Our God is Enough to Satisfy the Thirsty Soul Lessons from Psalm 62 and 63 Sessions One and Two I. The Satisfied Soul Pursues an Unshakable Trust in God (Psalm 62) Trust is placing confidence, reliance, and/or belief in a person or object. Psalm 62 A. The Cultivation of an Unshakable Trust in God 1 My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. 1. It Must be Pursued Personally (vv. 1, 5) 2 He only is my rock and my My soul salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. 3 How long will you assail a man, 2. Psalm 37:3) In the balances they go up; Trust in Him at all times, O people They are together lighter than breath. 10 Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; 5. It Must be Pursued Passionately (v. 8) If riches increase, do not set Pour out your heart before Him your heart upon them. 11 Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; 12 And lovingkindness is Yours, B. The Motivation for an Unshakable Trust in God O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work. 1. The Hope God Provides (v.5; Cf. 1 Peter 1:13; Lamentations 3:21ff) For my hope is from Him “Hope is a firm and solid expectation of that which will surely come to pass in eternity. True hope stems from the unshakable confidence that God is absolutely faithful to His promises, and therefore all those promises are as sure and certain as God Himself. The Character God Possesses (Cf. Psalm 9:10) a.
