Music Director of the Peter Sullivan Big Band – performed at many major private, and corporate events and backing major international performers including Wayne Newton, Michael Crawford, Petula Clark, Kathryn Grayson, Chubby Checker, Barry Humphries, Paul Hogan, Kenny Rogers and in 1988 played at a reception during the visit of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1988. Conductor – of all types of ensembles for films TV, big band, the Classical Experience Orchestra at The Crown Showroom The following film and television credits were also listed: TELEVISION CREDITS – Composer, arranger, conductor: Man From Snowy River (3 series), Hinch, House Rules, The Magistrate, Half a World Away, Rose Against The Odds, Embassy, Chances, Law of the Land, Boys from the Bush, Boney, Half Way Around the Galaxy and Turn Left, The Bob Morrison Show, Ted Whitten Special, Pig’s Breakfast, Queens Kat, Carmel and St Jude, In Melbourne Tonight, Fear Factor, The Footy Show FEATURE FILMS – Composer, arranger, conductor: Pirate Movie, Humpty Dumpty Man, As Time Goes By, Breakaway, Warm Nights on a Slow Moving Train, Nigel, Ground Zero, The Dish Sullivan was a Victorian ambassador for Australia Day, and at one point that site provided an additional CV for him (link dead): Peter has a successful and colourful background crossing the whole music spectrum. Beginning at the Melbourne Conservatorium where he studied music for six years. He majored in composition earning honours in Double Bass and Composition. Peter has composed, produced and recorded original motion picture sound track scores for several Australian films including the “Pirate Movie” which he orchestrated, arranged and conducted a 75 piece orchestra. “Humpty Dumpty Man” , “As Time Goes By”, “Breakaway”, “Warm Nights on a Slow Moving Train” and “Nigel”. He has written arrangements and produced albums for many of Australia’s leading artists including Pseudo Echo, Little River Band, Daryl Somers, Ricky May, Normie Rowe, The Seekers, Colleen Hewitt, Dennis Walter and arranged songs for the Melbourne Symphony orchestra for the “John Farnham Live” album. As part of “The Two Man Band” with Mike Brady they featured in the Guinness book of records with the highest selling Australian single “Up There Cazaly”. Peter’s television credits include themes and underscores for “Hinch”, “House Rules”, “The Magistrate”, “Half a World Away”, “Rose Against the Odds”, “Embassy”, ”Chances”, “Law of the land”, “Boys from the Bush”, “Bony”, “Half Way Around the Galaxy and Turn Left”, “The Bob Morrision Show”, “Man From Snowy River”, “The Ted Whitten Special”, “Pigs Breakfast”, “QueenKat, Carmel & St. Jude” and “In Melbourne Tonight” Peter was commissioned in 1988 to write, arrange and conduct the song for the Australian pavilion at the 1988 Expo in Brisbane. That year he won the 1988 Penguin Award for excellence in music for the song “Fly”. In 1989 he won the Penguin for excellence in music award for “This Man, This Woman” and in 1990 the award for the “Magistrate” mini series starring Franco Nero. In February 1990, Peter Sullivan received the Advance Australia Award for his outstanding contribution to Australian Music. In 1991 he received the A.P.R.A. Award for “Television Themes of the Year”, for the title song of the television series “Chances”. Peter received the 2011 Variety Club Children’s Entertainer of the Year Award. There is no record that Sullivan's work for Duet for Four ever made it to album or disc, and significantly he doesn't rate the score highly in his CVs.     What wellbeing really means By Ruth Ostrow THIS is my last column in Weekend Health, as I will be moving to The Weekend Australian Magazine after a break. But I wanted to end my time with some open speculation as to what wellbeing really means. I have had quite strong views about it all. Since making my seachange to Byron Bay I've tried to practise and teach what I call work-life balance. That is where all the different components of our lives work together in harmony. A former workaholic, I was alarmed to discover what years of pushing myself had done to my body, my soul, and my relationships. And as a former finance journalist in the 80s, I had also observed what years of driving ambition and stress may well have done to so many of the entrepreneurs and businessmen we admired back then. As the decade drew to a close many of those I'd interviewed had had major health scares. Some like talented, exceptional businessmen Robert Holmes a Court, Larry Adler œ founder of FAI œ and Floyd Podgornik, the man behind Melbourne's famous Florentino's restaurant, had died for a variety of reasons. Others I'd written about had lost marriages, their peace of mind, and some even freedom as jail loomed. Some, like Christopher Skase, fled the country. I emerged from the '80s with the motto: "What drives you, can drive you over the edge." And I have been teaching as much for the last few years. But then the other day I had a chance encounter which made me rethink work in terms of our overall health and wellbeing.

Ja, auch von dort kommt richtig gute Rock & Popmusik daher und wenn Sie den einen oder anderen CD-Tipp aufgreifen, wird das sicher hörbar. Australien ist be- kanntlich ein Phänomen: Kontinent, eigenständiger Staat und größte Insel überhaupt. Dies ist auf unserem Erdball einmalig! Im Folgenden eine lockere Auswahl von Bands und Solisten: Crowded House Diese Band, deren Mitglieder aus Australien und Neuseeland kommen, wurde 1985 aus den „Trümmern“ von Split Enz gegründet. Bei Split Enz hatten die Brüder Neil und Tim Finn sowie Paul Hester gespielt. 1985 trennt sich Tim wegen Schwierigkeiten mit seinem Bruder von der Formation und machte Soloplatten. Die Band löste sich dann ganz auf. Nun wurde Crowded House geboren. 1986 veröffentlichten sie ihr Debütalbum mit dem Hit „Don´t Dream It´s Over“ (Januar 1987, Platz 2). 1991 vertrugen sich die Brüder Neil und Tim wieder, und Tim schloss sich Crowded House an. Gemeinsam wurde die ausgezeichnete LP „Woodface“ eingespielt, die 1991 erschien und unter die ersten 10 in GB kam. Ende 1991 hatte sich Tim allerdings wieder von der Gruppe getrennt, um weitere Solopläne zu verfolgen. Für ihn kam Mark Hart zur Band. Mit „Locked Out“ gelang Crowded House im Frühjahr 1994 ein Platz 12 in GB. CD-Tipp: Crowded House – Woodface (Capitol CDP 7 93559 2) John Farnham John wurde 1949 in GB geboren. Im Alter von zehn Jahren zog er mit seinen Eltern nach Melbour- ne in Australien und begann als Sechzehnjähriger eine Klempnerlehre. 1965 wurde John für zwei Jahre der Leadsänger der Strings.
