Secondary Competition Results 2018 –19 KS3 boys badminton EAST SHROPSHIRE PE & SCHOOL SPORTS BES hosted this event on 8th January with the competition as close and fierce as usual. PARTNERSHIP IDS WBS BES OWS Overall results were as follows: @EastShropSS IDS boys along with WBS KS3 girls, and KS4 boys/girls then represented East Shropshire INSIDE THIS in the School Games finals at the end of January with finishing a very respectable 1st ISSUE: (KS4 boys), 2nd (KS4 girls), 3rd (KS3 girls) and 4th (KS3 boys) Partnership JAN — F E B 2 0 2 0 Boccia/ 1 The KS4 Girls Badminton team from WBS that finished Sportshall Ath- U13 Boys/Girls Handball runners up in the County finals (right) letics William 2/3 Increase no. teams at KS2 Boccia tournament! OWS hosted both events on 14th and 21st January. The standard of play was very high in both competitions Final places were Brookes as follows: Idsall School once again hosted the KS2 Boccia competition on Monday 13th January 2020. In total Idsall 4 U13 Boys Handball OWS IDS BES 21 teams (65pupils) from 10 different partner primary schools took part in the event. Boccia is an attack and defend ball game, originally designed for U13 Girls Handball IDS BES OWS Bridgnorth 5 people with disabilities to play. It is played by two sides Y8 Sportshall Athletics Endowed competing over a set number of ends, like bowls. A record 26 teams from 13 different partner schools with a total of 174 pupils took part in the Key Y8 boys rugby OWS BES IDS Action from the U13 boys and girls handball (above and below) Stage 2 Sportshall Athletics tournament at William Brookes School on Monday 27th January. The event was officiated by trained sports leaders from WBS who performed their roles extremely well in testing conditions. The standard of performance on show was also very high in both track and field events leading to a very close finish for the overall team places with everyone demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and respect. Winners of the girls competition was Shifnal with St Johns 2nd and Castlefields 3rd Castlefields school took the boys title with St Leonards 2nd and Highley 3rd. Both winning teams will now go forward to represent East Shropshire at the Winter School Games finals Shrewsbury Sports Village on 3rd March. LEADERSHIP The YCA met on 27th January William Brookes School with the aim of planning Another busy half term, not only for our partner primary schools but also for WBS sports leaders as the ESSP ‘Girls Active’ event at Lilleshall Hall National Sports Centre on 14th we hosted 4 events in 4 weeks using different leaders for each event to ensure minimum May. The festival is aimed at those children who do not KS2 Sportsability Sportshall Athletics competition! normally represent their school in sport or perhaps lack confidence in 5 schools entered a boys and girls team into the Sportsability Sportshall at Idsall School on social situations. Primary events in Feb/March/April: KS2 Tag Rugby tournament—Tuesday 25th Feb 1.00pm—4.00pm at BRFC (Swancote) 125 children took part and at the end the 27 leaders involved presented individual certificates to KS2 Girls Football Tournament—Friday 28th Feb 1.30pm—3.30pm at BES children who had demonstrated the Olympic values of Determination, Courage, Inspiration and Y3/4 football—Monday 2nd March 2.00pm—4.30pm at OWS Excellence. St Johns won the Spirit of the Games team award for Passion. KS2 Winter School Games finals Tuesday 3rd March —Shrewsbury Sports Village 9.00am—4.00pm ESSP SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS 27th Jan IDS family Girls Football Thursdays 5th, 12th, (Y3- 6) 3.30—5.00pm William Brookes family Football League—Tuesdays 10th, 17th, 24th 4.00pm—5.00pm This year saw 13 schools enter the Sportshall athletics, which is the most we have had. SGCO Annie KS2 Dodgeball Tournament—Thursday 19th March, 1.00pm—4.00pm BES Smith was delighted to see teams from Barrow, Much Wenlock and Broseley enter this year IDS family boxing festival—Brightstars boxing club—Thursday 26th March 10.00am—3.00pm representing our WBS ‘family’. With 196 children participating in both track and field events Bridgnorth schools Y3 striking and fielding festival—Monday 30th March 2.00pm—4.00pm OWS organiser SGO Chris Jew and the 27 leaders had their work cut out to ensure everything ran to time KS2 Partnership Swimming Gala—Monday 30th March 1.00—3.30pm at WBS and no children missed their event. Thanks to their training with SGCo Kerry Humphreys all the KS1 Multi-Skills Festival Thursday 2nd April 1.00pm—3.30pm at Albrighton Primary School leaders were confident in their ability to officiate their event and the PE apprentices did a great job Cressage Cup—Friday 3rd April, 9.30am—1.00pm at Broseley Primary with results. Competition was fierce on the track and there were some outstanding results in field Secondary events in Feb/March/April: events but everyone took part in the spirit of good sportsmanship with Highley taking the team Y8—10 Girls Rugby taster—4.30pm—5.45pm BRFC (Severn Park) award for the School Games Value of Passion.
