I could not recommend her more highly. 24/05/2016 I met Chantelle when I was working as Ballet Mistress for Ballet Theatre UK (BTUK) and guest teacher for the school. She took part in the BTUK summer workshop, joined the school as a professional student then later joined the cast of Midland Theatre Ballet as a leading dancer. I have also been coaching Chantelle on a regular basis, during which time, I have developed an enormous respect and fondness for her. Not only does she have all the natural ability and talent of a classical dancer (body type, musicality, technique, artistry etc) but her professional attitude and dedication is to be commended. Rarely have I come across such a mature approach from someone so young. It is easy to write a positive reference for Chantelle. She goes the extra mile, works that extra bit harder, is enormously capable and motivated, is a kind considerate and helpful individual, as such, she would be a huge asset to any ballet company. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you need anything further from me. Kind Regards, Tania Matos (including Portuguese National Ballet, Wienner Ballet Theatre, Ballet Contemporaneo de Caracas) 45 RUSSETT CLOSE, BARWELL, LEICESTERSHIRE, LE9 8HZ 21st May 2016 To whom it may concern. Re: Chantelle Meyers I had the pleasure of being one of Chantelle Meyers’ classical ballet teachers at Newcastle Ballet Theatre, New South Wales Australia, prior to her family’s move to the UK in 2014. I found Chantelle to be a hard-working and extremely dedicated student who showed enormous potential in reaching her goal to become a professional ballet dancers. She was always a delight to have in my classes. My very best wishes go out to her in attaining that goal. Kind Regards, Margaret Akerman ARAD Solo Seal. (Australian Ballet, 1962-1965. • How Cuba Produces Some of the Best Ballet Dancers in the World by Noël Duan December 14, 2015 9:01 PM
http://news.yahoo.com/how-cuba-produces-some-of-the-best-ballet-dancers-020100947.html How Cuba Produces Some of the Best Ballet Dancers in the World By Noël Duan December 14, 2015 9:01 PM Recent graduates of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba School performing at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana in February 2015. (Photo: Getty Images) This story is part of a weeklong Yahoo series marking one year since the opening of relations between the United States and Cuba. Cuba is well known for many forms of dance, from the mambo and the tango to salsa, the cha- cha and the rumba. But only ballet enthusiasts know that the dance form is one of the country’s biggest cultural exports. In Cuba, ballet is just as popular as baseball, a sport where players from the Cuban national team regularly defect to the major leagues in the United States. Unlike in the United States, where ballet is generally considered highbrow art and Misty Copeland is the only ballerina with a household name, the Cuban government funds ballet training and subsidizes tickets to ballet performances. “Taxi drivers know who the principal dancers are,” Lester Tomé, a dance professor at Smith College and former dance critic in Cuba and Chile, tells Yahoo Beauty. Like Cuban baseball players, Cuban ballet dancers have made international marks around the world, from Xiomara Reyes, the recently retired principal dancer at New York City’s American Ballet Theatre to London’s English National Ballet ballet master Loipa Araújo, regarded as one of the “four jewels of Cuban ballet.” In September 2005, Erika Kinetz wrote in the New York Times that “training, especially Cuban training, has been a key driver of the Latinization of ballet,” an important note, considering that European ballet companies dominated the dance world for decades.
