (Zlarin) (B,L) Early departure for Šibenik. Unlike many other Adriatic cities, Šibenik was not founded by ancient Romans, but was established in the10th century under the Croatian King Petar Kresimir IV, who built a strong maritime fleet that ruled the Adriatic for a time. St. James’s Cathedral, a unique example of church architecture built in stone and no other structural materials should be the first on your sightseeing list. The cathedral is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site (photo above). And the Castle above the town is worth visiting for itself, but it also offers a wonderful view of the city and Kornati Ils.
